Enough ivory to satisfy the small global demand is acually produced by the natural passing of Elephants in captivity. The total ban keeps the poachers in business. Here in America, some want to ban Mammoth Ivory. This would only drive the price of all ivory up, making it even more lucrative.

@@trollmastermike52845 Most of the makers I know will only use it if the customer provides. Even with documentation you will be harassed if you try to travel with it. Still, it remains the most prized material for grips and handles.

It's crazy to to think here in 2023 with all the advances in science, technology and understanding more of the planet and ourselves in general that humans still put value on ivory and other poached stuff

I would pay a premium for Ivor because people are banning it

If you can find something to match the feel and look of natural ivory you will be rich. Go ahead and pick some up to see and feel it for yourself.

I agree with what they are saying, but only if they can prove the ivory was poached.
What if you can prove the ivory you own has not been poached, but scavenged off an animal that died through natural causes.
My extended family possess a lot of whales teeth.
Not through poaching, but through my father who was the manager of a firm who had the contract of disposing of the whales washed up on the beach.
The carcasses would be cut up and taken to the factory where it would be processed among the other dead farm animals to produce tallow, meat and bone meal, etc.
What angers me today is these whales are just buried where ever they wash up, or dragged back out to sea to rot near the beaches, such a natural waste.
I have seen on numerous occasions whales vertibrae as door stops, nothing should be wasted just for someones sensibilities.
I hope all these confiscated items end up in museums, or somewhere similar.
Children of today need to see these things close up.
Children know a whale, elephant, hippo, is big but not how really big these animals truly are.
Please don't just incinerate these items.
