Not sure if you're aware, but I sell hats and make hats as well. And, those hats are brands that I sell that can also be found at various hat shops across the country or online. At the moment, I just try to refrain from giving promotions to any particular brands on here. But, it's coming some time in the near future though for sure. Generally, I won't recommend doing it at home by yourself, unless you know what you're doing. Because, it can soften the felt and mess up brim, crown, and overall foundation of the hat. Due to stiffener in the felt especially, gotta be super careful when doing such processes. If you know what you're doing and are extra-careful, it can be done at home by applying the steam very carefully and sparingly from a distance of about 24 inches away or so to avoid soaking the hat and over-application for whatever purposes you're performing such as, shaping or stretching. But, I recommend professional hat shop attention and services otherwise. It's an ARTFORM that's nurtured by experience and expertise over time. Happy Father's Day, SALUTE ✌🏾👍🏾👉🏾💯

@@gthehatguy thanks for the detailed response! Main reason I was asking is because I want to remove some cigarette smells from a used hat I purchased, but unsure how to remove the smell. I may just leave it alone as its not a big issue, and seems like it's easy to mess up if I try to DIY it.

I see. If you want to get rid of cigarette smoke smell, I can suggest this to you. Get you some good quality Lavender Essential Oil 1ounce size bottle, and apply about 10 to 15 drops on a piece of white cotton balls. Place to soaked cotton underneath the hat and cover for few days as the smell is allowed to disperse into the fibers of the hat from the inside. If the smell persists, you can repeat this method as many times as needed until the bad smell is gone. Hope this helps, SALUTE ✌🏾👍🏾👉🏾💯
