it is sad that Dean Sullivan who played Jimmy Corkhill in the classic tv series Brookside has passed away at the age of 68 thanks for the memories RIP Dean Sullivan (Jimmy Corkhill)
I'm still a bit shocked about that to be honest with you 😔 he was a brilliant actor. I will ALWAYS remember when him and Eddie found Trevor under the patio ha ha 😂 sorry for laughing.
I was shocked when I saw that Dean Sullivan, had died he Will never be forgotten by all Brookside Fans I think that Brookside should as a tribute to Dean Sullivan
timmy blindasabat haha, BRILLIANT! I actually got the train to Liverpool last weekend. I was wondering what to do so got the bus over to Croxeth, then walked it to Brookside Close. The couple who live in the first house (kids bike outside) laughed when I told them my mum was going to LOVE the selfies I was stood snapping in the middle of the road 😜 (the old lady in the first house immediately on left was peering out her window wondering what the fuck I was doing). I had a wail of a time, and I wasn’t even a fan of Brookside! 😂
did you get rid of that horrible archway in the kitchen / lounge ? - it looked better when Petra lived there and there was a wall and a door to the kitchen .
I remember feeling quite bereft after the last episode aired. Came to the show late having been born in the last few years of the 80s and having discovered the show only watched the last few years. I was gutted when it ended.
They should have, the mid 90s was the last decent era, by the early 2000s the production quality was laughable. It limped on until 2003 after a very slow and painful death.
it was ground-breaking well before any of the others but it always remained gritty and realistic and the acting from all the cast was of a very high calibre. it should never have been taken off air when it was it still had a lot of mileage in it.whether it should be brought back now or not is another debate. though I personally think we should remember it for the high quality drama of its time and indeed beyond it's time.to bring it back again I think would be a big mistake it would just get swallowed up among the rest of the soaps but there us no doubt it was and still is the leader in that regard.
It was around late 98 when a new producer arrived and Phil Redmond was no longer in charge of the storylines. It was from then on the writing and casting was all over the place. Lance and Bev, Tim and Emily, the Musgroves, yawn. Redmond returned as sole producer in 2001 or 2002 but it was too late to bring it back to its best.
@@Onmysheet The money was siphoned off onto Hollyoaks which we also made in the same building, we even shot some Hollyoaks on Brookside close. I think Phil took his eye off the ball then he did the helicopter crash. When ratings started to go up channel 4 had already bought the cricket for the following year to go in Brooksides slot so they moved it around to keep the ratings down. Phill bought The house you see at the end then in 2005 he sold the company.
I loved it from the beginning til about 1996. It just turned into a naff panto about gangsters, shame. And you'd think Jimmy of all people wouldn't be feeling so nostalgic at the end. Since he moved onto the close he had addiction problems, marital breakdown, the murder of his son, accidentally killinga couple of the neighbours while off his head on coke, nervous breakdown, constant public humiliation.. etc etc To be honest I've never known anyone to feel attachment to a new build 1980s housing estate.
Bring back brookside close on tv it was one my favorite program on channel 4 Came Phil Redmond .... Bring back Brookside from beginning the lots of fan's want to watch Brookside from beginning or put on UK Gold TV my name Ruth please bring it back on tv
Brookside was a great drama but toward the end years it got stupid. I think when they introduced Nikki's boyfriend was the beginning of the end. It had to die as the scriptwriters deliberately made it shit.
I can see Bilsdale (Middlesbourugh) TV Transmitter from Bradford. I think I'd Have to go to Queensbury, Bradford to See Winter Hill. If I Walked Up one of Leeds Hills, I'd Be Able to See Crystal Palace, London from Leeds.
I read some where that the actor who played Jimmy Corkhill looked into buying the set, not long after the show had ended, Not sure if that was ever true.
brookside was the best soap opera ever on British TV in the 1980s and 1990s. but other soaps started to copy it when brookside introduced the spectacular event. there was nothing like it on TV when it started. it lit a touch paper that made TV soap writers sit up and take notice. brookside went off the rails when it introduced the posh brother and sister. viewers hated the couple though the girl Georgia was very easy on the eye. then they introduced her dad max into the show. the ratings started to slide. plus brookside was on everyday. it was competing with BBC, itv. its big story in the end was jimmy corkhills was mental health. no other characters were left. it became very boring viewing and depressing.
Nat and Georgia's dad was Ollie Simpson - he drove a SAAB car and ran a bookshop .......Max was a neighbour that first caught Nat and Georgia in bed and discovered the incestuous relationship when they were staying together in a holiday cottage ...........and Nat was annoying because of his voice , he always sounded like he had a lot of flem stuck in his throat and his stupid floppy fringe ........
It's Jimmy s fault why brooky Ended that's what c4 cast members said I don't believe that's true tho Jimmy Billy sin bad mick Barry grant max Ron Jackie bing tin head Steve Terry sue dd godden and the rest of the cast members on set good upload my friend 👍
Only the kids from 80s and 90s will understand

it was a sad day when Brookside ended I liked it when Jimmy Corkhill put a D at the End of Brookside Close Very Nice Touch at the end of an era
Jimmy leaves all taps running just before he walks of End of an Era
Yes 😂 I will ALWAYS remember when him and Eddie found Trevor under the patio ha ha 😂 sorry for laughing.
I find it's sad that brookside was ended in 2003 and it's alongtime, it's 22years ago.
not 22 years ago its 17 years ago
Loved brookside watching the omnibus on a Saturday at 510pm
They should never have AXED Brookie
They should have, the mid 90s was the last decent era, by the early 2000s the production quality was laughable. It limped on until 2003 after a very slow and painful death.
So glad STV are re-running it. It's getting weekly streamings of over a million. It could bring on a rivival
Jimmy Corkhill Legend
Dean Sullivan was top man😃👍
Very good akthing
I agree with you he is such a legend!!! everyone remember him. I really miss him on the screen. So I wonders what happened to him.
@@MissMaya308 I have a feeling brookside will return as a series and we will find out what happened to certain characters after they left brookside.
@@MissMaya308 sadly passed away RIP dean Sullivan
This is the tune they should have used at the end, the one they did use didn't have the same feeling to it.
Could have had Dana sing the actual words to her song too
RIP Jimmy 😢
Apart from helicopter crashing and the invest storyline, it was compelling
It was yes. In your opinion, what was the most memoranle scene?

When you have helicopters flying into petrol stations you lose a sense of reality.

Jimmy Corkhill was the best character in Brookie
Yes he was 🙂 even though he drove Jackie up the wall at times, he was brilliant 🙂
Best soap ever to come out of the uk the rest just steal old brookside storyline
Tommy Paterson Youvare correct let's start a petition to bring it back. 👍👍
Tommy Paterson oh yes when coronation Street and emmerdale started brookside
The funny thing is, Hollyoaks now has lasted longer than Brookside ever did.
Tommy Paterson oh yes when coronation and emmerdale and EastEnders started before brookside
Brookside actually predated EastEnders - the former started in 1982, the latter didn't start until 1985
I read some where that the actor who played Jimmy Corkhill looked into buying the set, not long after the show had ended, Not sure if that was ever true.

Her dad Max? Who are talking about?
1, other programme makers had the brain to know how big a mistake it was to do it.2, Max was not Nat and Georgias dad . He was the neighbour
Yup until after the Gordon family ruined Brookside. best until 2000s. first time I watching Brookside on live tv as a kid in 90s.
Please bring it back to Channel 4 - even if it's the repeats 🙂
Will it ever come back
Why did everyone leave their expensive garden ornaments behind?
Well this is it, the last ever brookie, have you got some speical line up
Should never have finished...
You have the bad writing during the last few years to thank for that
