    The Hellscore really brings it. Hats off to Noa. So happy Scardust is just starting to get the attention they deserve.

    Thanks for this lovely reaction and for spotlighting Scardust. This must be the second best take of Ghost Love Score after Wacken 2013 for me. I totally agree that the live choir made it special and Noa's performace is very goosebump inducing! Yes it is part of a full Nightwish tribute show. They only also have Elan and Noise on RUclips and I highly recommend you give those a jam as well!

    The best cover of this song so far!! To be honest I really like the choir too. It is complete with all voices male and female. And the lead singer sounds beautiful, different from Floor, of course, but she can do it, she can sing the song completely in a different colour but definetely it is a masterpiece. And one thing I would like to point out is that they sound like they are in a studio, but they are live. The interpretation is well organized and very well mixed like you said. Thank you for sharing this piece of art with us. Thank you for your reaction too.

    Covering this iconic piece of symph/prog/metal would be an impossibility for most artist/bands, but Noa, Scardust, & Hellscore are immensely talented & highly capable, and they all did an absolutely fabulous job with the song, the arrangement, the production, and their performance!
    I know it’s easy for the most ardent fans (I’m not referring to you, Naka) to do so, but comparing every single part & parcel of the performance with Nightwish & Floor (I feel they would appreciate this & be honored by this, if I may add) is ridiculous, disingenuous, and unfair, at best. Why not sit in the moment and simply enjoy it or quietly move along, instead of tearing down a group of artists that had the confidence and fearlessness to tackle it in the first place?!? And, yes, I am very heartened by the many positive responses from obvious Nightwish & Floor Jansen fans!
    This was done as a loving, respectful tribute to the band, and this particular piece of art, that ultimately steered Noa into this musical direction, and we the fans of her, this band, & all her projects should be grateful for that, alone.
    Thank you for sharing this, your warm reception, and your appreciation of the art, you have a new subscriber. I hope channels like yours brings a greater appreciation of the original art SCARDUST is gifting to us. Please, dive into it, “Shards” would be a great place to start. 😉 🤘🏼!

    Scardust is a really great band. They come from Israel. Several members are also big fans of Nightwish. The singer Noa Gruman stated that she grew up with Nightwish. Last year they even played a real tribute concert, in which they almost perfectly imitated various covers of Nightwish such as: Noise, Wish I had an Angel, Élan and Storytime. Truly near-perfect covers that also copied Floor's narrative singing style.

    Bless you Naka! That was a great breakdown, as always :) (You have to check "Concrete Cage" :).
    This was a full Nightwish tribute show Scardust played, along with friends from other bands (on certain songs). And indeed, with 8 people from Noa's Hellscore choir :)
    Elan and Noise were already released on RUclips. Hopefully the whole event would be released :)
    I think the approach here was to incorporate the sound and atmosphere and intention of the original, while ending with the new NW "take", with Floor.

    I'M LATE!!! Finally got to see your reaction to this. I love seeing how this just puts a smile on your face.
    I think that moment of changing the tone near the end is amazing... I'm not sure how you call that technique but it feels like a switch from opera to falsetto to me... The whole take was amazing though.
    Thanks for this video!
    P.S. the glasses look great!

    They have definitely used a lot of the official orchestral track that's officially available by Nightwish -> ruclips.net/video/XZcI70MPE5A/видео.html
    But they either edited out the choir parts to sing them live with the choir on stage or got a version without the choir from the record label, which is more likely, as I assume they got the rights to perform, upload and monetize their performance.

    Loved the cover and I respect the decisions around the vocal line. The bad thing of hearing floor singing this is knowing pretty much no one will do the same way. And I love the twang and the nasality of the middle/mix and belting here. Not 100% my cup of tea, but respect.

    I like the cover as a really decent one. I particularly like the fact that it reminds me very sharply of just how magical Floor's and the whole band's performance at Wacken really was.
    Some things I'm not sure about.. but let me start by saying that this is how I could've imagined Anette singing GLS live (and me not digging the weak/thin vocals), excluding the grand finale which to my untrained ear sounded like a totally different animal.
    One thing I didn't like at all was the vibrato e.g. on swi-i-i-i-m.. and all the rest there (is she classically trained? Since that would explain a lot. Not my cuppa this vibrato overuse). Then her voice is completely lost/drowned out by the "backing" vocals when "My fall" sets in. There's other things like dynamics, colouring and stylistic flexibility that are lacking relative to the gold standard, but those vocal subtleties were never really expected here.
    The live choir/backing was a nice touch however, though I didn't like the way they doubled the "redeem me.. etc" leading vocals there. The nice thing in GLS is that the choir has its own line and doesn't need to support the singer.
    Must confess that musically this rendition lacked flow and felt a bit "empty" at times, like a karaoke-version. Particularly at the start I didn't quite get the drummer's choice to leave out essential beats (like at 1:13) that are there in the original, while he does start hitting them at 1:37.. poor choice I'd say. But on the whole an agreeable cover and her grand finale truly sounds great. Cheers!

    • @NakatheMetalhead
      @NakatheMetalhead  2 года назад

      But in the original on the "redeem me.." part there is also extensive vocal layering...

    • @BrendonChase_2015
      @BrendonChase_2015 2 года назад

      @@NakatheMetalhead You're absolutely right, since I reckon you're referring to the original album version? That's precisely what I don't like, so the cover is indeed very true to the original here.
      My GLS "gold standard" is Wacken 2013, so that would explain the different perspective here. Cheers!

    If looking for more rock/metal, might try Liliac. Independent band that does some of the best covers and the originals are just as good or better. “Nothing” (original) or “Enter Sandman” cover will slap you with her vocals. If you want to see live “Mars” live (original) with a nice guitar solo to start. Personally been liking their “Seven Nation Army” cover lately.
    Original or cover hard to go wrong.
