I'm just speechless by this cover. You have to have the voice, the experience of heart, soul and pain to pull this off. As a retired police officer in the most dangerous precinct in America, I always felt sad for the voices never heard nor understood. No better sentence than "The words of the prophets are written on subway walls and tenement halls". That's real life.If you all only saw the art from the hood. Just amazing. Silent voices lost in a country of haves vs have nots.
My son was also a police officer and I was a correctional nurse between jails and prisons here in Memphis Tennessee and I agree this is the most beautiful version I've ever heard of this song which is one of the best songs in my opinion ever released and recorded and written. It's actually very painful to listen to in my state of life right now... I've lost all my siblings and a sister after 9 days of diagnosis of leukemia last month. Thank you officer you and everyone everywhere and every first responder... Yes you saw it on the streets and I saw it in from the inside, such pain and suffering in the correctional world
This one happened a couple years ago..... also, a couple years after your comment. I love the original version, 'this' version, and also the version I'm linking to. It's very powerful. ruclips.net/video/u9Dg-g7t2l4/видео.html
What a powerful cover. I always skip the ads on youtube, but when the Leftovers trailer played with this cover in the background I let it play as I google searched to find the singer. One of the most iconic songs. It's a bold move to cover such a song. To cover it in a unique way with such a light touch, showcasing such a beautiful voice with only a piano accompaniment is breathtaking.
Maryline.
Probably THE most difficult song to cover. You don't just have to sing it, you need to tell it so people listen. And I listen very carefully to your version. Superb !
je vois que bcp de monde ont recherche qui a interpréter cette version de Sound of silence B.O du téléfilm de TF1 tout aussi poignant, la musique allait très bien avec le film. BRAVO
October always gets me thinking of Simon & Garfunkel songs. Dark and brooding, yes, bring them on. This has the added bonus of some New York themes. It is a subtle protest song about the divide that is worse today than 50+ years ago when it was written. A time to pause and reflect on the unending barrage of bad news. Take a breath and try to find some common ground. "People talking without speaking People hearing without listening"
G Master I thought that to at first, but she has a cover of Black Hole Sun on there. Maybe since the show aired it will be available to purchase soon. #fingerscrossed
Hello darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone 'Neath the halo of a street lamp I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share And no one dared Disturb the sound of silence Fools, said I, you do not know Silence like a cancer grows Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you But my words, like silent raindrops fell And echoed in the wells of silence And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming And the sign said The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls And tenement halls And whispered in the sounds of silence
I just found this only tick tock or somewhere on social media and I'm in tears. This was my brother's favorite song ever and this is my exact feelings right at this second as I just lost my younger sister and now I'm the last sibling standing out of seven of us. This is so beautiful yet so painful at the same time for me to listen to
This is the deepest emotional version of Sound of Silence I've ever heard. The raw emotion brings the silence alive, making it nearly touchable. It represents the longing for silence in my own soul. Thank you for this absolutely personalised and emotional version.
As a fellow musician... I quit making music. Never officially, but i stopped recording at some point. I felt like no one wanted to hear me or cared if i stopped making music... i'm trying to start getting back into it. But you are EXTREMELY talented. If a music career isn't something you're interested in I can understand. But if you're interested in a music career, please record more songs! You have a beautiful voice and you're sure to be recognized.
You're amazing.. I heard your song on the soundtrack a french tv station used to promote a movie and I cried. I looked for this song (and you) for over an hour. TOTALLY worth it ;) But what I really wanted to say was simply thank you, thank you so much.
Sublime reprise, wonderful cover and awesome voice Nouela !
Love it! "The Graduate" was an awesome movie and this is by far the only version, next to the original, that really corresponds with the atmosphere to be developed throughout the song. Great!
I love Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel's original 1964 and 1966 versions, Nouella's version, as well as Disturbed's version of this song. The words in this song touches my soul like very few songs have done. I feel that Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel were trying to warn us about what will happen in the future with this song and Disturbed's version is telling us that it has come to pass because we did not listen to what the original version was telling us.
I was a 'ghetto' cop for 20 years. This song reminds me of those days. SO MANY voices NEVER heard. So many dead people. So many unbelievably talented people. Jennifer Lopez was a dime a dozen, beautiful girls 24/7. You could see incredible dancing on a street corner at 2AM. Baffling double dutch at 2 PM. The graffiti was AMAZING. SO MUCH WASTED TALENT. "Voices Never Heard". Lack of education and more reasons than I could ever explain. I am a White guy. I loved the place. In time, they loved me back. Treated people right. Felt the heartbeat and talent of the poorest people in the USA. I felt blessed to have a home , be middle class and help who I could. "Words of the Prophets..." Yup !!!

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence
Fools, said I, you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you
But my words, like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said
The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence
Thank you for this...💞

I've listened to this song for many years, but, I must admit, I never felt the lyrics until now.
I'm sad I can't find this on Spotify.
I love Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel's original 1964 and 1966 versions, Nouella's version, as well as Disturbed's version of this song.
