We love sweet potatoes. Thank you so much for the information on sweet potatoes. I didn’t realize how easy they are to grow. I love your channel. I learn so much from you. God bless you. Take care from Cape Cod✌️🇺🇸💕
I am so excited! I am moving in a month to a 8b zone to an almost 5 acre property and have been looking for a RUclipsr in the same zone. And here you are. I watch Colby and now will be watching you as well! Thank you for sharing.
From watching videos, I learned about the slips on regular potatoes. I told my husband we could plant them, and potatoes would grow. I think he was skeptical, but he did it. We had potatoes! I was so excited. I usually don't have any sweet potatoes on hand long enough for the slips to start, but I am thinking that I will keep one or two until they do. I have some grow bags we bought so we could move things around if necessary. I think they will work beautifully. Coming up with a warm place to keep them is going to be the challenge as I do not have a greenhouse. If I have to, I will keep them inside. If I use potting soil in some of my larger pots, I should not have an issue with little critters growing. I had no idea how easy it would be...city girl transplant here. Lol. I do love sweet potatoes about any way you can fix them. My husband grew up on a farm, so he does know about growing from seed, etc. I think they always bought what he calls seed potatoes. You had to cut them up and treat them with some kind of concoction to keep them from rotting in the ground. The slips were so easy, and I definitely think that is the way to go. What is kind of funny is that I always thought that once the potatoes/sweet potatoes "budded", you couldn't eat them. I just threw them out. I do remember my mom putting toothpicks in the potatoes and setting them in a glass of water. We enjoyed seeing the foliage grow as children. I know she never planted them. I wonder why? Thank you, Misty. As I say every time, I love seeing what you are doing and the knowledge you share with us. God bless you all.
I recently subscribed to your channel, and I'll tell you why. You my angel, are the perfect portrait of a Proverbs 31 woman from the Bible. You are up early caring for your family, cooking, teaching your children. Your hands are not idle. You participate in business and activities that make you beautiful inside and out. You let your husband lead, but we all know he'd be lost without the helpmate God gifted him with in you. Colby is proud, God is proud, your husband and children call you blessed and vital to the success of your family and their lives. Thanks to God, for leading me to you and Colby. You are using the gifts God gave you and teaching us to do the same. God Bless you girl! And keep on being who our sweet Lord created you to be. Becoming a Proverbs 31 woman is something all of us ladies need to be striving to acheive🎉❤
Thank you for great information. I’m also 71 years old and want the try again to grow a few things. Would love to get some good seeds for a few things. God bless you ❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you, I live in Michigan zone 5 can’t grow in the winter, but I do have herbs in side , I do make medicinal herbs and salves, teas, water glass my eggs you taught me, have a big spring garden and do alot of canning and freeze drying 😇🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 still need to learn how to make cheese with our cows milk
I always did my slips by putting a sweet potato about half way in water in a pint jar or similar. I have even left one and put it in a hanging basket and it made a really nice looking hanging basket. You do have to make sure you water it pretty much daily though, they go through a lot of water. I love sweet potatoes, but with being diabetic, I can't eat them a lot.
Thank you for another fantastic video with lots of detailed information to help us. You are an awesome teacher. God bless you, Misty & your beautiful family ✝️❤️🙏
I've been gardening for years and when I watch you I still learn something new every time! I just love watching your videos! You rock girl!! I love the Macs!! ❤❤

I tried to grow sweet potatoes last year for the first time. They were small and split. I am going to try again this year. We had a lot of rain last year. Maybe too much water? Love your videos Misty! ❤
Thanks Misty for including your videos. I love sweet potatoes. I hope to plant some this year in the garden. My potatoes didn't do as good as previous years. The deer helped themselves last year, lol, they were hungry too.
Love these teaching videos ,gonna go back and watch the one where you made soap, others...thank you Misty I know it's a lot of work but so appreciated. ❤️
Those potatoes look amazing! Love them but have to leave them be most times for the way I eat 😢. And save me a spot at dinner 🤗🤣❤️ Also, Happy belated Birthday Misty❣️🎁🎉
Thank you Misty! I have learned so much from your videos. For me, that is so important to me...learning every day! God bless you, Colby and your beautiful family. 🥰💗🙏💗🙏
Do you have time to tell us what variety of sweet potatoes did you begin with or do you recommend? We have grown Beauregard and Georgia Jet. Last year I did my own slips and had many potatoes that weighed 3-4 pounds each. I did not have very many medium or small size. Did I leave them in the ground too long? The large ones taste fine though. Love your channel and I learn so much. 🥰
I actually am not sure what variety this is - it was gifted to me by a gentleman who lives a couple hours away / he was given the vines by a 90 year old who had grown them all his life so they are generations old - I need to research the varieties more to see what kind I actually have Grow what does best in your zone! Maybe dig them up at 90 days instead of 120 You can even dig up a couple to see how they are progressing
I have given up trying to grow spinach, radishes and beets. I’ve tried and tried to no avail. But I am going to plant Japanese sweet potatoes this year. If you haven’t tried them you must. My favorite sweet potato.
Love sweet potatoes. I’ve tried, definitely trying again. I’ve read it’s hard to do cuz I’m in Michigan and we don’t get enough warm days. This year I have a greenhouse 🎉 I use them for dog food. Love going in my backyard and shopping for my food. Such a good feeling and accomplishment.

We are planning a move from the PNW which is so beautiful but off the rockers to the left, to the red state of SW Tennessee. We will be learning a new way of gardening which is exciting. Today I was wondering if you make salad dressing, Ranch in particular. If so could you share a recipe? And do you use sweet potatoes for all your potato needs?
I was really tempted to buy some regular ones bc we have eaten (or they are canned) the ones I grew this year but I did not bc I have SO many sweet potatoes so I thought it would be a better idea to eat what we have - also I make my own mayo about half of the time - then if you wanted to make your own ranch - add a touch of milk , garlic powder, onion powder, basil and salt to taste - or I have also gotten ranch from azure and add it to the mayo and milk How to make mayo - ruclips.net/video/pDrDyRDEHhs/видео.htmlsi=JrMEk4jNk4Cek7fc

Can you grow sweet potatoes in an 28” deep raised box in a screened patio? I’m restricted to things that can in 18 inches of soil.
Yes you can! Just make sure it gets full sun!
Do you put the whole slip in the ground? And do you have to put them in a sunny spot?
I put 3/4 of the slip in the ground and yes full sun!
mad ricotta cheese and spreadable cheese other day

Yes - you bet!
