Why Brian even wanted to marry Gail again, just blows my mind. She always wanted to be the one calling the shots. She was so aggravating. Nothing made her happy.
It all got so much worse after her affair with Ian. And after she had Sarah it's like she aged about 30 years and has stayed the very same until today. Insufferable.

Gail tells Pauline she wasn't sure about taking Brian back, and she's adamant she doesn't want to re-marry him. Two seconds later, she's accepting his proposal. It's official, she's a flipping head- case.
Who else thinks Fanny Carby was too young to play Amy ( Vera’s mum?) unless Amy did like Sarah Lou did years later-and had Vera at 13! Just checked-Fanny Carby was born in 1925, Liz Dawn was born in 1939, so Amy is actually only 14 years older than Vera!
Is Gaile ever happy? She cheated on Brian, he came back and forgave her and heck he wants to buy a house for the family and tie the knot again with Gaile (he must be mad).
Brilliant 😊. A sketch featuring some classic Brian Tilsley...It's just amazing how any one individual can be so unbelievably wooden.i can only imagine he was taunted beyond belief which just made him more driven.
Oh Gail is such a misery guts! So are Harridan Jenny, Mavis, Derek, Kevin and Vera. Sally is a breath of fresh air, even if she over acts a tad at this stage of her career! Thanx for all the wonderful up loads.
I can't warm to this Gloria. She's not the worst character by any means but she is a bit of a non entity and has boring storylines. I think Sue Jenkins played a more memorable character in Brookside.
The two actors who play Mavis and Harry are only 3 years apart in age, but yet the storyline makes Harry out to be an ancient old pensioner. Thelma Barlow was 59 when these were filmed and Keith Marsh was 62. As for Gail she is the most miserable whiner of Corrie ever. She gives me a frustration headache just watching her.
Surprised no one so far as recognised the young actress Nicola Stephenson (the Cabin papergirl) who some six years later was one half of the famous Brookside same-sex kiss along with Anna Friel. Seems a bit tame now, but at the time very shocking.
@@bsaunders5271 Yes you did make a comment about Nicola, but not until her second short stint on the show some 4 months later when you commented in the June 1988 section.

Jenny's whiney voice and tantrums, Alec's constant, miserly ways, Mavis's permenant hysterics, and most irritatingly of all... Sally Webster, have me reaching for the gas tap.
Often hard to pinpoint an exact turning point but it's fair to argue that Hilda's departure at Christmas 1987 marked the start of Corrie going significantly downhill. I'd add the awful Don Brennan to your list of irritating new characters. A combination of wooden (like his leg would be in a few years time), and ridiculous over-acting.
I'd say the turning point was late 1983. The cracks were already there, and in 1984 they battled on, with enough links to proper Corrie, but by 1985 it was something good but very different. Nobody is indispensable, as a rule, but after Hilda left there was an enormous void. @kevinfowkes2327
@@bibakroll8999 Outside Broadcast. Basically, all the exterior shots are now recorded on videotape, like in the studio and there's a uniform look. They stopped using film for exteriors.
That’s not true, they used OB cameras for some location work right back to the beginning, sometimes blending with film. Then sometime in the 1970s union regulations meant film was used for *all* location scenes (even Eastenders on location in Venice wasn’t spared this), finally relaxing the requirement in February 1988.

I really don't understand Gloria. She knows full well what Mike is like with women and yet she continues to chase him. I think he nailed it near the end though about her being jealous. Evidently, jealousy plays a fundamental role in her character. I haven't forgotten the way she carried on when she was just casually seeing Alan at the same time Rita was. She just cannot stand a little bit of competition, but she needs to learn that is the way it goes until two people make up their minds to commit to one another. Alan never owed her anything back then and neither does Mike now. I think she should just stay single and begin working on her maturity level. Then maybe she can consider embarking on a relationship when she has grown up a wee bit. Right now she is just way out of her depth every time she tries, and quite frankly continues to make herself look more and more silly.
Not just you, she is probably the worst character ever on the Street. I have never felt compassion for her in any storyline, she's a whiney harridan and seems to have been since birth. No matter what anyone says, she is 1,000 times worse than Ivy ever was. Ivy used to cause arguments because they meant something to her, Gail just causes arguments for the sake of fighting. Horrible character.
For a fairly young woman, Gail’s hair by this point is hideously out of date. Because of that, it really ages her. Even Deirdre has the 80’s layers and perm by this point. But Gail’s still got that heavy 70s mop.
Had to check if Priscilla ( with her attitude) could by any chance be Cilla Battersby-Brown, but Cilla Battersby Brown was born in 1965- making her 23 at this point. Bit old to be a paper girl ( and yes, I know Harry’s older, but she certainly wouldn’t do it to contribute, like Harry was!)
Brian is a slow learner. If he wanted a big wedding, he should've told Gail he wanted a registry office due. Of course, he wants his bumps feeling for going back to the woman that took another man into HIS bed.
