This is interesting… my husband of 32 years loves OG Angel and enjoys all the gourmands. He is sensitive to “old lady rose” fragrances like yours is to figs😂. If he doesn’t care for a fragrance, which is pretty rare, he’ll say it has an old lady rose in it …🙄. So I stick w/ syrupy roses like Intense Cafe or Atomic Rose, Roses Vanille. It can get tricky, because I tend not to wear the ones I know he hates. But we’re so happy w/ 4 kids from ages 25, 18, 17, and 13 and it’s really my pleasure to have him love what I wear … we agree on most every fragrance. We even ask each other before a date or outing what fragrance sounds fun to you and that’s been a great way to get him interested in fragrance as well. The little things make life romantic ❤.

In my experience men love gourmands on women. I've had the most compliments when wearing Love Don't Be Shy, and back in the day Wish by Chopard which is similar to Angel and used to be my signature scent. More recently it's been LDBS, Gentle Fluidity Gold, Delina and Atomic Rose that have gotten me compliments from men. A male friend said I smelled gorgeous within seconds of sitting down next to him the first time I wore Love. VW Boudior too. Apparently men love La Vie Est Belle and L'interdit too but I wouldn't know coz I've only had samples of them so I didn't really get a chance to properly find out.

@@miamilivelife9583 Yeah, I agree. I don't like anything masculine. Even the unisex ones have to lean feminine for me. The furthest into true unisex fragrances I'll go is Grand Soir or Mhyrr and Tonka but even then I tend to layer them over something sweeter. To each their own like but I like to smell ultra feminine personally, even if I'm dressed in sweats 😂

Both great fragrances. I'm a guy and every time I've worn Encense Suave I get asked about it. I'm not really that into incense fragrances, but the way it's done here it's like a magic potion. Gris charnel I really like but it leans more feminine so I'm not sure how much I'll wear it. I need to try the extrait version.

Very interesting and fun video! Fig, sandalwood and tea fragrances are some of my MOST favourite notes. I have found that most men enjoy sweet, airy, lightly floral, and fruity fragrances. They'll say, "You smell really nice," or "sweet," or "sexy." I wear a lot of masculine fragrances - I love tobacco, oud, woods, and spices. I have also worn Tom Ford Oud Wood and received compliments from both men & women. I have gotten the most compliments from men when wearing Delina, MFK BR 540, A La Rose, Vanilla Woods, & Pink Crystal. I have gotten the most compliments from women when wearing Satin Oud, Hibiscus Mahajad Extrait, Jazz Club, Libre Intense, Bal D'Afrique and Patchouli Citrus. It all depends on the person - but It's always nice to be given a compliment that you smell nice!

My partner really likes fresh fragrances on a woman, mainly floral and aquatic ones. He also kind of likes chypre fragrances if they are not too strong. His favourite on me are Dior Pure Poison, Commodity Rain and Alfred Sung Shi. He hates gourmand and super sweet fragrances, and is not a fan of most woody fragrances on women. He always says that they are too intense and strong, so I guess that is a pretty common feeling among a lot of men 👀

I totally agree with Mr. Scented that some perfumes are not wearable perfumes but just "scents" or "smells". I just tested one yesterday that I think smells more like that, than a wearable perfume. It's a newer one by Mancera that is pretty popular right now. The smell wasn't bad, but I couldn't see wearing it as a perfume, myself.

So funny about Gris Charnel! I had seen both men and women rave about it on here so I bit the bullet and bought a sample. It was nice enough, but I wasn’t sure about it… however, the very first day I wore it into work, I had a male customer compliment me on it! He said “I’m not sure what you’re wearing, but that smells really good” it honestly surprised me lol, made me feel more inclined to buy a full bottle.

@@rainbowveil Hi there. Let me introduce myself since you seem to think you know me already. My name is Beth. I'm chuckling, only because my husband lost his sense of smell about 6 years ago after a bad virus. Now, my younger daughter is my biggest critic of the scents I choose.
The one perfume I get the most compliments on from men is the Versace Crystal Noir. And anything with a musky undertone.
I really like the Bum Bum fragrance spray for the summer.
I agree with you, Yana. Most men that I've encountered do prefer gourmand scents.

I too, as a man (provided gender has any role in this), hate sandal wood when it is very prominent and intense. I can't say I hate it everywhere, since so many of the perfumes in my collection contain sandal wood, but when it is the main theme and absolute protagonist of a composition I can detect some spicy, aromatic (I agree with Mr Scented on dill) and almost rancid aspects that really put me off. Whereas I find fragrances in the vein of Tam Dao (where Sandal has been tamed by dry cedar) to be very nice - it is in fact one of the perfumes I could never live without. I don't even think it is a question of creamy vs dry, cause I love scents like Must de Cartier, or Guerlain Samsara (I'm mentioning these 2 classics cause they use to be pretty heavy handed on sandalwood back then) where the sandal is very creamy but doesn't give off those rancid and spicy vibes. It's probably a question of clean vs dirty and maybe that's where the differences in perception are - not necessarily between men and women, but on an individual base.
Of course, fragrances such as Le Labo's Santal 33, Perri's Santal du Pacific, Morph's Animal and Stash are no go zones for me...
On a side note, I still have to find a release from Le Labo that I like. I find them too simplistic, bordering to banal; so much so that you'd be better off buying essential oils or some cheaper offerings from your local herborist instead.

Honestly, I think Philosykos is the best fig fragrance in existence. You don’t get hit with the syrupy sweetness of the fig because the fig leaf and fig sap freshen and balance the sweet notes. I also find it to be perfectly unisex.

Does fig have a green smell? I find that I don’t like most fig fragrances but not sure I’m picking up the actual fig. To me Phylosokos smells of earth/dirt and a really strong almost herbal grass, and it’s really off putting. However maybe I only pick up the green notes. I hear people describe fig as sweet but I don’t get anything sweet in most fig fragrances.

Check this out: I am a fragrance addict, have been since I was 14, I'm 41...I own well over 200 fragrances in my collection and my husband kind of hates fragrances in general...LOL! He's clean, he likes just clean skin and a light deodorant. But, he loves me enough to put up with my love of scents and I love him enough not to pressure him into wearing men's fragrance...So, people have different senses of smell, and I DO believe for the most part men just enjoy simple, clean fragrances...It's us ladies that enjoy the crazy, complex and loud perfumes. So, we truly wear it for ourselves...As we should. ❤

@@TheScented I'd still like to try the '40. I haven't spotted it in a store yet. Haven't been to a perfume store in a while as I'm on a no-perfume-buy for a few months. Want to really use and enjoy the fragrances I have because I've been chasing new and exciting for a while.
But the 40 is on my list to try next.

Oh, how much I agree about Gris Charnel and Kenzo L'Elephant. However, these seem to be the opinion of only one man so asking more men and draw a line with the perfumes most if all would hate would be more convincing that men hate certain fragrances. I love these typeof videos a lot, anyway

Ohh I absolutely love the sandalwood profile! I think its very safe for my job at a Drs office. My husband likes it. Yet he absolutely loves Prada Paraxodone ( original) as well as Glossier You ( he adores that on me and makes a silly sniffing sound lol!!!). He has never said he doesn't like a scent. It could be he's just too polite. Yet I personally cannot stand anything with a rose ( true rose not tuberose) profile. It is in my "scrub off" category! Hate it! I want to like it but I just do not! I love the smell of a fresh rose yet once it goes into perfume, candles anything like that yuckkkk!

Fun video Yana! In the outtake your man mentioned he might like an airy fig and Yesterday Haze by Imaginary Authors came to mind. He may like it. Not sure if you have tried it but to me it’s a light iris musk with fig in the background. It could be the fig fragrance that works for him 🤷🏻‍♀️

I completely agree about fig! I’ve tried and I just don’t care for fig whatsoever. There’s something salty/savory about fig that is just completely off putting. I’m still traumatized by Womanity. I’m also very picky about coconut. It can smell very cheap IMO.

I dislike a bunch of these too- that sol de Janeiro brand is the worst. I had some teenage guests in my home spraying that daily and it was pure torture.

I wear Gris Charnel Extrait as my mosk common signature scent...I'm a guy. I like it but feels it's masculine. I do like gourmands as unisex scents.

I had been wondering about a couple of those that you mentioned as I haven't bought them yet. Good to know. Save me the dollars. Plus I'm trying to attract people. Found the comment about Kenzo funny especially since people tend to call things head turners. I definitely don't want to wear something someone is questioning or looking at me for that reason haha.

My man loves gourmands on me especially when I smell like a bakery. 😂
He also regularly compliments black opium extreme and la vie est belle.
But it’s clear he smells sandal wood and resins different than me. He’s never said he doesn’t like them (and he would) but I know they aren’t his favorites.
My son says I smell dirty when I wear angel muse, which makes me laugh but I understand it. And he told me never to wear la capitale again ( I think it smells like oud to him) but to me it is so so good.

I personally don't like sweet fragrances or fragrance that smells like food. I lean more towards leather, oak mossy woody scents in winter. Versace Dylan Purple and Turquoise and D&G Light Blue Intense for summer. The coffee note in Black Opium ruins it. I don't have a gentleman so I wear what I like!

Lol my husband also hates fig and sandalwood and super gourmand scents! I also can't do the sandalwood trend. Accords my husband also hates are coffee and white florals. He pretty much only likes clean reserve skin and blackberry & bay surprisingly.

My husband wants me to smell distinctly feminine and loves fruit florals and rarely anything else. If I wore Ralph everyday he would be happy. He wears vanilla, boozy and woody scents and doesn’t perceive them as particularly feminine. And he hates BR540 and anything with a bandaid note.

Mr. Scented might like Comptoir Sud Pacifique’s Coco Figue. It smells, on me at least, like your skin after a day at the beach. I’m picky about fig (and coconut), too, and that one I enjoy. The opening is a little different, but softens and blooms so beautifully. It wears subtly and close to the skin, but lasts (on me) until I wash it off. Love these videos with you two! Y’all enjoy your weekend!

A sandalwood disliker?! Get your torches and pitchforks!!!! 👨‍🌾👩‍🌾🤣🤣 I agree about the problems with intensity though. I have that problem with woody ambers myself. Just an unrequested assault to the nose. I'm also not a fan scents that OD on ethyl maltol. Gourmands are fantastic, but I prefer the drier, less sweet ones and in modest amounts. Like...sissy spraying divided by 2. 😄 And UNDER the clothing. Por favor. As for woods and spices, I 🤎🤎🤎 them on women. And fig. Yup.😜 Case in point - Costume National's Homme edt. Men, women, errrrrvrybady. Give Fico di Amalfi a try too!

I like both sandalwood and gourmands on women, though I feel like all sandalwood notes aren't created equal. Santal 33 is one that I don't prefer. My current favorite fragrance to smell when my wife wears it is LuLu or LouLou (I can't remember) that is a strong vanilla and white floral combo. It is super potent but also very alluring.

Fantastic video! ❤ You two are always so funny and informative 👍 give us some more 🙏
My hubby hates: Hermes (anything, especially Les Marveilles) , Baccarat Rouge 540, and he always complains if I wear „heavy, dense stuff”. 😂
To my surprise, he loves Miracle by Lancome, Rush 2 by Gucci and basically every perfume that is light, airy, flowery, and fresh 🙈 so, I wear all my ouds, sandalwoods and dark, dense roses to work 😜 just to intimidate men - very hepful at some ocassions 😉😉 have a great weekend!
