Formosa did not "fall" to Republic of China, the country simply was occupied by Chinese troops on the order of General Douglas MacArthur to receive surrender from Japan which had renounced this former territory without naming a new sovereign, more specifically not to China, leaving the islands of Formosa, Pescadores and Sprately's to the country of Taiwan. Taiwan should not be defined by it larger neighbor. Taiwan is an outstanding country that deserves a place of its own.
