I have been running for nearly 40 years. Twenty five marathons, six Boston Marathons and I am not sure how many half marathons, 10K's , 5K's and 1 milers. I have looked for a good article, video etc. that explains why we do this! This video and commentary is the BEST, absolutely the BEST, I have seen. It describes what we go thru, every day, or every training block to go make it happen....and MOST people NEVER understand why we do this. I wish that everyone would watch this and appreciate what we do as runners. CONGRATULATIONS on capturing what I have always hoped someone would capture. This is EXCELLENT work!
Sexy-rudebwoygg Sexy-rudebwoygg Thanks for the comment. It's been a great running life, and great life. As one gets older and the times get slower, this running life gets more precious. Enjoy the moment!🤔
One additional thought....you are in great shape and you will kick butt at the Chicago Marathon. But regardless of your finishing time, I wish you well and come home with another finish victory! God speed, young man!!!
I have run the Berlin marathon, and then the pandemic came and I lost my track on running and a lot of other things. Thanks for this vídeo, I really needed it. See ya in Chicago 2024
Well said! Your TRAINING defines you as a runner NOT your races! Races are the celebration 🎉 and the reward for all the real true accomplishment, THAT is the real achievement!!
Very true and inspiring words. "The marathon is not a race. It's a victory lap." Love your statement! Now my friends at least know why we run every day.
I still rewatch this during every taper before a race. This video, for me, is something very special. Thank you once again. Maybe I get the chance to race next to you some day Many thanks from Sweden :)
2019 marathon was frikking cold!... and somewhat lonely (cuz who wants to go out and cheer at 3 celsius) ...cheers man!... greetings from teh running world in Mexico
We run on the days where we feel good.We run on days when we don't.We run on the days where we'd rather just sleep in.Or go out.Or just do about anything else. You captured it so well. #Motivation
Just ran the Chicago marathon yesterday and the thought of this just being the victory lap was top of mind throughout the race - especially during the hard stretches. Finished under 4 hours for my first marathon ever. Thank you so much for this video.
Truly inspiring. Kept listening and watching your video on repeat. Made me smile 😊. Makes all that running 🏃🏻♂️in shine ☀️ or rain 🌧, in dark 🌃 or light 🏙, happy 😊 or sad ☹️ all worthwhile. Thank you.
I absolutely love this video - it really captures everything about running. I always watch this video during my pre-race routine, it helps me, it helps me focus. It's always a go-to video for me. For me, the journey of training is the best part of racing - and this video captures it beautifully! Thank you.
Just stumbled across this video as I get ready for Chicago this weekend and wow, you really said it perfectly. Amazing video. Thanks for sharing this. Can't wait for the victory lap on Sunday!
How beautiful, poetic, inspiring. All captured in just a few very well put words. And gorgeous cinematography, Mike. You are my hero! Best, Nikolaus *1966. And working on sub 3:20 as we speak 😅🏃🏽.
Very motivational. Yes, there were times I didn't want to get out of bed to run or didn't feel like running, and yet after I got out there and did it, I felt a lot better.
Awesome and inspiring video! 40 years of distance running on my legs... 14 marathons, including Boston behind me and hoping many more in front of me. Dealing with an aggravating Achilles issue for 2+ years... thanks for keeping me focused! Hope you hit your goals in Chicago!!!
This deserves more views. I’ve been watching your shoe reviews for sometime now but I just discovered this one. I am a month away from my marathon and I find this truly inspirational...thank you for this.
I just watched this today....very inspiring. I lost 37 lbs last year and ran my first 13.1 miles last month. I will be embarking on my full marathon training next week. Your channel has given me really useful knowledge about running. This video reaffirms that I am not insane at all to start this journey towards 26.2 miles at age 48.
Beautiful video, Inspiring words. #Nike are you watching :) Bookmarking this for inspiration on those days I am not feeling the desire to run. I am sending you good vibes for your Sunday run and hope all goes as planned. Glad to see you quoting one of my favourite Canadians Malcolm Gladwell.
Absolutly love it! Nailed it! Was looking for this, to keep me motivates to go on these cold, rainy runs leading up to my first Marathon in Amsterdam. Btw, i think the official Berlin Marathon account on youtube copied you, in a similar video. Cheers
kofuzi The feelings show through which is what makes it epic. It was so inspirational and really stated why we run so well that I sent it to my wife (who probably could care less, LOL).
Fantastic video! In 2 weeks I'll be running my 12th marathon and at times I still ask why am I doing this? You nailed the why! It really is all about the journey and race day is the victory lap. Thank you!
Hey Mike, I raced my first full marathon on last Sunday. It was San Francisco marathon. I had a goal of sub 4, but could not make it. I finished my race at 4:10. I had multiple cramps in my legs starting at mile 14, and the last 12 miles were the continuous battles between pushing just a bit more and giving up. I had to slow down significantly to find a right pace at which I could keep running. I was so disappointed in the last few miles as it was so obvious that I would not be able to make the sub 4 goal. But, I kept reminding me of something I've learned from you. "Marathon is not a race, it's a victory lap" " I'm soaked, cold, and wet..... It was my perfect racing condition!" I know you didn't say this as the same word by word, but I guess these were messages you wanted to deliver. Yes, these were huge motivation and encouragement while I felt miserable at the almost end. And, I could finish my first marathon in one piece. And, I felt victorious. Thank you. Thank you. 고맙습니다 🙏🙏
Hype as hell. As long as you don't go out too fast I think you're going to kill it at Chicago you've had an amazing build up of very consistent 50 to 60 mile weeks. You're fit as hell man! Go give everything you have on that victory lap.
This may be your best upload yet and I am a big fan of your channel. I have been on the fence now as to whether I should run a marathon or not. You may have just given me the push I needed.
Mike, I just want to say thank you for this video. This is the true meaning of running. I'll run Chicago this year, is my second Marathon. Thanks again
Thanks for video. I got tears thinking about those long runs & aches. I am ready for my first marathon in Chicago 2018. Wish you the best PR time to all who made it to the start line.
Michael, you are a great man! Best of luck with your "victory lap" on Sunday, will be cheering you on remotely. PS. Managed to get a pair of Vaporfly's this morning. Thrilled!
I lined up outside of the Nike Store in downtown Toronto early and they let me and a few others in before opening time. Special treatment which I appreciated immensely. I'm ex-Nike myself and this reminded me again how great the brand is.
Hey Michael, I just want to say "Thank you!" This is exactly the kind of video that makes me feel even better when getting up at 6AM, strapping on my shoes and going for a rained out run at 6:30AM. I agree with every word you said. Absolutely love your video. And... I can't wait to run Chicago this year ;-).
Wish you run a beautiful race this Sunday. I’m training for my first half-marathon this December and this video is truly inspiring. I will run a marathon one day. Keep running!
The Marathon is such a special event that it has its own name! One day I’ll get there. Until then, thanks for the shoe reviews, gorgeous footage and the daily inspiration
Thanks for taking the time to put this together. It is really well done and quite inspirational. I took up running in 2013 after some heart complications. I've done many 1/2 marathons and a 30k run ... maybe this year I'll finally be able to tackle the mentally daunting full marathon!
Wow- that was truly inspirational and beautiful! I’ve never run a marathon but stuck to half’s but after watching this video(twice) makes me want to run a marathon. Your words summed up a lot of how runners feel- all the hard work, long miles, and emotion all culminates on race day. Love your line “racing is a celebration of running”- well said! I wish you the best of luck on your race. I know you’ll crush it out there.... btw, bring back the drone shots!
Amazing! Awesome I will be listening to this a lot. I ran my last marathon about 6 years ago and have stuck to shorter runs since then. I’ve decided to put the work in for another marathon in 2019 and this is extremely motivating.
Incredible vid. I favorited and bookmarked this just so I could watch this again and again until the 9th of December, where I'll be joining my 3rd marathon and aim for a new personal best. All the best on the upcoming Chicago Marathon!
Absolutely beautiful! Wow, what incredible insight, and such motivational footage to go along with it. Loved it! Easily one of my favourite videos by you. Double thumbs up on all the hard work and amazing editing too!
Nice video mate. I’m watching it on my phone before bed, and tomorrow I catch the plane to join you in Chicago. Good luck on Sunday, see you at the finish line 👍
Can't wait to run my first marathon majors, and to visit Chi Town for the first time this weekend! Great motivational video and best luck to you and all who will be running this weekend, our victory lap.
This was awesome thank you! Well said on when your dreams are pushed further away from you - can’t let it get you down just gotta keep working towards it
Such inspirational and motivating words mate! I'm be running my first marathon in 8 days and your video sums up everything that I have done up to now to prepare for race day! All the best and good luck with Chicago Marathon this weekend and go get that PB! 👊
Good luck Michael. You one of the inspiring person for me. Thanks for giving tips, motivation and keep uploading. Go and enjoy your run, try and get your personal best but don’t stress about it. It will come when it’s time. Be safe and enjoy :)
Brilliant! Thank you man! Have a great Chicago marathon! Running it too. With a crazy dream goal. With a year worth of lot work behind. This was great motivation!
Brilliant piece of work! What a video, you narrated those words fantastically! so far I have done with 10km and 21km marathon. Both without training all I had in mind was I wake I run and I cross that finish line 🏁 not matter what the time is ticking on the stop watch. I ran with muscle pull and 21km end felt like I’m gonna break my left leg. But just by crossing that finish line healed me. My next goal is to run 🏃🏻♂️ full marathon but I’ll have to train myself for that because I’m not that crazy enough to finish those 42km without training 🤪
tribrotry Austinite here, although I love my city, I wouldn’t recommend the Austin Marathon. Beautiful scenery but WAY too hilly. Houston is a much better option for a marathon imo
Great Video Kofuzi. Absolutely inspiring! Its been drizzling all week in Bangalore, however nothing stops me to getup and run every morning. Will be running of the Grey Pegs on 21st this month. Thanks for all the videos and updates you post. Keep going, Keep running!
That was simply amazing!Inspiring if not one of the most motivating and captivating videos i have seen! You need to do well for yourself and also for us who you have you in our heart for this race.As Nike says.....Just Do It!!

I have to remind myself from time to time

Thanks, my friend.

True words! Thats how real runners live their passion!
i'm glad that they resonate with other runners.
Get your PR this Sunday Mike! Your daily vlogs inspired me to do my first 5K, 10K and half this year. Thanks for the great videos!
Wow! Thanks so much for letting me be a part of your running!
Still a banger after 5 years. Thanks Mike.

This may be your best upload yet and I am a big fan of your channel. I have been on the fence now as to whether I should run a marathon or not. You may have just given me the push I needed.
it's something that everyone, if they are able, should try and do at least once.

Thanks so much!
This is my "go to" video, when I need additional motivation before running a marathon. Such superb video.
me too, although i'll admit its kind of weird to hype yourself up with your own hype video
@@kofuzi 😂😂😂
I really enjoyed the video! I expected for the music to queue at the end with, "Hey, What's going on?!" Great work crushing Chi-town on Sunday!
Thanks for watching. It was a tough call to leave off the usual end music, but I thought it would be better to end where it did for this video
Thanks for taking the time to put this together. It is really well done and quite inspirational. I took up running in 2013 after some heart complications. I've done many 1/2 marathons and a 30k run ... maybe this year I'll finally be able to tackle the mentally daunting full marathon!
thanks so much for watching! happy running!

I'm thinking it might be time to upgrade the drone. I need something with a little more range than the DJI Spark
Doing Chicago tomorrow as well! Good luck - it’ll be a blast!
Enjoy the city! Take in the crowd!
Very powerful! One of the best running motivation videos I’ve seen. Thank you.
high praise! i thank you.
Amazing! Awesome I will be listening to this a lot. I ran my last marathon about 6 years ago and have stuck to shorter runs since then. I’ve decided to put the work in for another marathon in 2019 and this is extremely motivating.
Thanks so much for watching! Happy Running!
Incredible vid. I favorited and bookmarked this just so I could watch this again and again until the 9th of December, where I'll be joining my 3rd marathon and aim for a new personal best.

i have a list of hype videos that i watch the night before a race. would it be weird to add my own video to my list?
good luck in December!
Absolutely beautiful! Wow, what incredible insight, and such motivational footage to go along with it. Loved it! Easily one of my favourite videos by you. Double thumbs up on all the hard work and amazing editing too!
thanks so much ! i appreciate that!

Well said...now I am pumped for this Sunday.
Let's go!
If I could put a race on your potential bucket list, I'd suggest the Austin Marathon usually held in February. It is a great race!!!
i just found out a friend is moving his family to Austin. a possibility.
tribrotry Austinite here, although I love my city, I wouldn’t recommend the Austin Marathon. Beautiful scenery but WAY too hilly. Houston is a much better option for a marathon imo
@@iGo0gIe I agree on the hills but that is what makes an Austin race an Austin race. Very challenging, hilly course.
Very meaningful and reflective, I would listen to this before start a race!
I may have listened to it a couple times myself. I hope that's not weird
Great Video Kofuzi. Absolutely inspiring! Its been drizzling all week in Bangalore, however nothing stops me to getup and run every morning. Will be running of the Grey Pegs on 21st this month. Thanks for all the videos and updates you post. Keep going, Keep running!
Keep getting up and getting out there!
