My girlfriend's dad has an HK45. He let me hold it once, and it was like holding the Holy Grail. Extremely ergonomic, it fit my hand better than anything I've held before, and this is coming from a guy with small hands. It was also a pretty good reminder not to ever piss him off.
As an owner of the HK45, I can say it is one fine pistol. Compared to my 1911 Kimber, this thing is like silk. It is smooth and stable, and shoots like a dream.
great video! i owned a h&k usp 40 but had to sell it due to financial reasons, broke my heart! i'm saving for a hk 45 now. love that pistol and i know ill never get rid of it. thanks for the vid and the conformation on how superb this gun is. i'm military so im used to the m9 almost passed out when i heard that we could have them as standard issue. anyway thanks man.
just got my new HK45 (full size) and this video was fantastic- really laid out each step effectively. i'm definitely gonna get that foam swab ... thanks for a great video!
Great review, bro. Loved the intro, The Book of Eli is an awesome movie. I've been looking at this pistol for a while, love H&K pistols, loved the USP-9mm, and I think your no-nonsense review just sealed it for me. Thanks for taking time out to show us this gun, bro!
I just picked up my HK 45 compact today! Awesome piece! And like you, movies like; "The Book of Eli," "Collateral" (Tom Cruise) and "John Wick" where the HK's are used stirred me up to get them.
I own both the HK45 and the Walther 12+1 PPQ 45acp, which is my EDC. I’m certain that the PPQ is much more accurate than the HK45 V1 and they are nearly identical.
The best pistol is the one that fits you like a natural extension of your arm, for me it just happened to be the HK45, the balance was unmatched. You gotta love Hollywood, make it so easy! -Z
Incredible intro bro! I knew the HK was used in the movies Collateral and John Wick but I didn't know that it was in the movie The Book of Eli. Awesome! I have a FNX 45 but I'm absolutely digging these HK's more and more. I plan on upgrading to the HK family from here on out by first picking up a HK 45c for my next conceal and carry weapon. This is a beautiful piece!
Over 3 years and still my favorite. I picked up the 45c last year and I really like that too.... I switch back and forth between that and the VP9 for ccw. I do open carry the HK45 for hunting though.
Great vid, I got the hk45c with LEM trigger, took me under 100 rds to get a feel for the trigger. It's great pistol for sure, but The grip is not like the hk45, more like the p2000 which is slimmer for concealed carry. Next will be p30 with LEM or hk45. By the end of year I hopefully will have both!
Montana Man I suppose. It has been a minute since i've watched the movie and the video, but i do remember he shoots a fair amount more rounds than the magazine capacity for an HK45
+Alex Morrison You forget he is on a divinely inspired mission under the guidance and protection of God... surely he threw a few little miracles in there for the guy. Look... Denzel Washington kicking ass puts butts in movie seats, its $$$ nothing more. People pay to see this stuff. I personally think this movie has a fairly conservative message, how many mainstream movies advocate prayer, faith and the power of God?? This movie does... or least the most you will get out of Hollywood on the subject these days. Denzel Washington is a conservative guy, practicing Christian and reads the bible everyday... I'm sure he knew exactly what kind of movie he was making.
The HK45 digest anything you load on it and dont let you down and for me that worth every penny, the user manual say can shoot standard and +P ammunition, in the flip side magazines are $90 each and limited holsters available.
In a few months I'll probably purchase either a USP 45 or HK45. Not sure about the HK45. I fondled one the other day and did like it but not the price tag over the standard USP 45. We'll see...
mag price is higher too, last time i checked. helluvalot more ergonomic, although the USP 45 isn't bad either if you have big German hands, very good balance and handling. i handled a USP 9mm quite a bit before and I found it to handle pretty well, even though I have smaller hands by European standards
Actually he used a standard USP .45. In fact, at the time Collateral was filming the HK45 hadn't even hit the civilian market for a another few months as the military testing for it had just ended and H&K was still figuring out what to do with it. The H&K .45 is Denzel Washington's sidearm in the The Book of Eli though. Complete with electrical tape around the grip and everything.lol
I bought mine for $629 new in the box with 2 mags. I have a lot of handguns and this one by far feels the best in the hands (aside from a 1911). You’re right, this gun is on a whole different level. I’ll never buy another Glock. I’d rather have one HK instead of 3 Glocks.
How did you get it for $629?!!! I paid $749.99, and was happy at that price, especially after shooting it for the first time where I put about 275 rds on the first range trip without a single baubble!!!
I wasn't wild about the three dot and non tritium sights, I just had Grayguns install and regulate some Heinie straight eight trijicons. They look great, and will try them out next week.
hk developed a .45 act well before the weapon you're reviewing here. It's called the mark 23 and was the weapon the US military used with seal teams in the 90's. Also referred to as SOCOM.
I've seen used ones at gun shows for below your budget... They are good deals... most people buy guns and target shoot a few hundred rounds and sell them when the next "cool" gun hits the market, or they need to pay some bills.
I just double checked the IMFDB page for Collateral and it said that the script "namechecks it as an HK45". This is probably because before the HK45 came out, many people referred to the USP in .45 simply as the HK45.
I heard ppl say u can switch the safety to other side same as you said, could you show a video of you doing so, because I've seen ambi safeties for the HK45 but they cost 200.00, why pay that when you can jus switch the stock one over
You can clearly make it out in the movie. Especially when he chamber checks it before leaving the cab, before the "Yo Homie" scene. The only thing you can't make out is the caliber. IMFDB (dot) com states that it's the USP full size in .45. Mann might have just meant it was an H&K in .45 and mistakenly called it an HK45 since at the time there was no HK45.
@Just4kicks256 Not bad, It snaps kinda like a 9mm but with a bit of a pop of a .40. Personally I can get a .40 or .45 back on target faster that a 9mm. Even though the recoil isn't as hard... the barrel doesn't snap up as much... comes more straight back.
@cbroadhurst11 I don't think you can make a bad decision there. I have an M&P and I love it.... the biggest kicker there is price.... the M&P is hundreds of dollars less. Personally I love my .40 Glock 22 (it is my primary home defense gun), and LOVE my HK. But if I were looking to save a few bucks and still get a great gun.... an M&P would be my choice.
I have one, If i have to trust my life to one gun with zero doubts is indeed the HK45, never failed on me, the only downside is the 10 rounds capacity, other competition brands like FN or Glock carry more rounds in a ful size and the compact is a joke, 8 rounds, 1 more round than a standard 1911.
LOL great video!!! I made the very same video after I saw the movie Book of Eli, I came home and made a video just like this. Mostly because I owned the H&K 45 and was amazed to see it in a movie. It instantly made that movie 100% more interesting for me the very second I noticed the H&K 45. Again great video. I think you did this great gun more justice then I did. Always nice to find a like minded person!! More then happy to add you to my subscribed list.
Fucking-fantastic intro and review. I love this gun. Im planning on getting the Lipseyes all fde version. I was looking at the fNX as well but am in a 10rd-tard state and figure the end looses it capacity advantages here and I would rather have a gun that was made to run with 10rd mags I swear this gun was made for me. I counted about 14-16 shots in that seen maybe he reloaded, lol... Again great video. If I like the HK45 as much a I think I will, I plan on selling my G19 for the HK45c .
when i have enough cash next year at for the gunshow i'm definitely gonna see about getting one only if i can find one around $985-$1,000 with purchasing 3 extra mags
Very very nice video man, and Great pistol. I just subbed, I am going to start watching your other stuff. I really like how you put your stuff together. Also, The more time you get with your HK45 the more you will love it, I promise you. But I am sure you are already starting to......Keep it up man, I need HK45 porn to watch to hold me over until I get back stateside, and get to hold/shoot mine again.
nice video! you speak well. many You Tubers are hard to listen to. .. I am about to pick one of these up and will do a review/ shoot on my show "trigger talk with triggerhappy " have a good one! oh yeah, they DO kick the crap out of glocks.
I recently purchased a HK P30L 9mm and a VP9, and am very interested in purchasing either a HK MK23 or a HK 45. Being as you have the two, which would you recommend over the other in comparison of the two?
I thought the Navy Seals were using the P226 from Sig Sauer...are they now using both? Maybe different divisions of the NS? Love the look of the HK45 with it's "Batman grip" (like the P30. Might pickup a HK45 and P30s.
The USP 45 is easier to shoot then the 40 in both full size and compact . I shoot my HK45 c for IDPA its awesome I have both USP 45 Fullsize v1 n V 3 compact. I have a P2000 40 Cal which is a great gun . Hell the CBP and DHS and others are Issued them . In the trials the P2000 blew away the SIG 229 40 cal. But i find the 45 is less snappy then the 40 cal. I have 5 H&Ks and the 3 45s are my Fav . I will be getting a FDE HK45 around xmas to match my hk 45 FDE c which is rare. Nothing beats a H&K
I love the usp, did not like the trigger. I might grab one of these, see how it is. Maybe have an LEM trigger put in if the trigger is not to my liking.
this is the best review of a handgun that i ever see. i been in youtube for a long time never see a review so cool. only nutnfancy make videos of the same caliber. thank you for greate review keep the good work.
Great review. Beautiful pistol. I would like to see a variant that has a mag release on the frame ( similar to what Walther did with the PPQ M2 ). Not a real fan of O-rings on a pistol as well. I do own a USP 9mm and have been very happy with it. Thanks for sharing.
imo the fnp 45 is a better value- comes with 3 mags! threaded barrel and milled slide for adding mini reflex like the trijicon rmr that co-witness the high night sights.. i think I am gonna get the FN because i consider it the coolest and thats what I want to be perceived as....cool....
I was also considering the double stacked 1911's, but by the time you add a threaded barrel and magazines and sacrifice your iron sights for the mini reflex it just does not make $ence..
this pistol has everything going for it but the trigger pull, by far the worse trigger you could get in a pistol. a $1000 later I traded mine for a FN and haven't looked back.
My girlfriend's dad has an HK45. He let me hold it once, and it was like holding the Holy Grail. Extremely ergonomic, it fit my hand better than anything I've held before, and this is coming from a guy with small hands. It was also a pretty good reminder not to ever piss him off.
You’re a lucky dude, he lets you hold his gun and his daughter at the same time.😂
As an owner of the HK45, I can say it is one fine pistol. Compared to my 1911 Kimber, this thing is like silk. It is smooth and stable, and shoots like a dream.
yeahl my Kimber is a nightmare to maintain, just got my HK45 & i already see myself shooting it way more than the Kimber.
still best video on hk45 ive seen,7500 round thru my hk45 and no issues with it....
great video! i owned a h&k usp 40 but had to sell it due to financial reasons, broke my heart! i'm saving for a hk 45 now. love that pistol and i know ill never get rid of it. thanks for the vid and the conformation on how superb this gun is. i'm military so im used to the m9 almost passed out when i heard that we could have them as standard issue. anyway thanks man.
Nice video sir. The Rolls Royce of 45's...period.
I would say Mercedes-Benz is a better metaphor
just got my new HK45 (full size) and this video was fantastic- really laid out each step effectively. i'm definitely gonna get that foam swab ... thanks for a great video!
I liked this weapon since i saw it..... And after watching your detailed review i had no further doubt that i must own one!!!!
Great review, bro. Loved the intro, The Book of Eli is an awesome movie. I've been looking at this pistol for a while, love H&K pistols, loved the USP-9mm, and I think your no-nonsense review just sealed it for me. Thanks for taking time out to show us this gun, bro!
this still the best intro video on youtube,i keep coming back to see this video....keep up the good videos coming
Denzel shot 17 rounds, but the HK45 only holds 10 rounds...Nicely done hollywood
It'd also be literally impossible to own the KJV bible in Braille in one book. I think it's at least 8 enormous tomes if you go by braille.
The flagship of my semi-auto fleet.
this is an excellent weapon!!! thanks for the break down reminder!!!!!!!
I just picked up my HK 45 compact today! Awesome piece! And like you, movies like; "The Book of Eli," "Collateral" (Tom Cruise) and "John Wick" where the HK's are used stirred me up to get them.
Fucking poser ass pog
Your video review is very good. Few people explain the gun history. They give more impressions than review. Take my like sir!
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
HK= WIN
I own both the HK45 and the Walther 12+1 PPQ 45acp, which is my EDC. I’m certain that the PPQ is much more accurate than the HK45 V1 and they are nearly identical.
Awesome review bro, i have glocks and a HK usp .45 and will agree the HK line is definetely a better quality in fit and finish.
Thanks! This is an intelligent, well-presented review of a great firearm.
The best pistol is the one that fits you like a natural extension of your arm, for me it just happened to be the HK45, the balance was unmatched. You gotta love Hollywood, make it so easy! -Z
Book of Eli was cool movie, never noticed it was an HK 45.

militantx0660 you'll definitely like the HK45 over the FNX. The VP9 is an amazing choice as well. Extremely accurate.
Very good review. I watched it twice. Like the four (4) F's. Awesome firearm. 1911 meets Glock. HK will be my next purchase. Thanks
Great vid, I got the hk45c with LEM trigger, took me under 100 rds to get a feel for the trigger. It's great pistol for sure, but The grip is not like the hk45, more like the p2000 which is slimmer for concealed carry. Next will be p30 with LEM or hk45. By the end of year I hopefully will have both!
he definitely shot way too many times without reloading in the intro
Montana Man I suppose. It has been a minute since i've watched the movie and the video, but i do remember he shoots a fair amount more rounds than the magazine capacity for an HK45

Morrison shot show 2017 just passed and they still haven't presented the 18 round mags.
Morrison maybe he reloaded when the screen was on the bad guys shooting at him who’s to say
It's really lovely. I have the 45C and love it too.
Can't wait. I just paid off my HK45CT Var3 aka Mark24. Should be shipping to the house today or tomorrow.
It's a must for real hollywood films.
The HK45 digest anything you load on it and dont let you down and for me that worth every penny, the user manual say can shoot standard and +P ammunition, in the flip side magazines are $90 each and limited holsters available.

Really enjoyed this review thanks for sharing man! I'm saving right now for this exact gun can't wait to bring her home!
DevGru is making the switch.
Excellent review Dynamic. Thank you Sir.
Great review, and it's a great gun. I'll probably still go for the Glock 21 Gen4. Even though I lust after the HK45CT.
Great review Brother!
That is such a sweet gun, The HK45 is on my short list.
I have one of these and I love it, but finding a holster is a pain
And 9 years later it still is.
i have its older brother usp 45 and love it it is a tank!!!
I bought mine for $629 new in the box with 2 mags. I have a lot of handguns and this one by far feels the best in the hands (aside from a 1911). You’re right, this gun is on a whole different level. I’ll never buy another Glock. I’d rather have one HK instead of 3 Glocks.

Holy crap i never noticed that! I loved this move and my hk45 but i love them both 10 times more now hahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I wasn't wild about the three dot and non tritium sights, I just had Grayguns install and regulate some Heinie straight eight trijicons. They look great, and will try them out next week.

The Blackhawk CQC holster for the HK P-30 fits the HK45
I heard ppl say u can switch the safety to other side same as you said, could you show a video of you doing so, because I've seen ambi safeties for the HK45 but they cost 200.00, why pay that when you can jus switch the stock one over
I need the HK45 from book of Eli because apparently it has a 20 round capacity with a flush magazine.
Apparently if you're a blind man who believes in jesus, you get double mag capacity
Great review you knew your shit, you wern't bullshiting during the military inforamtion. Nice job givin you a sub
You can clearly make it out in the movie. Especially when he chamber checks it before leaving the cab, before the "Yo Homie" scene. The only thing you can't make out is the caliber. Just got my new hk45 in the time of covid for 749.99 at academy
It's a great gun.
Rumor is that the Blackhawk! CQC holsters for the P30 and the USP 45 will fit the HK45. I will be trying the former shortly.
The movie is one I reason I love hk
@cbroadhurst11 I don't think you can make a bad decision there. I have an M&P and I love it.... the biggest kicker there is price.... the M&P is hundreds of dollars less. Personally I love my .40 Glock 22 (it is my primary home defense gun), and LOVE my HK. But if I were looking to save a few bucks and still get a great gun.... an M&P would be my choice.
@ebomey Thanks!! Its the best .45 I personally have owned.
It's interesting that the Seals are using the Ruger SR1911, HK45, Kimber 45 ACP pistol, Sig P226....
LA SWAT....Ruger SR1911, Kimber....
Thank you!
LOL great video!!! I made the very same video after I saw the movie Book of Eli, I came home and made a video just like this. Mostly because I owned the H&K 45 and was amazed to see it in a movie. The book of Eli movie made me want to have the gun! !!!
Fucking-fantastic intro and review. I love this gun. Im planning on getting the Lipseyes all fde version. I was looking at the fNX as well but am in a 10rd-tard state and figure the end looses it capacity advantages here and I would rather have a gun that was made to run with 10rd mags I swear this gun was made for me. best hk review on youtube....enough said
@cbroadhurst11 I have exactly the same HK45 as shown in this video. I got it about 6 months ago. Awesome gun. Very accurate.
@xxSURExxSHOTxx Thanks bro!!! Great minds think alike!!!
@Zombiekillinmaniac Safariland makes holsters for the hk45 which I like. If your into leather then Kirkpatrick is my fav. I buy my mags locally.
skip to 1:43. you're welcome.
when i have enough cash next year at for the gunshow i'm definitely gonna see about getting one only if i can find one around $985-$1,000 with purchasing 3 extra mags
Excellent review on the HK. I JUST got mine today, can you tell I am excited? lol Please keep us updated on the HK.
I need to find the 15 rd, flush fit mags for his HK45. Thanks for the review.
These days, a basic HK45 or HK45C will cost you about $600. Just can’t decide which variant I want to get.
@CessnaDriver2 jury is still out for me on the sights... Those straight eight's are pretty sweet though, I'll have to look into that myself!
I love HK, glock are nice but you don't get as much for your money
nice video! you speak well. many You Tubers are hard to listen to. .. I am about to pick one of these up and will do a review/ shoot on my show "trigger talk with triggerhappy " have a good one! oh yeah, they DO kick the crap out of glocks.
I wish the HK45c had the HK45/P30 grip.
@TheyCallMeBadCompany Thanks bro!
I have a HK45 and a HK MK23 w/KAC silencer.
I recently purchased a HK P30L 9mm and a VP9, and am very interested in purchasing either a HK MK23 or a HK 45. Being as you have the two, which would you recommend over the other in comparison of the two?
I have a JK45, but it don't hold as much ammo as Eli's. His must've had a 50 round mag. lol
@TheLieutenant1025 Thanks bro!
Please! Sell me on this more! I really want one but I'm not quite convinced!
Galco makes a holster for the HK-45.
Amen to that.
That's Hollywood for ya! Same thing with single actions.
Would have liked to here your comparison between the HK45 .. which replaced .. Sig Sauer P226 Navy in 2010.
Didn't even realize that it was an HK in the movie.
I thought the Navy Seals were using the P226 from Sig Sauer...are they now using both? Maybe different divisions of the NS?
Love the look of the HK45 with it's "Batman grip" (like the P30. Might pickup a HK45 and P30s.
Do you find that the extra cost for the HK is worth what you get? I don't mind spending a more money on a better weapon.
@tnraines I hear ya man!! I haven't found one I like yet. Did you pick one yet??? I'm still searching......
this is the best review of a handgun that i ever see. i been in youtube for a long time never see a review so cool. only nutnfancy make videos of the same caliber. thank you for greate review keep the good work.
Love this gun, but I already sold one of my kidneys to get my Sig.
i want that mag at the beginning.........
Thats my next purchase!
Great review. Beautiful pistol. I would like to see a variant that has a mag release on the frame ( similar to what Walther did with the PPQ M2 ). Not a real fan of O-rings on a pistol as well. I do own a USP 9mm and have been very happy with it.
Thanks for sharing.
then get the B version
Which model will fit this for my drop leg. I'm looking on Safari's website and I'm only seeing for the 6005 model USP and P30 9mm and .40.
imo the fnp 45 is a better value- comes with 3 mags! threaded barrel and milled slide for adding mini reflex like the trijicon rmr that co-witness the high night sights.. i think I am gonna get the FN because i consider it the coolest and thats what I want to be perceived as....cool....
I was also considering the double stacked 1911's, but by the time you add a threaded barrel and magazines and sacrifice your iron sights for the mini reflex it just does not make $ence..
this pistol has everything going for it but the trigger pull, by far the worse trigger you could get in a pistol. a $1000 later I traded mine for a FN and haven't looked back.
double action is long and heavy, but single action especially the RESET of the hk45 is top notch.
