Umm it sounds like the voice channels were turned down and the background music is at a default level. Sounds like what they need is an editor with a passion for editing.... correctly.
Hard to follow, the music overpowers the narration
I lost words out of my mouth, engineering technology and science humans brain is more than what I can imagine.
I'm very emotional, lots of love and hugs to all of you engineers, technicians that worked on this Boeing 747.
You guys just awesome.
My Dad worked directly for Boeing as a electrician for the planes on the maintenance crew, I am so proud of his 15-20 years he served to make sure that all electrical components were wired and functioned correctly cause the electrical is the life blood of what can keep a plane up in the air as well as take off and landing.
His by the book attitude when it came to working on these behemoths makes him a very respectable, I inherited his same attitude when it comes to doing any job.
I am an aircraft electrician as well.
I have said for years that electrical systems must be 100%, 100% of the time.
This is true for aircraft, cars or buildings. Must be 100% all the time.
It is tedious work that requires acute attention to detail to be checked and verified several time over.
I've been a design engineer for the engine build-up (EBU) since 1991. And after so many new projects from the ground up and re-engining programs, it still fascinating and blows my mind how those engines are able to push the heavy bodies through the air for so many hours non-stop. Kudos to those women and men that put them together and to maintain them in such a good condition!
I might of watched ALL of this had it not been for the audio level rising and falling. Too bad.
Absolutely love this documentary but next time please watch the music versus the commentary. The music is way too loud even my closed caption couldn't accurately determine the words being said. Other than that - amazing video!! Please make more. I'd love to see an entire series on airplane engineering!
Fantastic video. Shame about the poor audio mixing! Same with other videos in the series.
I've been an aircraft technician since my days in the US Air Force and then into my civilian career.
The amount of dedication to excellence that goes into keeping these awesome machines in service never ceases to amaze me.
Hats off to all of my colleagues around the world! I love you all.
We all have the safety of our passengers foremost at heart.
Imagine the satisfaction of building it in the first place. Concept, design, build, test flight....
I was working 1988 for Cummings Engine based in Columbus, Indiana. And just arrived at Sea-Tac and on my way into Seattle. I was surprised by a Boeing 747-400 coming in for landing at Boeing field next to and along the I-5! It was a magnificent view to see so close! A few years later I had my first opportunity to travel on the upper deck of a new Korean Air 747-400 from JFK roundtrip to Seoul, Korea. Those 15 hr flights on this aircraft were certainly a lifetime experience! I received once a free upgrade to first class in seat A1 from Dallas-Ft Worth to Tokyo with an American Airlines 747-400. Actor Angela Landsbergis, in "Murder she Wrote" had seat B1. She was a very pleasant and interesting travel companion. My seat A1 was special! I was sitting so far in the furthest part of the nose cone that I had a view forward. I had a great view when we landed in Tokyo! American Airlines service from Dallas-Ft Worth to Tokyo in first class is a unique experience and about the best I have experienced! A British Airways flight on a new 747-400 from Dulles Washington to Heathrow was also a great experience. It was easy to notice how happy and proud the crew was on that new 747! That made the flight so much special. I am concerned if an epic epoch in air travel will be over when other aircraft are replacing the 747-400?
She will ALWAYS be the "Queen of the Skies". I actually got a little teary eyed by the end of the video. To see and feel the pride of these engineers in seeing their charge taking so beautifully back to the skies. (The audio was atrocious, though.)
777, 350, etc are so ‘meh’.
And now a lot of 747s have been retired 😔
I couldn't help but drop a tear when seeing the 747 demolished at the end.
impossible to handle for me, gotta fast-forward or shut it down!!
I know its coming as I'm still watching while checking out the comments....God help me...I may well skip that part...So glad I'm not the only one...
"I have never heard of a 747 getting down to flying with those 3 instruments, there is a huge amount of redundency". Not a 747 but the United Airlines crash of a DC-10 had complete hydraulic failure. This was so unexpected that there was not even a checklist for it.
My favorite Jet in this life, no jet will ever top the 747.
Tracci Quartermaine cries in Concorde
I’ve always been fascinated with the airline industry. This video has reinforced my love for the industry.
Just looking at that Queen Of The Skies take off gives me goosebumps!
What a beautiful big bird....I'll always love the 747..
yeah its so hot
I went back and watched the original I had recorded when it was broadcast in 2012, and the volume of the music is much quieter in that version - you can hardly hear the music when they are talking. Seems like somewhere between the original production and this RUclips version the audio mix was messed up, as whoever created the original audio did the job just fine. I wonder how that happens?
What a fantastic documentary about the 747 Jumbo Jet and particularly those excellent British engineers who put this fantastic flying machine safely back to flying millions of passengers around the world , I am very greatful to all those British Engineers who I belive are the BEST or One Of The Best in the world
Airplane demolition makes me so sad... Rest in peace you beautiful bird!
i cant handle it, gotta fast-forward to the process end or shut it down!!
It's good to know that I'm not the only one feeling sad when witnessing the end of such a majestic & wonderous machine.
It’s not the end it’s being maintenance it will fly again
One of those few last places where qualified workers are doing quality work...
they are out there buddy all over the world = quality work
as a first year 6th former that aspires to become an engineer in the flight industry this was a very entertaining and educational video, it isnt every day that you get to see the insides of these planes and i hope to one day be carrying out some of these jobs myself. it is unfortunate that the audio from the music was overpowering at points but still a very entertaining video and i applaud the effort that has gone into it
Could have been a really ground-breaking video but the needless racket from the background music spoils so very many of these documentary type video's and if you put the subtitles on they seem meaningless to what we are watching.
Seems pointless to pile on, but yeah, the interesting information is covered up with music.
But yet you had to ?
That's done because they stole the documentary, by covering much with music, the AI can't identify it as the original
@@someoneelse7629 indeed that is the case. if you search for "engineering giants" you can find several releases of it. look for the earliest, the audio is better.
After watching this, I will never take flying for granted again..
The ending was so nice. When she takes to the night sky with the staff watching
I must say I cried when she took off.
The Jumbo is a wonderful plane.
For me the 747 is the most wonderful plane ever!
So thats how the wheels fit after takeoff. I have always wondered how they would fit underneath the airplane. Now my childhood question has finally been answered after 32 years.
Man, the things that humans make are INCREDIBLE.
I can’t believe the 747 is naw retired. I’m crying because it’s gone. I’m lost with words I can’t believe it
Unfortunately all good things come to an end and these inclement times don't help. A lot off airlines are heading for more efficient aircraft now to keep costs down. I understand quantes has retired most if not all its jumbos now.
Even though they were improved dramatically over 50 years they didn't do too bad considering some passenger airplanes didn't last half as long. There is one consolation i understand watching programmes online that some jumbos are being converted into cargo luggers so still life in some old gal's yet .
I hope this makes feel better. 😷😁🌈
@@brianfearn4246 thx. It did make me feel better. But I still can’t believe my childhood plane just gone
I took my first 747 when I was 4 traveling to Riyhad, Saudi Arabia from the US. Then flying back home when I was older. My father was stationed there in the US Army.
The music frequently wipes out the voices. Might as well watch it with the sound off.
Loved this, one of the best aviation videos I've watched, nothing like getting under the nuts & bolts of these beautiful aviation wonders.
Under the nuts huh😏😩
Yes! Absolutely agree 👍
The 747 is not "affectionately known as the 'jumbo jet'". That is what it's actually called.
It's affectionately called the "Queen of the Skies"!
Good documentary ruined by very poor audio mixing.
Joseph Kalai yes.. that is the correct label for 747. Jumbo is suited with A380
I can't figure out if these docs are made for kids or adults. Alot of the dialogue is so juvenile and they try to create excitment about things only kids will find exciting. Oh wow, I get to push this button to make lightning happen... come on.
Thank you it is called the queen of the Skies
@@aqiemhan9901 a38p susck
@Aqiem Han B747 is called the “jumbo jet”. A380 is called the “Superjumbo”.
who would want to listen to this when you hear music so loud you cant understand a word people are saying 3 minuites was enough to ruin possibly a very interesting documentry
Yes, the music is too loud compared to the dialog. For some reason, that's a common editing mistake almost all new content creators make in their early videos.
It's like so many new content creators have never spent much time *_watching_* You Tube videos and thinking, "The intro music on this guy's video is way too loud! *_That's_* a mistake I'm not gonna make on *_my_* videos!"

I love seeing one of these things taking off at Heathrow.
I'm from South Wales and I laughed when the man said "Bampi"! It's South Wales slang for Grandfather.
in Flanders that would be Bompi
@@MrSvenovitch could swear I've heard this used to address elders in Hawaii?
Thumbnail says king of the skies
Yet the 747
Is the queen of the skies
the original is perfectly edited, this is knocked off
Where is the original, though

You're the best.
@@driftrich - ... and ... no Ads! Yay!
Brilliant documentary and very fascinating to watch!
But yeah, as so many have said, the music simply was interfering too much with the narration, it's a shame. Apart from that it was awesome!
Watching in 2020 as all the airlines are retiring their 747 fleet. I wish I could have flown on one, I've never flown overseas, so never been on the queen of the sky's.
I painted 747's in the 90's, best job ever.....
I would love to have that type of job.
The biggest best airliner ever that can be completely destroyed by a single piece of duct tape
So... You play dramatic music and the plane is good as new. Thats what I'm learning from this video. lol
I guess old topgear music director found his way to spark
An exciting and educational video, thank you SPARK.
What a fab video, love the 747 big like from me 👍
Well done. Says this Canadian pilot/engineer.
Safe flying Captain 💖.
Very interesting. I flew by first class on the upper deck on a British Airways 747 from St Lucia Caribbean. This is my favourite plane with the Airbus A380 coming 2nd. Great quality video. Thanks for sharing
Quality video? OK, but the audio was horrific. Great plane though. I last flew on a 747 from Seattle to Seoul back in '98. I'm still impressed today with that machine. Magnificent is an understatement.
A330 neo is my 2nd fave next to the B 747
That deafening ROAR when them engines turn on and take off is a RUSH!
Queen of the skies. She's a beaut!
I love how the show a 747 throttle quadrant but then a 737 cockpit
Would have nice to have you visit BOEING in Renton, Washington USA to witness the construction of the 747!
I love the 747s. I think everyone has a great love and fondness for them. They are as loved as Concorde. Icons. Sad they are being phased out.
She is not the "King of the Sky". She is the "Queen of the Sky"!
And I agree, they need to do better then having the narrator talking over the hosts! Terrible!
I have many wonderful memories traveling aboard the 74 Jumbo queen of the sky will Alway's be my favorite
Seems like an interesting documentary. Would love to see a version of it where the narrator isn't buried -40dB underneath the plane sounds and weird synth msuic. I love aviation history and I bet the stuff he's saying is super interesting. They should let a non-insane person mix the audio!
Tedious work!!!
For your information , the Jumbo Jet is still build in the Biggest construction building on Earth , near Seattle . Something that still makes me feel astonished by
The sound mix is all over the place; the voice over is sometimes so low compared to the music, that you cannot understand the words. My suspicion is that this show was originally mixed for TVs with surround speakers, and when converted to plain stereo for uploading to RUclips, the surround channels were given the same volume as the center channel, and that changed all the levels.
Great video of the 747-400 highlighting the complexity of the Queen of the Skies. Waaaaaaaay too loud background music drowns out the narration and conversation to the point of being inaudible. Hint to the producers.
And the 747 of Qantas is almost Retired, Im gonna Miss It
So Much
SkidMo See
Great doc however, when the back ground music is playing the narrators voice becomes obscured & I was listening to it thru my wifi into my hifi @ high volumes. Perhaps headphones may have helped.
ooooOOOOOOOOooooOOOOO a FLIGHTDECK FOR A HOME SIMULATOR.... MY JEANS JUST GOT TIGHT.
THANK YOU
Music is WAY too loud. We can barely hear the speaker. It’s a shame someone put together a one-hour video demanding so much work, but that I did not make it to the 4-minute mark. And aviation is my favourite subject.
Come on Spark. This video has been up for almost 2 years; and no-one can repost a properly audio edited version. Where are the standards and respect for audience??
I love the royalty free buzzfeed unsolved music
What purpose does the LOUD dramatic music serve?
The background music swamps the commentator...
There are a few times where the narration is drowned out by the music and sound effects is it happening to anyone else?
It occurs throughout the whole video, with some pauses where one can actually hear the narrator.
13:27 it’s definitely not an english tradition 😂
It’s being nice and English people are nice
Lousy production standards, The Sound Engineer & Producer need to learn that BACKGROUND Music should NOT drown out the narrator. I think this show does not need music at all. .
Great insight into how BA do their refits. I fly a lot of RC stuff and I get nervous after rebuilds :) 😂 I can imagine how they felt............
RC? Royal Canadian? Sorry, I don't know the acronym.
-Can Ameri- Radio control Roo
Honey, not just any engine, an RB211. I bet his daughter is like....WTF is that and carries on watching Peppa Pig.
747 -- This is how the USA gives the rest of the world jobs , THANKS FOR ALL THE GRATITUDE !!!
Boeing is only making cargo versions now; but according to Wiki there are still 536 flying.
That was probably it's last D check. I wouldn't be surprised if it is retired in the next month or so. :(
Congrats on the "how it flies" segment at 23:00 All pilots get the Bernouli version which is WRONG - it explains how we have so many stall, LOC, and AOA accidents
JR
Not sure if anyone from production reads this, but the score is too loud around 35:30, making the narration very difficult to understand.
They talked about safety, safety, safety a lot, but yet there's a deadline and "pressure" to meet the deadline?
The 737 Max changed the world too.
The ultimate 18 wheeler.
The Boeing 747 Jumbo jet was the biggest plane ever but in 2007 it's been replaced with the Airbus A380
Most everyone who loves aviation know this very well
Boeing really hit the mark with 747.
This looks so much of work and costs so much money to airlines if this planes have to go through check every five years
So I guess you would rather NOT have these overhauls, every six (not five) years and crash! Dumba$$!
1. It IS known as "The Queen of the Skies"
2. Who ever added the music needs to be put in a 737MAXX
3. Really hurts to see such a great object, turned to scrap
I agree with you completely.
They looked pretty surprised at the end to see it flying.
It seems like it is going to be amazing, but it has lackluster audio... which kills the whole thing... i am bummed.
Tom has definitely put his finger in a few light sockets
Well now we know where did Top Gears old sound man go...
To the people who complain about the ads, get a ad blocker or pay for RUclips red. As for the sound, understand it's too defeat RUclips's algorithm.
I'm watching this Video Now on The Boeing 747's which is Interesting to watch fa sure Awesome Video!!!!
I agree. Kept turning down the volume trying to quiet the background music. I lasted about 4 minutes.
I think the music is so that algos don't detect sounds (COPYRIGHT issus)
No, the venturi for the emergency slide keeps everything from freezing from the co2 and yes uses less co2.
In most of north america it's against the law to call yourself an engineer unless you have a professional engineers licence.
video quality needs to be worked on, set to 1080p and i’m only watching on a phone screen, but the video looks bad being able to see the pixels
Olympic sized swimming pools, the weight of (insert number) double decker London buses, the length of (insert another number) of football pitches, the weight of (another one) adult elephants etc etc etc......
If only there were some sort of numeric system to represent the values of size and weight. Something should be done.
P.S. Whoever mixed the audio for the above should consider learning about the decibel scale of ratio measurement.
That was one of the funniest things I’ve ever read.
