On RUclips one hears people referring to cops as hats, all the time. It doth irritate me. I think this is more of an American thing, or North American as Canadians also do it. With the brits the cap vs hat thing was a class mark in the early days.
@@gthehatguy One thing that surprised me when reading about the history of hats and caps is that the bowler hat was originally designed for working men. Some lordly dude who dressed his game wardens in top hats got tired of replacing all the hats being damage by trees when the wardens were mounted on horses. It was all about taking the hat shorter. Like the Ivy or flat cap it became favoured by the middle and upper classes. Love your vids man.
