- Answer to the title, yes it looks like they have!
66122 has arrived this afternoon & proudly sits on the layout, looking & sounding fantastic.
Yeah the Direct Rail Services blue probably won’t be everyone’s first choice as there are plenty of fancier liveries out there, but the loco will fit in nicely at Colwich….
It’s going to interesting to see how the new loco compares to the Hattons Originals 66.
The sound file appears to be spot on so far, so I’m looking forward to getting the loco run in this evening.
Let me know if you’ve got any of the new Accurascale 66s yet or on pre - order?

Got two of my four today big thumbs up from me cheers Al
Is it not just Hattons tooling that Accurascale have tweeked.
Looks and sounds fantastic, looking forward to giving a go in the flesh 👍
Well worth the wait I think👍
I have just the one, 66001 ok I paid over the odds, and didn't mind doing as it is absolutely amazing! It comes in a fantastic box with the EWS thunder flash livery plastered all over it. The attention to detail is incredible, now the overall Red is far to light and stands out against all the other makers. Then i saw a piece on the RM web, it states that the first 66001/002 were initially turned out in a much brighter red and a photo of 002 supports that. Also the side and roof radiator grills are painted Red! And again that was correct too initially. The sound at long last is absolutely spot on and i have a feeling that this 66 is going to be a total winner. I did a short running session on my channel last week if you have a moment to view it. Your DRS 66122 ex db also looks and sounds absolutely spot on, a nice little running session which i enjoyed. Good luck and i think you should have a couple more even if it means doung some swaps, I guess i might have to osrt eith a couple of my Hattons 66's although they are pretty impressive. Cheers Nick.
Thanks for the reply👍
I’m going to check it out right now!
Cheers John b 🤒
@@colwichjunction3366cheers John hope your getting another one!
I’d love another, but funds may not allow at the moment…there’s too many to choose from anyway🤣👍
My new 66 everytime I change ends a voice is heard " This is a AWS locomotive" or something like that, I've never heard it on any reviews.
mmmmm not sure I’ve heard that one either?
I’m sure one of my Dapol 68s says something like that, but not the 66???
I’ll check that out when I get home.
Thanks for commenting 👍
Cheers John b😎
I would like a BR blue large logo model if they release one.
Don’t mention large logo!
Too late, I need one now you’ve mentioned it🤣
Cheers John b🤒
@@colwichjunction3366 I’m not sure what other liveries are left of this cool looking loco, I guess we will see in the potential second run in a few years, I forgot that the sister company has runs to complete as well, my fingers are still crossed that we will see an HST from them in a few years and maybe even a class 08 or even a class 73 or 58.
I'm torturing myself watching AS 66 vids! 😂 I have one on pre-order so I'm hoping it might appear in the next few days. If this video is anything to go by, they look (and sound) stunning!
I’m sure you won’t be disappointed, they’ve done it again I reckon! 👍🔊
That's a great looking loco ... Cheers James 🙂👍
Seems really good from first impressions👍
@@colwichjunction3366 I'll bet it can pull a few Dylington Custard tankers 😁👍
I’m sure it could! 🤣
@@colwichjunction3366 I thought so 😁👍
……now where’s Ladderman got too? 🤔
Looks superb! DRS plain blue is on my tick list but I’ve got gbrf prostrate on pre order, got a few hattons 66’s and very happy with them too 😃👍
Yeah I’ve got a couple of the Hattons 66s & they’re fine models indeed. This new one runs beautifully straight out of the box, I just think it’ll need a little bit of grime adding to the roof & underframe.
The DRS 66s that pass through Colwich are always pretty clean, not as clean as the Red Schenker Sheds though! 😁🔴
@@colwichjunction3366 😆 nice one ! Think just a bit of light weathering to take the shiny new look will be perfect 👌
Nice one, i suppose the acid test is standing it next to the HO scale models of the 66 by ESU & Trix / Marklin one.
Thankfully I don’t have either of those models, so I’ll leave that to someone else….👍
Hello mate love your videos love the look of your layout which I've commented on before but one question I haven't asked is where do you get your portal catenary from and is it 3D printed, scratch built, card or plastic, etc, and I love the look that you've given to your masts i'd be grateful if you could let me know the type of paints that you've used on those??, many thanks.
Hello again Chris
It’s all bashed up out of Scalemodelscenery kits & the Dapol OHLE masts, these can be cut up & modified quite easily - plain old super glue does a really good job of holding any mods together.
The paint I’ve used is by a brand called “Testors”, not sure if you can get them in the U.K.? I travel to the U.S quite a lot & pick them up when I’m over there…The colour is Aluminium, it’s an enamel paint. Good stuff if you can get it, although I bet there are other U.K. manufacturers that do something similar.
The verde effect on the registration arms is from a (Posca) felt tip pen! The older type of WCML here at the real Colwich has all gone this colour.
I’ve pretty much made it up as I go along… The other end of the layout needs doing, so far I haven’t looked at the new Westhill Wagon Works OHLE I’ve heard it’s good⚡️if not expensive compared to my kit bashed versions.
Thanks for watching, hope that helps👍
Cheers John b🤒
Any motor issues?????? Some customers had issues with their Accurascale class 37 motors!!!! One RUclipsr(TORRIDON ROAD BY PETER DIXON) purchased 3x accurascale class 37’s n all FAILED.
No, non so far.
I’ve currently got 6 Accurascale 37s - 1 class 92 a manor & now this class 66 no issues with any of them.
I have heard some have had issues with particular models, but to buy three & have them all fail seems unlucky….
Cheers John b😎
When sat at idle does it sometimes rev up to keep up with the compressor?
It does change revs when idling, during these running shots I was messing about with the drive hold function & notching it up & down, so it may not sound quite right for the speeds…
I hear the real things pass here everyday, sometimes they’re held at a red short of the junction, so when they do a standing start with a full train it can be impressive 🔊
Nice! I need to win the lottery 😆 sick of being skint!
Me too mate! At least this one’s paid for on a pre-order.
I’ve got another, yes another 37 on the books too, why do I need another??? The Colas one….., so yes it’s needed, perhaps you could have a word with your new mate Richard see if he could pas one over my way. I think I’ve spent enough at Accurascale to warrant a freebie😉👍
I’ll be honest I do like 66s (good job as there’s so many of the buggers running past where I live), but they ain’t a 37 are they?
Cheers John b🤒
😁🤭😁 hope Richard comes through for me!
you got the accurascale one? (Colas)
I need wagons and all sorts but I’m hopefully at the end of the skintness!
@doubleodave - I’ve got the colas on preorder….the older Bachmann version isn’t bad either🤔
@@colwichjunction3366 I really like the Bachmann - they just need better speakers and they’d be on par to me 👍
