Thank you for this! I have been looking for a REAL person, sharing their REAL experience helps alot! Once I'm ready, I will be looking into applying for OMS, and this helps motivate so much.
I take my exam soon, thank you for the feedback, I hope you have your dream job! Mine is to be located in Senegal! Definitely a long shot, but your advice will definitely provide support and a bit of confidence.
This is great thank you so much! I've been teaching ESL abroad for 10 years now so I feel pretty good about the grammar section but this is helpful. I'm signing up for Mometrix today. I take the test in 2 weeks.
Huge Congrats to you!!! 🙌🏾 Be patient because QEP takes a couple of months at least. I just received notification that I’m moving to the next phase which is Oral Assessment. It’s a journey
Yes good to know! I have 1 more year left on my current contract teaching ESL in Oman. I fly back tomorrow. So timing wise with this application and interview process I'm in great shape for things to align pretty well.
Thank you Joshua! So far, crickets. It’s a long process that can take months, if not more than a year. Don’t quit your day job while you’re applying; don’t apply while you’re unemployed; and most importantly, don’t give up. 🙌🏾
Is the Foreign Officer Test's job knowledge the same as the job knowledge on the OMST? What about English Expression, Situational Judgement, and policy?
Great Video! I noticed you didn't mention anything about Job Knowledge? I've enrolled in Mometrix like you did but don't know if it's worth spending time studying if I'm not going for FSOT.
Good point! And you’re right that job knowledge is a section in this exam; however, the situational judgement and grammatical errors questions kind of fall under the umbrella of job knowledge for OMST, if that makes sense. As for FSOT & Mometrix, I’d say it’s worth it unless you know of a better resource or heard of one.
@@salemtrooperthe FSOT Test Prep Course, it costs $60. The OMST is not as hard as the FSOT, so I used this test prep to have a general idea on what the actual test looks like.

My pleasure! To answer your question, it wasn’t difficult, it’s just time-consuming. It’s best to have your ducks in a row before you start the app: such as your resume and essay narratives. The system timed out on me while I was in the middle of writing an essay and I lost everything I typed into the system. So, that’s really the only difficult thing.
Thanks so much for this video! I took your advice and subscribed to Mometrix. I really liked how their situational quiz asked for the best option then the least. I took (and passed!!) the exam today and felt well prepared!
Don't be nervous. The test was honestly not that difficult. Its a lot of common sense questions. However, I suggest you do the practice tests available on Mometrix to familiarize yourself with the kinds of questions that are asked on the test. Do this, and you'll be fine.
@@KatieMcManus I honestly can’t remember the name of the tests, but the subjects were things related to Situational Judgment, grammar, English, word definitions, etc.
