I prefer Apple magic keyboard because it’s slim and while note taking Logitech one becomes bulk. Apple one is a bit sturdy and slim so to conclude most of them come to iPad Pro over the others though pro maybe a overkill is only due to aesthetics so if the case is bulk it spoils the whole .

I was happy to see a comparison between the two. But you made some points I cannot agree with:
-You compared the ease of removing the device from the case. Apples to Oranges my man. The whole point of the logtiech is that you don't remove it from the case. They designed it to not fall out so of course it will be more difficult remove. Instead of removing it from the case you wrap the keyboard around. That way the device isn't exposed while in tablet mode which it would be on the magic keyboard.
-You showed how inflexible the keyboard was on the magic keyboard by testing the keyboard. But when you went to test the keyboard flex on the logitech all you did is flex the hinge. 18:20 Again, apples to oranges. Of course the cloth hinge will flex. It's cloth. It has to fold around both ways to be used when the case is closed or completely open (in tablet mode).
I'm not trying to rip into you. Your points about the kickstand, the inaccuracy of the trackpad (and that it's diveboard), and how weird the flap was with the pen in place on the logitech were accurate.
    Thanks for the review.

The Logitech top flap also has a sleeve for the pencil when traveling for even more security, this is over looked by many. Great little feature. Great depth on the comparison. Here is to hoping for a 12.9 version. Love my Slim Folio Pro w/ a magic track pad II for now. The lack of shortcut/function keys on the Magic Keyboard is a deal breaker for me, just can’t understand why Apple couldn’t do it. They could have been small and under the angle of the iPad, you could learn them easy enough. And Hey, when you max out a 12.9 for $2K+ CDN you want a bit of protection, your point is a little jaded when you get product sent to you for free.

    My overall thoughts:
The Magic Keyboard case is the more aesthetically pleasing option while the Logitech case is the more functional option. Sure the Magic Keyboard has the USBC port and the Logitech case is made from a better material, but my overall point stands. For most people, the Logitech case should be the default option if you want a keyboard. It’s only the die-hard iPad Pro fans that have to make the decision. Personally, I’d go with the Magic Keyboard case because I am that kind of iPad Pro user who cares about the aesthetics. But in the end, you can’t go wrong with either option.

8:46 You’ll notice here that the Logitech has some lag to it. If you slow the video down to .25x speed, you’ll notice that when he lifts his fingers off of the keys and stops typing, the characters continue to input for quite a moment, compared to the magic keyboard where the input stops as soon as he lifts his fingers off of the keys and stops typing. There are quite a few things you didn’t talk about or gazed over. Like how you can use the Logitech Folio handheld. I probably won’t use it that way very often but it’s nice that it’s an option. Maybe you mentioned it but I missed it. Also, there’s a movie-like position mode for presentation, also a sketch mode position for drawing on the iPad with Logitech Folio. All things that make the Logitech Folio more flexible (literally) than the magic keyboard (which is a great keyboard as well). Just seems like you only made this video to say the magic keyboard is a trillion miles better than Logitech folio. I saw the product breakdown and it’s so worth it for the price but not even if you’re looking for budget. Even if you have the extra money to spend, the Logitech Pro is a severely great option alongside the magic keyboard. Durable, easy to use and things like the diving board trackpad is easy to get over, 🤷🏾‍♂️

The thing that I love about the combo touch is the fact that the keyboard portion was able to disconnect from the case. As someone who uses my iPad for mostly handwriting, I really hoped that the folio would have a similar ability to detach the keyboard as it is what makes the combo touch so great in my opinion.

    • @AbuFarouq

This. I wonder why its not a feature. The detaching feature is something really useful.

    • @LilyLikesTech
      @LilyLikesTech 4 года назад

ADS SY I think the detach isn’t a feature most likely front the different locations of the smart connector. On the pro it is on the back while the air and iPad have it on the horizontal bottom of the device where the keyboard would detach so I assume it was an engineering complexity to add it in. Even still, I would be willing to pay a bit more for such a feature since it is something I would use constantly and is the reason I don’t have the magic keyboard, even tho it detaches it doesn’t provide protection.

  • @imakethesites3048

I spent $328 on the magic keyboard plus $28 for a skin to cover the keyboard surface plus $43 on the cover buddy to kind of protect the back and sides and provide the place for the Apple Pencil, total 399. Plus tax. A Logitech rep just told me I can maybe expect a12.9 version of this more complete and useful keyboard case in a month, which would allow me to get back about $200, if I return the case Buddy this week. Or I can return all the accessories and the iPad Pro and almost have enough for a 16” MacBook Pro (yeah, I’d buy it instead of waiting)

  • @BTru82
    @BTru82 4 года назад +4

Got it today and already decided to return it. It’s great, for the most part, but much bulkier and heavier than the apple magic keyboard case. I don’t know about you but I never have dropped an iPad so all that extra protection is a bit my. The function row is amazing and I don’t know how Apple missed that. This thing is heavy. Main reason I am returning is due to lack of lap usability. It is impossible to use it on your lap if you want to use the keyboard.

    • @CS-xe1oh

Coming from a photographer or film maker's point of view who may use iPads for editing, data/storage transfer and overall laptop like workflow, I would now lean towards the ergonomics of the Magic keyboard for the simple fact of freeing up your single USB port for readers and external HDs and using the hinge port for continuous power or charging while you are working. That is a HUGE bonus in my experience.
People who complain about the lack of 360 fold for drawing etc. forgets that on the MK the iPad detaches with a finger and re-attaches perfectly just by placing it on because of powerful magnets, Plus you don't have a bulky case to hold that'll make it heavier.

The cost difference is definitely attractive. If I didn’t already have the Apple Magic Keyboard I’d definitely be tempted. But for me, this would be the only draw. I don’t care about the function keys - leaving them out allowed Apple to place the iPad significantly closer to the user. My setup includes the Switcheasy CoverBuddy case, which is a perfect companion to the Magic Keyboard. You get protection, including protection for the Apple Pencil, without losing the easy magnetic mounting. The case allows easy access to the hardware buttons, much better than the Logitech Folio. Still, as I said, the price difference may well be worth the compromises.

Personally, my decision is already made as I am typing this on a Magic Keyboard Case :), but for any buyers who are still undecided, here’s a few things I’ve noticed.
First, the immersive experience that the Magic Keyboard offers obviously is way more refined than that of the Logitech. The price may justify it for some consumers, but there is a particular market that will spend that extra money for the said “Apple experience”.
Secondly, the Apple experience can be furthered explored into software and bugs. The Magic Keyboard will of course be top notch as it is manufactured by Apple themselves, but because the Logitech is from a third party company, there will be several bugs. Yes these may be fixed in later updates, but for now, these bugs may be a determining factor.
Finally, the quality. Once again, harping on this “Apple experience”, the Logitech case along with any other third party case, will never be as sleek or as slim as the Apple cases. That is what Apple’s entire designs are based off of. Unique, modern, slim designs that no one has ever seen before. This intriguing market is why the Magic Keyboard has been selling so well (and will continue to). If you want the Apple “quality” and “experience”, then get the Magic Keyboard. Otherwise, save your money, get the Logitech, and perhaps invest in an Apple Pencil because it is totally worth $130 just to click it to the side of your iPad Pro every 30 seconds :).
Hopefully this was helpful to anyone who reads this and enjoy your day :).

Surprised I missed this video. Well done and largely agree with you. The keyboards really don't compete with each other. Two different markets. I thought I wouldn't get another iPad with the lack of useable, professional creative apps. But may have other uses that may justify upgrading.
I have the original Logitech Keyboard for iPad Pro 9.7" with SmartConnector. Still after 5 years. The thing works perfectly. Still. I've dropped my iPad in the case. No damage whatsoever. A piece of plastic broke off the case. But the keyboard still works perfectly fine.
If you have the 12.9" iPad Pro, there is only once choice as the Logitech still doesn't have a version for it. You brought up a good point: the premium feel. The ability to remove the iPad easily from the keyboard. The extra flexibility in the viewing angle. For professionals, all this makes a difference. I wouldn't use the iPad much as a laptop replacement so I think I could live without the functionality of the Logitech.
    Good job with the comparison.

Something has been nagging my brain since WWDC: the repeated mentions of Linux during the keynote. What if Apple was hinting at something major in the pipeline?
For years the company attempted to enter the server market, but while the MacOS is an exquisite consumer/workstation operating system, it has failed to make a sizable entry into the enterprise market, a market that is now dominated by various flavors of Linux. Now imagine once the migration to Apple Silicon (AS) is complete, and Apple has an AS competitor to Intel's Xeon that runs more efficiently, why stop just with future workstations like the Mac Pro or iMac Pro? Why not reintroduce a server branch of the Macintosh that not only runs MacOS Server, but also some Linux variant
    - and as it will be a non-consumer product it runs natively instead of within a virtual
environment? It wouldn't be the first time the company would market a product that runs
a non-native software, remember the Apple Network Server (1996-7), which operated using IBMS AIX? Furthermore, why stop with just offering such a product to future clients, when Apple's own servers could herald the company's entry into the enterprise cloud computer market.
Apple is the largest tech company around, yet currently it is missing from an enterprise market where the likes of Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google and others are already massive players. In fact current Apple services like iCloud, the various app stores, Apple pay, ... etc.
already operate on non-native infrastructure (its estimated Apple leases Amazon AWS services for a 30 million dollar monthly fee), even though services amount to some 22% of the company's revenue according to the last quarterly report (a figure that is second only to iPhone sales and is roughly three times that of iPad sales). Once Apple starts to use its own
infrastructure for services, what will prevent the company from extending such services beyond the current consumer market into an
    - 14% of quarterly revenue.
even more lucrative enterprise market? Amazon has demonstrated what can be done with their AWS Graviton custom built processors (developed using ARM Neoverse 64-bit cores) for their own AWS services, which amount to Others who are working on super processors based on ARM technology include Fujitsu, the maker of the A64FX, the processor that powers Fugaku, the worlds fastest supercomputer. Also, recently Ampere announced a 128-core server processor to complement the 80-core Altra Max they launched earlier this year. Apple potentially can develop a powerful competitor utilizing their own AS solutions to create scalable and
megalithic systems that could be managed utilizing tools such as Macs, iPads and even iPhones. In short, the way I see it Apple didn't invest billions of dollars to develop AS just to enhance the performance of laptops and desktops for the status quo, among the company's long term goals is to dominate the enterprise cloud computing market.
Disclaimer : This is not my comment. someone commented this on Rene Ritchie's video.. So I had to hear your Thoughts on this?? any answer maybe??

So from what I understand, Logitech dominates the MKB in utility and practicality, while MKB is the top choice if you want to show off and have slightly better key feedback.
    Logitech:
    -Actually protects the iPad
-360 flexible, meaning you can draw, take notes, and get better angles
    -FUNCTION KEYS
    -Longer-lasting/less dirty material
    -doesn't cost literally another iPad
    MKB
    -the keys feel REALLY good
    -a charging-only usb-c port?
-lose the ability to take notes/draw with the keyboard on
-doesn't protect anything: it's not a case but just an attachment
    -super easy to take off
    -less wobbly on the lap
    -you'll look richer?

Who out there has a really small desk? Does anyone have a 8” desk? The answer is no.. lol! To me that’s a non issue. The grip on both are great as well. Oh no, you have to reach another 1-2 inches with the combo touch!! (Sarcasm) I have both cases, one for my iPad 7th gen. I have the combo touch keyboard and I have the magic keyboard for my iPad Pro 11”. They’re both great! All the little nitpicky things you find wrong with each are really not a big deal at all. My point is, you cannot go wrong with either one. 🤙

I bought the SwitchEasy CoverBuddy case for my 11” Pro from Amazon and it protects the sides while having good access to the buttons. It also has additional magnets that help to hold the iPad better. This system with the Magic Keyboard I find is the best. Can you do a review on this setup. Thanks

When I first watched this review, I was very unhappy because -
    1) Apple is lacking ideas for new products. It's never been the same company after Steve Jobs left. Once it was a company who made world's first touch screen versatile mobile phone, now a day they sell overpriced wheels for there income. Truly they have shown the world, the power of brand value.
    2) Logitech has done some excellent work within very low price. I think that the faults like backlift buttons etc.. are issues. Still Max tech is saying that every good in there product is because they work with Apple.
But after going through the comment section, I became satisfied because at least the viewers know that what worth there money more.

Do these keyboards consume battery while they are connected overnight.?

ADIL SIDDIQUI , no.....if the keyboard isn’t being used, it isn’t consuming power. Neither have Bluetooth radios. Unless you are using a lot of backlighting, the power draw even while being used will be almost nothing. So while the iPad is off, neither keyboard is pulling any current.

    This video was amazing Vadim!
Looking at both cases side by side for so long was very useful for me.
Both cases have strong and weak points (depending on perspective) and they encompass 99% of the potential user base.
In my heart, I want the Magic Keyboard and now I can justify it in my mind as well. I have an iPad Pro 10.5 inch and am waiting for the new 12.9 inch redesign. When I factor the price of the iPad, the Apple Pencil and the difference between Smart Keyboard Folio vs Magic Keyboard - it is 180 € in my country. In my example, this is 11% difference comparing the total configurations. And I am getting a configuration that is more than 11% better :)

Does the logitech flap ever wear down where it wont hold up the iPad anymore? I just got it and I’m worried that’s gonna happen soon

Bought a simple procase for now but thinking i will eventually get the magic keyboard. Do you know if it will work with the other case still attached? As I would like to have the benefits of the magic keyboard with the protection of a fully encompassing case.
