What I like most about these powered speaker is they come with those propriety speaker cables that predetermine your placement. If you need a bit more length to go around furniture, these will allow you to do so.
Speaker grills? Some households have small kids. So there's that. The bass on a ported speaker can typically be tweaked by moving the speaker closer/further from the wall. I have mine 8" away otherwise the bass get too boomy (and a bit fatiguing) for my taste. You're absolutely right about the color.
Just like in the add if you live in an apartment with those ubiquitous white wall like I have then white speaker would blend right in. Also, the AMT tweeter is what makes the TUK special. It a step above the dome tweeter. I don't think it helps them out if you say their product is garbage. Fortunately, for everybody concerned Kanto is confident they're at the top of their class. BTW, you can boost the bass if your source is a computer (Windows) and go to enhancements > bass management > apply.
AMT are not above dome tweeters, they just perform differently. Sometimes sounding a little more natural depending on tuning (going by Martin Logan). The dome tweeters in my 704s can go to 47khz and are magic in the high end more so than I’ve heard from a AMT tweeter.
They look gorgeous!
Too bad I am not into powered speakers otherwise I would have added a pair to my shopping list.
My Transparent One Encore's in cherry just shipped today, glad to see where you ranked these :)
Hey Joe I been seeing these speakers a lot lately nice review gave you a shout out as a recommended audio reviewer to watch on my last video drop last night, appreciate all your hard work and input on audio equipment
I was playing some jazz tonight on my Tuk's and they were putting out so much bass I had to check my sub. I don't think Kanto's claim of 50hz-20khz is right either because I also have a pair of Audioengine A5+'s which supposedly have the same frequency response but the Kanto's definitely produce deeper bass
I didn't know they came with grilles. I prefer grilles, so the TUK is now even more attractive for me.
I also like the volume level indicator, the headphone jack, the dedicated phono input, and the sub out.
I look forward to hearing the TUK in person. Thanks for the detailed review!
Bought them in white with the 10% discount! Thanks Joe for the 10% back in my pocket.
Let me know what you think of them when you get them.
Those look really nice! I am surprised adn excited to see the Dinas still doing so well against such high end products like the Kanto Tuk's. You're killing it like always!
Thank you! It's amazing that what you were able to do with the Dinas. I couldn't have asked for anything more. It was above and beyond.
Very tempted to get one, it’s beautiful
Love the video! I'm planning on getting these for my new PC speakers and was going to pair them with the Sub8. Do you think this is overkill or would it open up the Tuks more? Thanks!
hey Joe i bought them yesterday in black with the SUB8 can't wait to have them here
It's crazy that there's reviews out there saying they lack bass. lmao
I don't know what they're doing wrong or what I'm doing right. 😂
@@joentell Right? lol
Especially since there's also a bass/treble option aside from the default tuning.
@Daniel Kim I have the Sub8 from when i used it with my Audioengine A5+ but the TUK's don't even need a sub. Atleast for me since i have a smaller room.
I wish you wouldn't have just skipped over the LED button on the remote. I've read that you can dim the front LEDs, but can you turn them off completely? For me that's one of the most important features. I've disregarded so many other active speakers, because having a light shine at me is a serious no-go.
(tl:dw; yes it goes off completely) ruclips.net/video/1QpwQUKvKys/видео.html
Thank you for this review!
So the TUK and the YU6 are almost the same weight.
Maybe thicker cabinet on the YU6's?
YU6 and TUK weigh the same at 20.1 lb
Kanto Audio Thank you for your answer. So the active Yu6 is 5.2kg and the passive one is 4.0kg while the active Tuk is 5.0kg and the passive one is 4.5kg.
I‘ve read 9.1kg for the Yu6 on amazon and thought it is only for one speaker.
Thanks for clearing this up!
Just ordered a set of tuks...can't wait! Replacing my audioengine A5 plus speakers. I use them with my pc snd i have a 42 oled monitor so i can watch movies and play games. I also hsve an emotiva RS11 sub I'm gonna use with them. I also have a set of the kanto stands they are very heavy duty and high quality!
I’d love to know what there like gaming?
AMT is a big selling point. So is capable low end.
This speakers look awesome in white finished
hello joe. i have a question.. hard one for me, easy for you i hope.. :D
kanto tuk at 699€
or
Kanto yu2 + kanto sub8 499€.
witch one will sound "better"? i seek good sound, not an audiophile, common person who likes clean sound. never had a bookshelf speaker, only have a logitech z5500.
thank you, keep up the good job, love the vids.
from Portugal
Can you run an optical cable straight from the motherboard to these..or what’s the best connection to a pc
Be like to have these 25% smaller. I like that kanto went higher end with these, but they're to big and i do have the sub8.
Hello Joe, they seem great, but I find the 700 price tag a bit pricey. I feel that a $499 would be a great sweet spot. Not that they are not worth $700 just that there are other options in the mix at that cost, not just on amplified speakers, but in a combo of separates and passive speakers.
Picked up the Black Matt and Sub8
these are incredible. Picked up for $599 which is a great price I noticed lately the price has shot up to $899 which I would not have purchased if that was the price but at $599 that was worth the price of admission
do you know why the price did go up this much?
@@DavWoe I do not. Do you? Everything has gone up it seems
Can you review some swan and edifier powered bookshelf speakers.
Maybe one day. It's tough to keep up. Always new stuff coming out and lots of requests from people.
Recently ordered these in Matte White and i'll have them Friday. :D
Currently have the AudioEngine A5+ and their D1 Dac.
Really excited for all the features, especially the sub active crossover. I actually bought the Kanto Sub 8 in Gloss White a few years ago cause it was quite a bit cheaper than AE's Sub. Excited for Bluetooth and Optical connection too.
Since this has a built in headphone dac/optical input i won't have any need for the AE D1 DAC right?
I'm also curious because my sub 8 has both L/R channel but the TUK's just have the single sub out, would it benefit at all from a splitter?
The manual for the sub 8 says you can just use either the left or the right channel, which i'm assuming would be good?
EDIT: I actually ordered a Y cable, did some research and found out it'd provide higher dB at lower volume for the sub than if i went with just mono channel!
Still curious about the dac/optical though since the TUK have both.
Only reason i use the Audioengine DAC is for the optical.
Oh i also ordered Kanto SP6HDW (Desktop Stands) these should hold the TUK's securely right?
On their site they show the TUK's on them.
Hello joel, kanto tuk or klipsch the fives for movies and music? Thanks!!!!!

Since you have a few with the AMT tweeter, how come you evade Adam Audio's lower and mid-lines in comparison? I am confused or figure your mind is made up against studio quality with additional balanced inputs. Specifically test the T5V, T7V, A3V, A5V, A7V, A8V and how they stack-up vs. those plz!
Not evading. Lol. I would love to review their stuff. Companies often reach out to me! My schedule is full. If Adam Audio wants to reach out to me, I'm not hard to find. I've heard great things though.
Joe, I need help selecting the right speakers for my PC, I'm doing video editing but I love good sounding music..currently I have a set of edifiers (R1850DB) with edifier sub connect to one system, the sound is great, the edifiers are plugged into Creative Sound Blaster Sound Card.. the card was designed for gamers.. I listen to mostly Jazz and it has to sound perfect.. I have an audiofile ear and taste.
so I'm building another system (PC) and I was looking at Audioengine 5+ , Knato YU6 or Kanto TUK .. my budget was $500 but after seeing the Kantyo TUK.. I'm willing to stretch it a little
Have you ever heard of this sound card (ESSENCE STX II ASUS Hi-Fi Quality Sound Card with Headphone Amp Japan).. it has rca connectors or should I just connect the speakers directly to the mother board?
260 w peak! 65 w rms no way Joe,beautiful grill s
I got me some. They have a natural strong bass. We just don't usually hear what's in the music. They sound perfect in my small listening room. The tone control is very limited, as there isn't a lot more bass or treble beyond flat. Adding an EQ before the signal hits the speaker would be the way to shape your sound to taste. I love the speakers. There is nothing I hate about them, and that is rare. The included DAC is aright. The headphone out is weak and can't drive high impedance headphones well. The Phono Preamp is decent, much much better than the phono pre on the Kanto YU6, which is very poor.. I run through my Schiit Mani which is noticeably more detailed.
These look incredible, just above my pay grade though.
Q: have you ever reviewed or considered reviewing Inexpensive Chinese bookshelf speakers like the Edifier one's?
I have one set and to me they sound alright but I'd like to hear an opinion from a audiophile
Awesome review, I’m looking to get desktop speakers for
My new iMac ,I’m considered the Tuks or the YU6 with the sub 8 , however if I hookup the YU6 using the headphone input , I lose connectivity of headphone use. Which set up do you like better sonically? The Tuks would be through Bluetooth listening through iTunes. I lean towards detailed full sound. Just wanna get your thoughts , not sure which route to go?
Headphone input? Why would you do that? These speakers are multimedia so you're covered all around. They have a 3.5mm port as well as a A-B USB port for computer.
Can you do a review on Edifier speakers .. They're impressive considering the price point they're at ..
Watch ZEOS PANTERA if you want to know about Edifier speakers.
They are some of the best out there.
Swan also makes Excellent speakers!!!
Edifier hasn't shown me any love. 😉 They wanted to send me their low end models right after I just reviewed the ELAC Navis ARB-51's at $2000. I told them at least send me their higher end stuff so I can compare them side by side. I was curious about the Air Pulse.
@@joentell .. The Air Pulse there's not much reviews about them .. Hope Edifier comes good and give an Air Pulse unit for you to review. Maybe send them an email or two .. Would love to see you objective assessment on the Air Pulse.
How is this compared to Kef LSX
Which is better sound in any music or movies the speakers Brands Kanto Tuf-Klipsch Fives-KEF LS50 wireless-DynaAudio-Presonus-AudioEngines-Yamaha-QAcoustics-Mackie?
Are they really worth the extra $300 compared to the YU6? Unlike the Tuks, the YU6 have both AUX and RCA inputs, and the TUKs only have one optical input. Feature-wise the YU6 are better. The lack of bass on the YU6 can easily be remedied with a sub.
Never seen this inverted rubber surround before, maybe it's good these have a grille, so no dust settles in there. Dunno if that is a concern at all?
Joe one day can you vlog ah speakers 1000w with ah power amplifier, because i love a home treater thank you so much
Could you pick up a pair of the Klipsch R-51PMs? They run from $300-450. I'd like to see how they stack up in your opinion to some of these much more expensive speakers.
Hi Joe. I need your advice. Im about to order a pair of Tuk´s and not shore what speaker stand to buy, 26" or 32"? Thanks in advance for so much use full information, I enjoy and find your videos very pro without been to audiopholic... Isaac from Spain
Measure how high the tweeter needs to be when you're in your listening position. So take the distance from the bottom of the speaker to the tweeter into account. It should be the same level as your ears.
they say take my money vthanks for ur review cheers
😂 "take my money" 💵💸 I'm glad you enjoyed the review.
i have the yu5 so i think i need to upgrade!!!
Definitely an upgrade!
I may be totally missing the boat on this speaker category, as I am looking for high quality speaker to replace a sound-bar. That being said, your ratings do not show KEF LSX or or LS-50. Is there a reason I should not consider them?
so like, the bass is what keeps getting talked about here but does everything else sound just as good?
Look at my video with the frequency response graphs. That will tell you a lot.
If price wasn't an issue would you pick the Vanatoo T1Es or the Kanto Tuks?
Man these look badass.. would you suggest these over the fluance ai60s for overall use including music production?
Hey Joe, thanks for the discount code...when will it expire?
These or the SVS Ultra bookshelves? I'm also looking to buy a center channel and rear surrounds...with the curiosity to upgrade it later to atmos. Any suggestions?
Wonder how these are compared with the klipsch fives
Hi! For personal listening to music while working, do these even need a SUB?
They look good and I like good bass so I am wondering if they are selling in Europe ? Have to look that
I wish these were studio monitors
Anyone using these getting any high-pitched whining from the active side? I just got a pair and even with no source connected, I'm getting a whine that I suspect is coming from the amp since I can hear from the port in the rear on the active speaker but not from the passive speaker.
Were you considering looking at Focal bookshelfs at some point?
I'm open to anything really. As long as it's good
@@joentell I would be interested in a Focal review. Maybe some Focal Aria?
A little unrelated to this video but what would you recommend as a center channel for Denton’s 85th? Lack of a matched center is the only thing holding me back from getting Denton’s.
Good question. Maybe something from the Diamond 11 series.

Could you pease help me out, I am about to buy a svs SB2000pro OR svs PB 2000pro. First Question is what should I buy ported or closed subwoofer?.. second one is... Should I get Yu6 loudspeaker or or The TUK Loudspeaker? I mean you said its about the less bass on yu6 so with an extern subwoofer you could fill the empty of bass isn´t it right? I want to listen to music and watch netflix (film or series).... But as I said I will be buying a subwoofer and I need stereo speakers with subwoofer out. Please help me out :))
Ported will be louder and play lower bass but is significantly larger. You can get either YU6 or TUK, but the TUK allows a high pass filter meaning you can allow your sub to take care of all the bass so you can also play it louder.
If you want any more one on one advice, please message me on Patreon patreon.com/joentell. I get lots of requests here and it's difficult to answer them all.
@@joentell many thanks for answering that quick, but I Think that you do not need to have the ported one because the Sb2000 is already loud enough right?

I currently have Yamaha HS8, are these better?
I think very different target demographics.
Need me a pair of these then if you love EDM
They cool but no XLR or TRS. If they were made for Studios then yea I would take a listen to them.
They were not meant for studio use
They're multimedia speakers, so the ports are designed for that. Still, it is easily adapted to all of the above if need be.
Krane yea I’m just weird. I like everything to have XLR or TRS connections. Everything I run is gold plated.
is that a ribbon tweeter?
No it's an AMT
@@joentell I thought AMT is a type of ribbon
I've heard people say folded ribbon, but without doing some searching, I don't know if that's technically correct
@@joentell What I found surprised me because I thought an AMT tweeter was a type of ribbon: "The Air Motion Transformer (AMT) is a type of electroacoustic transducer. It operates on a different transduction principle from other loudspeaker designs, such as moving coil, planar magnetic or electrostatically driven loudspeakers, and should not be confused with planar or true ribbon loudspeakers"
Looks a lot like monitor audio speakers
Anybody compared these with the kef lsx?
Between these and the vanatoo t1e, in a living room scenario, which has more defined and prominent vocals?
This is most important to me because they will be used often for TV shows and movies, and the fact that I won't have a center channel makes me really concerned about clear dialogue that stands out from other sound effects
Also this would be WITH a sub connected
It's really tough to say, because a lot has to do with how the speakers interact with your room and where you sit in relation to the speakers. I think both are capable of producing clear vocals.
@@joentell Joe N Tell Thanks for the reply! I guess what I meant to ask was if the sound signature of either speaker set is more "vocals forward" than the other, but it sounds like they are about the same or at least similar enough for it to not matter. One other question I wanted to ask was if either speaker has a more generous "sweet spot" than the other, and how the sound stage compares between the two. Thanks again!
@@joentell On a desk with a subwoofer, which one would be your pick for reproducing the mids and highs?
Thanks!
The Vanatoo are more accurate near-field with a sub. Without a sub, the TUK's have more bass.
B&W Formation not on the leaderboard yet?
so SVS Ultra still a step or two better sounding?
The Ultras are very flat/accurate and are really good for home theater use. Music also. The Ultras are perfect when you pair it to one of their subs.
