The little palace is where the Grisha live and train under General Kirigin. The "big" palace is where the Lantsov King/King of Ravka and his family lives
Ravka's main problem with new technology or weapons is that they never bothered to keep up because they always relied on their Grisha to keep them save. Ravka is currently the least developed country, the only reason why they survive a war at two fronts is the Second Army/the Grisha. But their power is slowly decreasing in comparison to the other countries armies and equipment.
Love your X-men analogy, I was watching this thinking the General is giving me mad Magneto vibes - new subscriber, also did not read the books but I want to now
thanks. Now that you mention it, he does feel like a Magneto type character. Its always those "Abilities" frighten the "normal" Humans Stories that i cannot unsee the X-Men analogies.
Clarification: Inej was trafficked into sex work at the Menagerie. Kaz calls her an “investment” but yknow he’s just scared of feelings. But anyways, in order for Inej to be freed from the control of Tante Heleen from the Menagerie, Kaz is trying to pay Tante Heleen so that Inej can be free, not for himself, but for her freedom. It’s a whole thing, and it’s amazing in the books how raw it’s written.
As a reader I can relate that some parts in the books reminded me of the problems the mutants have in X-men. The part of "You are grisha, you are not alone" Reminded me of Mutants and Proud Idk why
Inej came from a family of acrobats, she was taken by slave traders when she was 14 and sold to the menagerie. She was forced to work there for Heleen, and if she cried whilst being abused by a client, Heleen would beat her near to death. Kaz goes to brothels like the menagerie or the white rose to get information on the wealthy clients. One day Inej built up the courage to come up to him and say that she could help him. He walked away but came back the next day to (in the show) pay off her indemnity (in the books he buys her contract). He tells her that no one manages to sneak up on him, but she did. So he hires her to be his spy, that's how she eventually gets the name of The Wraith, by being undetectable. In the books he says that she's the only one that he actually trusts
let show tell such details. you should have stopped at "inej came from a family of acrobats"(if even that). that she ( and her brother you don't mention) were "taken by slave traders when she was 14 and sold to the menagerie" is evident from this episode . rest they will let us know of they want . especially since they might want to change details. .
@@sitting_nut I gave information from the books, none of which were spoilers. Only things that are said in the first few chapters of the first book. Character traits, they weren't spoilers. Believe me, there's a lot more things that I could've said that would definitely be spoilers
@@sitting_nut exactly, the show is not the book. Just because it happens this way in the books, doesn't mean it'll happen the same way in the show. Hence, not a spoiler. Also, not even a spoiler of the books. More like introductory stuff
You're right the boss character is called Kaz :)

ah, so there is a big Palace :) Thank you very much.

Inej believes in saints and fears not being forgiven by them if she kills... that's the jist of it 😁

Thanks for clearing that up.

Absolutely.
I'm so glad you made an X-Men reference. That's definitely how I saw it too when I picked up the books a few years ago. And I LOVE X-Men lmao
so, i guess im not that far off with the x-men reference then :)
And as for what Kaz gave Heleen they clarify it later but yeah
Kaz is right to hate Pekka Rollins after the whole... thing that happened... before...
I love the X-men reference!!!!! Such a good analogy!
i just started reading all the X-Men Comics beginning from 1999 till now, so i think i see references to them everywhere :D
