My take on Calypso is that she has the maturity of a 10-13 year old. So yeah quite immature. Back in Love in Paradise, she's so happy to have met someone, like a giddy child shows everything she owns like when your kid will show you random things they do to anyone who can see. The way she tried to comfort Ody in the last part of the song reminds me of some kids I know, "we have food so don't cry" "don't be sad imma give u a hug" they mean well but of course thats not what Ody needed. Then you add in the fact that she's here her entire life so we cannot really expect her to have the proper morals cuz no one taught her that (in this universe). Maybe the gods will send her a message or two but really will they care about some girl on an island. So her dismissing the fact that Ody has a wife well cuz she lived in this island for so long that she considers everything here her property. The way she apologizes here is also telling, its about her that she loves him and her tragic fate. Like no mention of the keeping him trapped for 7 years away from family. She cannot comprehend or empathize that far. Then loneliness, it can break a man truly then imagine being immortal + a person who does not know a damn thing, she would've been dying inside within a year or two. So yeah shes desperate. And cuz of her upbringing, she views this desperation for social contact as love cuz again she doesn't know better. Not excusing her faults but explaining why it ended up like this.
I love how you made the ⌛️ with Calypso’s island in it as a prison, even for her ! And the detail in the first image are beautiful. You art style is also incredible, we can feel the emotions behind the drawings, it’s very good !!
Calypso's song is giving her "Please stay with me. I love you clearly." It's manipulation. You can tell by her saying stuff like "Let me speak." Or "Just lie to me!"
I'd agree it's manipulation, but (at least in Epic) I don't think Calypso does it maliciously... She just has severe attachment and abandonment issues and deals with them in the only way she knows how. Basically doing whatever she can to ensure she doesn't have to spend another 100 years alone... Doesn't make her actions right, but it does make me sad to see people talking about how horrible she is. Girl just needs some therapy and not be forced to live in solitary confinement for the eternity of her immortal life.

Calypso desperately needs to develop less harmful coping strategies for her situation, but because of her experiences she just isn't equipped to understand how to do that, and she doesn't have anyone to show her... So just a shitty situation for all involved! Though it doesn't excuse her actions. She'd still be found guilty in court haha!

It’s not whitewashing if there is no canonical Skintone for the character in the Sagas. Plus you can see the art style that it’s not coloring ANY character. If you’re talking about Calypso, her actor is black yes, but there was no rule of saying the character should look like their VA, a lot of shows and songs like these do that. And Calypso in the myths was soft white skinned, but a lot of artists are making these characters look like their VA which is great, but does NOT APPLY TO EVERYONE. Please check the description and anything else before typing dumb stuff like you just did.
