    I am a novice here, but my dynamic, sub, maiden ed yesterday, and floated and sunk, and floated!, several times, all on 2.4, wow its scary when it sinks the first time, and doesnt re appear for a while, once it loses signal and goes into failsafe of throttle off dive planes to up, great fun, and im hooked !!

      How was your experience with 2.4?

    • @stevemull2002
      @stevemull2002 24 дня назад

      @@rchorizon217 2.4 worked fine, as had about 2 cm of ariel poking out of the water
      using an old but trusty spektrum AR500

      @@rchorizon217 2.4 worked well, but it did have about 2cm of ariel always above water level, i also set failsafe to cut power, and full up elevator, so even if it did lose signal, it would always pop back up

    Great video as always. Regarding the Engel 212a, I would rebuild the bayonet locking tabs on the stern section from resin, acrylic, brass or whatever you like. Add a reinforcement ring inside the stern bayonet fitting (probably brass made from flat strip bent into a ring). Glue everything together then drill holes through the new tabs original ring and new reinforcement ring and use screws or rods/pins through all three layers. the reinforcement ring will spread the load out over a large area and it could still function the way it was originally made.

    On the rear portion I would glue/cast/affix some small blocks (resin, brass or plastic) and then I would 3d print a ring with recesses for the blocks for the front portion of the boat. In this way you could slide the front onto the back and rotate it to lock it together (like locking lugs on a bolt action rifle). This is not easy and may take more than one iteration (3 or 4 to get it perfect) but as solutions go it's a good one. You could do two rings, a male mating ring for the back and a front female receiving ring with the recesses, this way you could test it before gluing it in place.

    That turbine fan... wow! This turned out better than I ever imagined! I will say, I used a P-47 Thunderbolt in the AI to get the original image. Thunder-Thunderbolt just sounds silly though.

    Use flat aluminium or brass sheet to remake the 212 bayonet tags and matching ring for the front half. Trim away the old resin pieces to give a standard o-ring seal then use the brass standoffs (perhaps split the spacers if necessary) at the back of the the tech rack to secure the aluminum bayonet on the rear half, bond the other matching ring half inside the front hull with a strong 2k adhesive like JB weld or modified acrylic. Should be stronger than original.

    Excellent job, Bob and Logan. Now I see why my hobby was land vehicles like RC Tanks, no water to deal with.

    On the engel, the first step would be to disassemble the entire sub in the area of the broken part, remove it, and then machine a new part, replace and re-assemble. Probably not the solution you wanted to hear, but anything else you do probably won't work, or will sacrifice the look of the boat, my guess.

    When I converted my Neptune to lipo I had to add a lot of weight. I added one more of the large stock weights, and then placed self adhesive weights down both sides of the insides of the side panels. It took a lot. I hope you also verified/adjusted the battery cut off voltage. When I checked mine the stock setting was something stupid low like 3 volts.

    Secure a nut to the end of the tech rack. Drill a hole in the bow for a bolt to pass through. Construct a recess to catch the bolt. An o -ring under the bolt to seal.

    What is that giant intake at the front doing? I mean, where does the turbine push into? The back of that thing tapers down almost to a point, so where does everything the turbine blades grab and throw backwards....go? Where is the exhaust?

      Nope. It was perfectly fine. I really don't have an explanation for the issue. New seal is perfect, tho. I reused the old shaft.

      I have a great starter sub that is pre-built. I'll have it listed up at www.nautilusdrydocks.com in a few hours. Bear in mind.. if you don't feel you have the skills to build one, you may not have the skills to properly maintain and repair it either.
