The character development is in particular sweet. Lunge actually got mad when Roberto pointed out his failed marriage and the bad relationship with his daughter and new grandchild.
i seriously never thought a mystery/thriller anime would have a battlefield scene and i was mesmerized, seeing dr tenma rally his allies grimmer, anna liebert, and unlikely assists from his enemies lunge and bonaparta vs johan, roberto and his gang.
You know a scene like this is good when both characters have so much plot armor. This far in after everything we’ve seen from both of them it really is anyone’s game
Both these characters were built up so tidily well the whole show Their presences grow more intimidating as time passes and for them to have a showdown with each other in the end, marvelous
Holy shit i still can't believe Lunges voice went from What we are always hearing at 2:25 To 6:31 BRO Thats how you know its endgame for Roberto! I literally Jumped out of my seat when i heard it for the first time
That was the moment I realized Lunge's dub VA was Richard Epcar lmao, I never heard him in a role like this before so when he actually raised his voice I recognized him.
After seeing how hopelessly grimmer and Martin died, and lunges apology, I really thought lunge could’ve died here horribly. Such a good way to build up to his victory
Both of these characters were an absolute menace to Tenma's progress early on in the series. Maybe that's why seeing them confront each other was so exciting
At least Lunge eventually came around. And technically for me Dr. Gillen calling out his finger taping memory process was what had me floored in laughter. I was like thank you for calling his bullshit out even though this fool was still on his ‘Tenma did it’ high horse even when he was presented with a picture of Johan.
Interesting, remember how Lunge trained with this "ball" in his left hand after Tenma patched him up? Now look how he uses his left hand to grap Roberto's wound, its just like with that ball.
Why do people love Johan I don't know. But I know why I love Dr tenma, inspector lunge from BKA, the magnificent Steiner Wolfgang grimmer and Martin as character
I think the same. I hated Johan and wanted him to be killed the whole time, but Lunge is badass, Grimmer is an awesome character and Tenma is just Tenma.
@@benjaminramsey498 Of course he's a great character, very well written and with a deep psychological background, but that doesn't mean I have to like him, same with Roberto for example.
@@da.cPeople like him because he has presence and frightening, just by hearing his name. I mean, whenever we hear "blonde, beautiful young man", we immediately think "oh no". Some people also perhaps get to understand Johan more after reading the sequel novel. Johan doesn't really enjoy killing people, unlike Roberto. He only kills people who will harm Nina (like the couple who will report them to the police, as he assumes it will notify Bonaparta). He takes Nina's story (red rose mansion) so Nina won't become a monster. He genuinely wants to die when Nina finds out his murder because he thinks he has become the monster. He destroys 511 Kinderheim because he doesn't want to forget Nina, due to the experiment they conduct there. So in the end, he does everything for Nina, or what he thinks best for her.
5:52 and you won't be able to see it because he is the last man, you will die alone and sad and without a name, unable to see..... the end. All part of a masterplan.
Works better in the Japanese version where he is going on about "Johan's Calculations" and it triggers Lunge's pride in himself as the best "Human Calculator" A lot of time translators just translate the text they are given but they haven't actually watched the full show or don't understand its themes.
Man, i got so mad at bonaparta for speaking about life and walking so slow.. if lounge didn't win he would die, i was especting him to lose and tenma saved him
It would have to be a full healthy Roberto vs a fully emotionless Lunge. I think, as Roberto said it himself, if Lunge remained to his old ways he would of just shot that gun and eliminated the threat much faster.
I wonder if it’s in the nature of the universe that persons capable of great things are aligned into conflict with one another, such that only the victor is permitted to bring the changes they wish to see.
The only experiment 511 who sucessfull are Wolfgang Grimmer. He's not embracing his monster side like Roberto and Johan does. He's also battle with suicidal and grudge feeling to mankind but in the end being kindness to human being won him over as truly human at the end of his life
*FMA Brotherhood spoilers* This fight is like the anime's equivalent to Scar vs. Wrath in FMA Brotherhood. Two characters who haven't previously met fighting to the death towards the end of the show. The villains even have to fight while already in a weakened state (Roberto's shoulder getting shot and Wrath losing his ultimate eye).
I know this is a late comment, but it probably wasn't his imagination, it's that roberto didn't want to shoot him in the back so he wanted him to face him.
Lunge always knew how to predict the criminals' movements by thinking like them, that was probably just Lunge's imagination believing that Roberto would shoot him in the back.

It may look funny, but it's pretty realistic imo. If you were in a situation as tense as the one Lunge is in, it would take one or two seconds for your eyes to adjust to the new environment (the bathroom) before your brain would be able to verify that there's no threat in that part of the room.
Lunge actually win all two confrontations against Roberto if he was not mad at him when he mention his family and he walk away to the downstairs. I was afraid he’s gonna die too during this fight.
The dub is ok but Lunge’s dubbed voice is just not the same. It lacks that subtle badassery and assertiveness. Also the dubbed dialogue and delivery at 5:59 is kinda cringey 😬
