    Full disclosure, since I get asked this all the time. 99% of what you see on my channel is filmed by hand. Even on long flights like this, I don’t typically use any type of mount to ensure the best possible final production. However, I did use a mount for the cruise portion of this flight. This flight was also my hotel for the night and I had a full day of flying once I landed in Amsterdam, so I had to get some sleep or I’d be exhausted the next day. I have yet to master holding the camera while sleeping 😂. So that makes this flight one of the rare exceptions where I did use a mount; at least for some of it. Enjoy!

      the fact you film by hand on 6 hour flights is crazy, I can barely film landings for like 30 minutes so I couldn't imagine 6 hours straight of hand filming

      With this flight being only 1/4th to 1/3rd full, this may be the best one for that, that I've ever posted. There really isn't much background noise besides the drone of the engines.

    Hey Skylite. Thanks so much for this video! My fav 777! Yes! I really enjoyed it. I gotta tell you, you always know how to keep me entertained, and right from the get-go! Not only did you finally travel on a 777 with the GE90s (albeit the 92s, not the 155Bs, but, who's complaining!), but you guys weren't even through the door to the aircraft yet, and you had a FA standing right there at the door with a bottle of alcohol. I'm glad somebody finally takes their job seriously! Hey, you think they might start serving booze ON the jetway pretty soon? And if that weren't enough, I'm watching you walk down the aisle, and I noticed every seat came equipped with an incontinence diaper on it. What the heck. Were you flying an AARP charter flight? Wow, finally an airline recognizes that, well, if we can't line up near the bathrooms anymore to wait our turn, then they need to provide for the inevitable eventualities! BTW, thanks for the great view of the flaperon also! Anyway, be well my friend. Stay safe. Talk to you soon.

    WOWOWOWOW!!!! He's off on the next leg of his Amazing Race!! I thought that was Phil Keoghan I saw there handing you your next clue at the gate. Be sure to read the clue very carefully. One of the teams on last week's episode messed up spectacularly because they read their clue wrong. To my amazement, they weren't eliminated.
    I remember one season, there was this male gay couple team who came in first in one of the legs. When Phil told them the good news and also of the prize they won, they were understandably thrilled to pieces. One of the men grabbed Phill and gave him a big kiss on the cheek. It was hilarious to watch!
    From SEA, it's 9 hours to AMS , so you lose 9 hours in 9 hours! Back in Sept. 2000, I did the reverse coming back home from a 3 week trip to Turkey, and the headwinds cooperated, mild on this flight and we gained 9 hours in 9 hours. We took off from AMS and landed at SEA at exactly the same time - 3:10PM! Time quite literally stood still for me.
    And we also went up to the 72md parallel where we went over northern Baffin Island and was able to see the tidewater glaciers. We were more north than Barrow, AK and more north than all of AK for that matter.
    Well, anyhow, just 2 more days for you. They're actually pre-empting General Hospital so ABC can air the eclipse live. We're only going to get 20-30 percent coverage here, and the forecast is for overcast skies with rain and showers, so we're getting the short end of the stick.
    So... be sure to Drink The Ooze on your flight, document everything, and remember that it will be 7 years per hour while on board, so make every second count. And pray that you don't have anyone like Matt Damon on your flight. :)

    • @sla31
      @sla31  4 месяца назад +1

      They have a pretty good mix still. This was a GE90 powered one though. Off the top of my head I know at least 52 of United's 777's still have P&W power. The original United Airlines ordered 777-222's. They then inherited all of their GE90 powered 777's from Continental and they are the 777-224's.

    Imagine how much it would improve the image of the airline if they'd occasionally clean those flaps (I presume hydraulic fluid). Sorry to be nitpicky, I can't help it.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  3 месяца назад +1

      You know what's interesting? United is one of the only airlines I've actually seen cleaning the exterior of their planes. In Honolulu, a lot of their aircraft fly in during the afternoon and don't turn around to go back until that evening. They'll sit at the gates for 4 or 5 hours. And United actually contracts with a company to wash their planes. You'll see a whole crew on scissor lifts with brushes and soap, scrubbing down the whole plane. But yet, I still seem to see more United planes with residual oil left on the wings haha.

    Out of curiosity, does the 777 push you back in your seat when take-off power is applied?

    • @zachmatt3
      @zachmatt3 4 месяца назад +1

      I was wondering that, too. I've experienced it on the 747, and especially on the old DC-10s.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  4 месяца назад +1

      It definitely can. I wouldn't say it necessarily did on this flight, but with only a 1/4th load of passengers, we were probably fairly light, even for a long flight. They most likely used a de-rated power setting for departure. I've been on some 777 flights where I've been pushed back like that though.
