Ahead of taking the stage to headline the first day of the 2013 Download Festival with Slipknot, Mick Thomson shows Total Guitar his Custom signature Ibanez guitar.

I was going to buy it but I realized that he's a lot bigger than me (as I'm 5'3" and a girl) and the neck would be WAAAYYY too wide.
Stardust_456 I'd encourage you to try one first, I've several Ibbys and the neck width is very good overall,

I've tried several Ibanez guitars out but all of them were either too heavy or the neck was too uncomfortable. Right now I use a Gibson L6-S 1976 edition and a Peavy AT-200

when you wear a mask you have that thing on during interviews,concerts, and it gets hot and sweaty in the mask

I remember reading somewhere that he's a really really shy person, so I'm guessing that putting him in the spotlight for an interview could make him quite nervous, thus breathing heavily.
I can totally relate to that since I'm also quite shy and hate being put in focus like that, with the exception of going on stage to play guitar.

this looks like a great guitar. One thing though: I'm dumbfounded every time I see that an artist signature model carries a Rosewood fretboard. I mean, anyone ever played on ebony? this thing is divine and should be on any signature guitar IMO
thats y it doesnt call my attention, i know his is lacs but i wish they would at least make a prestige version of it with the ebony board.

That's a sweet rig. Utilitarian is a great description. I never really though of Ibanez as a high end guitar company, but his guitar is pretty nice. I still like his BC Rich with "HATE" on the fretboard.

This is such a trivial thing but I hate when guitars have wooden necks if the guitar is coloured
I can agree from a purely visual/aesthetics standpoint, but playing a natural/oiled/satin finish neck, is so much more comfortable than playing a glossed up painted one. Especially after you've gone 30 minutes in a set, and your hands are covered in sweat.

He’s been endorsed by quite a few guitar brands over the years. Before Ibanez he was with B.C. Rich, and after Ibanez he was with Jackson, and now he’s with ESP. I wonder what’s next, maybe Schecter or Dean.

Thats so wierd i bought the same guitar today at guitar center and just learnt its his guitar of choice, same white and everything besides the “seven” and his guitars “born on” date is MY BIRTHDAY. 9/12 1994 :D (i know his was made in 05) damn my new guitar must of been handpicked just for me i love my Ibanez :3 it sounds amazing! I also have a BC Rich Warlock, Epiphone vintage cherry sunburst SG, and a few Fenders :) this new Ibanez i think will be the one i always will be picking up now

I love how it's a Floyd rose style setup that is actually always set as a fixed bridge, with no cavity to be found in the guitar body. It makes sense given the tuning and the higher abuse on the guitar that slipknot used, cool idea

I'm mick thompson, and this is my 24 frets Custom made guitar, it's has a mahogany body and a maple neck, the flat and wide neck allows me to hit notes. People think that i'm mean giant, i might be, i might've, drinking made me forget.

This is my favourite shape - RG shred machine shape :) It's a great guitar - played one like this in Australia and a black one (MTM1) in South Africa. I prefer this one over the MTM100.
