- Whats The Best Free or Paid Antivirus Software
In this video we will be doing some AV tests on BitDefender Internet Security 2014 and Avast Free Antivirus, so if you have always be asking whats the best antivirus program, then this video is for you.
I will test web site links that contain virus on them, I will also scan a folder of Malware to see what gets detected and deleted by both Antimalware programs. and the last test will be trying to install fresh malware on to a computer system to see if they get blocked by these programs.

Thanks Brian - always appreciates these tests you do - Have a good weekend!
Thanks John, have a great weekend.
I'm not computer savvy, so it really helps to see the side by side comparison. Thank you.
Great test Brian.
I'm very glad to see that You got back to Your videos.
Great test again, mate.
Cheers mate, have a great weekend.
Welcome come back, Britec, keep the good work up.
Cheers John.

Hope all your family are well, there's nothing worse than when a family member is ill because you can't concentrate on everyday things. TTFN
john robert lightfoot Yeah I am hoping everything turns out OK.
Good morning Mr. Britec .... I have a 2 questions for you that's off the topic I hope you can help me with. 1. The real meaning of "amber light" on your motherboard are power button? Because, I was taught that amber-light means there's a power supply issues, are the board it damage. However, I came across this post and I want your expert opinion and who's right! Me are this person.
1- Solid Orange - Means the presence of the POWER_GOOD signal. The POWER_GOOD signal, in turn, indicates the power supply is performing all its basic functions but the Motherboard is unable to distribute the same- issue likely to be solved by replacing the mother board.
2- Blinking Orange - Indicates the POWER_GOOD signal has not been issued by the power supply- Likely due to a power supply failure but you need to confirm the same by testing the health of the power supply by pressing the test button at the back.
Second question. Do u turn of windows firewall when u install a anti-virus that has its own fire wall, are u have both of them run in the back ground?
thanks for your time looking forward to hearing from u soon
I'm a big fam
Great vid! In my opinion, I still like ESET Antivirus. Maybe next time you make a video comparing ESET to other AV :)
Good Video. I like both of those AV's. Your video proves they are good.
Yeah I like both as well.
Hey, just a suggestion... could you include a link to a reliable download source to some of the recommended programs that you are demonstrating in your videos? Especially Avast, for I am doing a Re'install on a pc for a friend (I have only did this a few times, I'm not a IT tech) so I dont have to run a search and take any risks in bad 3rd party links?
I bought a MacBook Pro 3 years ago & I think it's the better Anti-virus you can have.
Beside my girlfriend bought Norton (2 years subscription) & it goes very well on detecting viruses.
Thank you Brian for your excellent service. You make a difference ! My ability to have a go learning to use my computer without fear off crash and burn. Please keep doing what you do.
More videos on the way:)
A comparison of the free vs. paid versions of each program would also be useful, as would be Bitdefender (free) vs. Avast (free) & Bitdefender (paid) vs. Avast (paid). I'm a long-time Avast (free) user currently looking for alternatives. I've recently tried (or retried) the free versions of Ad-Aware, Avira, Panda & Bitdefender, as well as the paid version of Kaspersky (since a 6-month license came included with my most recent computer purchase). I'm also keeping Malwarebytes (free) installed on my computer, as well as Advanced System Care 8 (free version). I will definitely keep both Malwarebytes and at least the Uninstaller portion of Iobit's Advanced System Care 8 on my computer, but am currently undecided about which AV software to go with. (I did also briefly try AVG (free), but didn't like it forcing a homepage and browser upon me, so I got rid of it.) I might even be willing to consider a paid AV once the 6-month Kaspersky license runs out -- but would want to spend no more than US$25/year on it.
***** i have avast premier 2015 and it's really great! light, fast and easy to use. And it just eat about 100-150 MB of your ram. I tried avg intrernet security 2015 and it's a glutton ram eater antivirus, coz it swallows about 500mb to 1gb after you start your pc. Yeah go with avast and it's free or paid.
I tried AVG Free, and promptly got rid of it, because I didn't like how it tried to hijack my homepage & search engine. I've been a long-time Avast Free user; however, my spouse has been complaining lately about it blocking "false positives" (plus, the nags to upgrade to paid products such as GrimeFighter are annoying), so I'm investigating alternatives. Mostly looking at free programs, but also considering well-reviewed yet inexpensive paid programs such as Webroot AV.
***** Or try Bitdefender Free antivirus? it's fast and very minimalist but block malicious sites and viruses. I recommend it too.
I've tried Bitdefender Free, and may go back to it if I decide against paying for Webroot after the trial period expires. It does seem to be pretty good at doing its job without slowing down the computer!
Thank you Brian,my Commodo Subscription is up in two weeks. This gives me some more options. Thanks again,Bitdefender has caught my eye.
Your welcome, glad i could help.
I would chose avast personally, but! the unpaid version works really well come pared to the paid. I say if you have the money and you to spend it on a paid antivirus software go ahead. But, if you don't wan to pay or don't have the money go and get the non paid version it works just as well.
Thanks Brian, I use Avast so nice to see it performing well, thanks for the vid!
Your welcome James
Tks for comparing them Brian. I prefer Avast Internet Security coz it's cheaper at $70. for 2 years! :)
Cheapest and Best....like your style.
Good video as always Brian , keep them coming mate
Thanks John
Missed your videos keep up the great work mate
Thanks Jack.
What about the antivirus software that contains multiple scan engines?
Overall, I think 360 Internet Security/360 Total Security are better, both of them are free, and they both contain multiple scan engines.
Nice test :) like it nice to see a free vs paid and see that they are great both :)
I use Microsoft Security Essentials. Its free, it works, AND its Free!.
Hey Brian, what security solutions do you use on your system?
Avast!! Really good comparison here. Thanks! +1
TY
The best free/paid AV software for me is ESET Antivirus. Been using it since 2012
Avast is brilliant but it uses so much memory and slows computers right down. AVG is brilliant because it's just as good and uses less memory, and I use Malwarebites along with that.
Avast is a great free anti-virus,combining with Comodo and know how to identify malware with Process Explorer is a good combination...A good free
I can't agree more.
i been a die hard nortons user for many years and still til this day i have nothing bad to say about it i love it i have also used mcafee its ok but it comes to very close to nortons but i wouldnt pay for mcafee it cost alot but i will pay for nortons tho can you do a review of mcafee and nortons for thos who use theses both thanks
Thanks for the video...very helpful...
Thank you for making this test appreciate it.
Your welcome.
is trend micro any good? cause i have 90 days left. Also witch free or paid anti-virus are good for a pc with windows 8.1 pro
1 what are your test links? 2 how to make a virus folder for testing your system 3 which malwares did you use in your test?
I just installed Comodo based on your comment, and then tried to install Bitdefender, and it says it is incompatible with Comodo.
My combo is avira paid and Malwarebytes paid (I cracked them both hehe) On my main computer,
And avast free and Malwarebytes (Cracked premium for life) As well.
I cracked HitMan pro simply for lifetime, It ending at 1-1-1160, But that date will never come
My ISP provides McAfee for free on all the computers in the house. Is it any good? We've have one laptop down for the count, unsure the issue and the office PC has had issues which always ends up costing me time and money to fix. Plus do anti virus software programs prevent malware? Thanks in advance for any help received.
Stephen Fryer Yes, antivirus program prevents your system from malwares, because AVS mostly has a real-time protection, which blocks malwares viruses before it runs in your system.about Mcafee, ummm i personally don't recommend it, it's just a resource hog and doesn't give you full protection except you pay for it. Mcafee and norton nowadays is just money antivirus programs. i recommend you to use Avast free for antivirus and Malwarebytes free for your second in command line of defense. They're both free and both have a very detection rates. If you scan your pc with avast and you suspected that you have a hidden malwares and viruses and it didn't detect, try your second defense the malwarebytes. thiese two protectors makes my old pc into new. And Mcafee doesn't have a freemium antivirus, it's just a trial version. PAY FOR PROTECTION - mcafee/// if you want to ask anything just reply Sir, i love to help others :)
I read that Malwarebytes is a good program. I installed it last night on a computer that I can say for 100% certainty that it's infected with malware. Malwarebytes has been running since last night, over 11 hours and hasn't found anything. How long does that software run. Plus I've researched PAID antivirus software and this one gets good reviews, Kaspersky Internet Security. I'm tired of dealing with nonsense. Should I just pay for it and hopefully be done with it?
Stephen Fryer i have a malwarebytes Premium version(paid) and Avast Premier(paid) for free. I cracked the avast and works perfectly, and i just put a license key on my malwarebytes to activate the full version for free. The expiration date for malwarebytes is lifetime and my avast will expire on 2050. I didn't spend any coins to paid these awesum softwares. And there is no what we call "The Best Antivirus in the world", it's just your reference and usage of the program. All i can say is that, they're just the same.
Stephen Fryer Plus my Malwarebytes scan duration is just about average of 20mins and found all of the malwares, viruses, and PUPs(like adwares). This program fixed and solved all my problems for my old pc.
ThePhoenyxuzprimax I downloaded and ran Malwarebytes for almost 23 hours. There was no sign of stopping and when I stopped it to uninstall it had found 0 issues. Yet I know the computer has issues. I bought and paid for Kaspersky and it took some doing but issues solved Quarantined 10 issues. Computer is working fine now. Thanks for your input. Be Well.
Is AVIRA a Virus??? Also Can i get bit defender and avast together?
The Anon avira is NOT A VIRUS dude, it's an antivirus program. About getting bitdefender and avast together is not good, they will both conflict to each other and essentially freeze your pc if you both use 2 antivirus. Just use 1 antivirus and 1 malwarescanner. I prefer you try Avast as an antivirus program and Malwarebytes as a second in command line of defense. I use both of them and my pc is really immune to any common viruses and malwares. Try them and they're both free. And bitdefender, umm like so-so
Nice one Brian!
Thanks.
there's 3 different downloads to avast which one should i download? internet security?
you can get 90days for BitDefender TS 2016 from facebook
Nice Video Brain! Can you please make a video on how to make a Universal Bootable Ghost Window 7 or 8 on a flash drive so it can be install on any system along with applications and settings. Its been my long time request.
Thanks Regards
I have not forgot, its on my list todo
Can't go wrong with avast! Security Suite (overkill)
Hey Brian, I've Avast Internet Security which is cracked paid version.
Does the paid version gets extra features? or just the standard program with no other things?
Well you always get more with the paid version.
Always been safe using Avast and Malwarebytes combo.
Nice video...thanks for that...using ESET
I like ESET.
You know that bitdefender is using the avast engine and his own singnatures. So bitdefender wil detect more virusses
Nice for avast :) brian try to test more free antivirus :)
Do the same test with Comodo internet security and Kaspersky.
personally I want my antivirus software to detect viruses, not block me from going to web pages.
Brian ,Do i really need an av on a linux system please.I have received conflicting reports on this...Thanks.
Well Linux is a safe OS, but that's only because more people use Windows, so it makes sense to attack Windows users because there is more of them. I am sure if they wanted to target Linux and infected it they could very easy. But there just isn't that many users using Linux or I should say as many as Windows. So do you need a AV? probably not, but on the other hand it won't hurt to use one.
Thank you brian...Much appreciated and thanks for your excellent videos.
Britec09 Pretty silly considering most servers that contain the sensitive data they're after to begin with are running Linux. (usually Redhat or CentOS but some still occasionally do run Suse.)
3 Engines. HitmanPro, Malwarebytes, and HitmanPro.alert. :D
Thanks Brian :-))
They did very well, dont install norton unless you like a crippled machine.
We have it on the sally army pc's and its a bloody pain in the bum :-((
Yeah not a big fan of Norton myself.
Yes new video
Your welcome.
I had to go back to windows 8.1so my girlfriend could use the computer for some online classes but I miss Linux and not having to mess with all this :-/
hey Britec .. can i safely use window 7 without using antivirus ?
NO
I use avg, malewarebytes, and ccleaner. I never get a virus. I created a video that includes a link to the zip file I uploaded with all the aforementioned programs in it. I thought it would make it easier for those looking for good freeware with no add on's
Might as well use Avast!, avast bought out AVG and they use the same engine now.
i like to put avast free with comodo firewall or kaspersky antivirus+comodo firewall or eset nod32+comodo firewall im using the eset one and it has malwarebytes premium
I think BitDefender pay version is outstanding.
I am using Avira Ultimate Protection Suite
Any AV is better than none.
Britec09 can you do a test with avast! mobile security
Can someone please answer this, I don't understand why anyone would pay for an antivirus if a free version is just as good? What are the benefits of getting a paid version?
Most of the time a free version is only a trial
Oh right i see, thanks
yea i just payed for 1 year with norton
Are u stupid norton is crap!
You shouldve got bit defender or avast man
which windows 7 are you using please answer
64bit professional
Britec09 thank you
Is Avast free with Comodo firewall, and Malwarebytes pro any good??
Please Help!!
ABSOLUTELY!!! Great combo to use. Avast! Free as your AV. Malwarebytes Pro for a second opinion scan and top of the line virus removal capabilities. Comodo Firewall is one heck of a firewall when tweaked / configured to meet your needs. Meaning....Some people want to see every pop up every time there's a potential intrusion attempt and make their own decision as to block or allow it. Some people, on the other hand, look for a fire and forget type of firewall configuration, and configure Comodo Firewall to handle all potential threats without notification to the user.
Rob Chrisom Thanks for the help man :)
No problem at all. It should be noted that the old standard 'To each his own' applies here. LOL. All 3 products you mentioned needing help with are all very popular and rate extremely high. I should've mentioned that it's always a 'best practice' to make sure your computer is clean and virus / malware free before installing Avast! & Comodo Firewall. Simply download and install Malwarebytes Pro and run a full scan with it. Quarantine and then delete anything malicious that Malwarebytes finds - if anything. Malwarebytes really shines in the detection and removal of potentially unwanted programs, trojans etc. Once your system is 'clean', I'd go ahead and uninstall any programs that you don't use or need. Restart your computer and then install CCleaner. Run a scan with CCleaner and clean out what it finds. CCleaner is also very popular freeware and very effective. After that, run a registry scan with CCleaner and clean that up as well. Restart your system again and install Avast! & Comodo Firewall. You should be good to go!
yes very good, but try and get Avast paid version. I have Avast internet Security and Malwarebytes. the paid version has real time protection and automatic updates. I always felt a paid version is probably better than a free version just my paranoia I guess. good luck.
you tube 425 Thanks man I will give it a try
Brian, what's the link to free Avast
You don't know the difference between blocked and dead?
*****:D He doesn't XD
I do like Avast
Your a Avast Fan boy lol
Britec09 prefer Comodo ,the most ,But Geekbuddy, and adds are getting to be a bit much.
Can we see a malwarebytes vs free malwarebytes test
7:08 Look at the second file's name O.o
Brian what about Malwarebytes Pro?
Malwarebytes pro, not the free version. Pro has real time protection
I'm already infected with a lot,of virus. will it still fix,it or,do I need a,paid version
Just reinstall til whole drive, that's the best option and has a higher chance of working.
Been watching to much porn, eh?
Ethan MacRoberts no
Ethan MacRoberts nyway i got a new pc
Thats nice bro!
you should make a video on how to fix black screens
black screen's of death there can be many reasons for the type of error.
can i have your viruses file for my av-test? thanks
In my opinion Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is the "best"
But we all got different definitions of "Best"
But now i got two Anti-Malware Programs, The head one is F-Secure and the second one is Malwarebytes. people also say that two Anti-Malware programs will take out each other, but oh well #YOLO
aNASTYfeed No it won't. Malwarebytes is design for maximum compatibility with other true major known antiviruses out there. Malwarebytes is one of the few exempt from the never run 2 antivirus proactive protection rule. Because of the tradeback Malwarebytes has to do to be more as a compliment secondary defense for your main antivirus, Malwarebytes is not recommended to be use alone.
And i woute my self... "But now i got two Anti-Malware Programs, The head one is F-Secure and the second one is Malwarebytes." never said it was best ALONE. Just said it was "best" ;)
Giving you insurance since you sounded unsure hearing the popular myth that Malwarebytes Pro version conflict with other Antivirus.
Could you test avira free version?
I think webroot is the best antivirus, i've thrown every cliver malware, spayware, wormware, and virus, webroot always killed them all!
Not tested webroot in ages
Britec09 I use the paid version and as a fellow computer specialist, i highly recommend you test the webroot, you won't be disappointed. Avast is great for tech's because you can have "exceptions" but in webroot, everything is locked and truly it works real well. it's probably more bullet proof than Apples security systems.
AXHEJAZ
Just a say here AVG is not good at all reason a user who has AVG and then in future tries to change the Windows logon password it lets u change it but then after a reboot u will find user profile logon failed problem, ive got experience in it as i work for a firm and i come across so many of these logon profile problems which customers bring to me and believe me every computer i fixed had AVG on it, there is a simple fix from microsoft if u know the registry well enough here it is support.microsoft.com/kb/947215
AXHEJAZ
I quit using AVG the minute they made it bloatware. It's now as bad as McAffe and Norton. It chugs systems, and has become a horrible product. I stopped using it after version 7.
kjemradio they seem to be bloating out the free versions to get people to but the paid version.
Avast! is the Best!
Avast is what I use on my bench machine
I use AVG free and Comodo firewall (free).
Yeah nice combo
Actually I just uninstalled Comodo x64, I thought I had an (unknown) hardware issue (System specs are intel dual-core sandybridge,12gb ram,amd 7790) I ran in-dept hard drive diagnostic tests and did a new windows 7 install and thought it was maybe a motherboard problem but then ran across a discussion thread that Comodo x64 is very buggy and causes problems for Windows 7 ,64 bit. I uninstalled Comodo in safe mode and installed Zonealarm instead, all problems & system instability problems are gone, system is running perfect now,So..
why do people not like norton?
TheStefanPizza It`s proven to slow down your computer and delete false positives [ Games, movies, ect]
The best Anit-virus software you can have is... Your brain.
Yeah it comes down to user most of the time.
