    I am a 65 yr old that started boxing for fitness 2 months ago; no sparring due to age and aversion to head injury. Plenty of shadow boxing, mitts and bag work. The 2 much younger men that I train with are pretty impressed with my progress. As a younger man I trained in traditional Japanese karate and there are a few similarities in hitting technique but the footwork and defence are completely different. Your videos have helped me immensely. You keep it simple and straight forward Fran. Thanks coach 👍🥊🇨🇦

    This video is really gold. One thing I really took from you from myBoxingCoach montly was something along the lines of.. “master the basics like a pro so you can break them like an artist” that’s pretty much how I approach a lot of things now with the fundamentals. Even when I go back to these basics I’m always learning something new. Thank you coach Fran

    My first sparing at 42 I went for a jab so did the other guy and both our heads rocked back. Never been hit before such a weird feeling. Whenever I go for a jab so does he. SLO mo was watching us both looking at the sky with a jab in each others faces.

    Coach it would be very interesting to see how you analyze a spar/bout from your corner, what do you look for both in your boxer & opponent .

    Sir, one weird question that should we do shadow boxing with loose or tight fist and why since tight fists make my wrist exhausted 🙏 and this type of practice is helpful to fight against a boxer or street boy

    do boxers weight lift or do they just hit the bag and do shadowboxing and running?

    • @lukerichardson2404
      @lukerichardson2404 2 года назад

      Depends on the boxer. I think most boxers should lift some weights if they're serious, to increase their strength and power

    • @shushuyu
      @shushuyu 2 года назад

      @@lukerichardson2404 im not against the concept of resistance training. i do bodyweight workouts and sprint training. bodyweight workouts tend to teach you how to be more aware of how your body mechanics work as a whole while weight lifting don't really do that since its often done in isolated movements. i just dont see the many weight lifting exercises complimenting the snapping motion found in punching.

      @@shushuyu Building overall strength through things like squats, deadlifts, overhead press etc will increase punching power, all things being held equal, as well as building general strength much quicker than bodyweight workouts

      @lukerichardson2404 2 года назад

      @@shushuyu I'm not saying don't do bodyweight workouts, they're good too. But lifting weights shouldn't be isolation exercises. Most should be compound
