@@user-kp6ud7ht4z Bogs and tar pits probably, something else was at play if otherwise. One search and you can find the debunks on quicksand danger by more qualified people than me to discuss it.
@@user-kp6ud7ht4z chances are those bones excavated were mainly from the lower body like feet, leg bones, or hips. Sand is denser than the human body, and by that I mean not just your bones, but also your skin, muscles, organs, and natural bodily fluids, AKA water. When all the meat rots away, the water evaporates and the ligaments on the bones disintegrate, then and only then can bones of an *upper body* get buried. Regarding that burial, it likely happened over time through repeated floods. You can't sink all the way up to your head if you're not a disembodied skeleton though, in vivo the sand will keep you encased like cement and stop around your waist or your chest if you're somehow still struggling and not exhausted. This is due to quicksand's properties as a non-newtonian fluid, when an object of low surface area applies pressure on the otherwise solid sand surface, it displaces the particles and water fills the area where pressure is applied. However, as the remaining sand is compressed down, the particles fill the space back up again and start behaving like a solid, which is how you get stuck. If you've ever been swimming at the beach then the sand under your feet in the water is hard, and it's like that in quicksand too but there's a layer of sand still suspended in the water around your legs. If you know what to do, you'd gradually wiggle out and either float on your back or bear crawl, in both cases increasing your surface area. If you don't know what you're doing then you'll die not from going under, but from exposure to the elements, landslides, flash floods, predators, or dehydration. Your upper body will still be visible and you will see the land around you before you die. Regarding this video: this kid while his form isn't perfect is still crawling out of the sand how you're supposed to. Chances are he was never going to get stuck and the guy recording would never have uploaded this if he knew this kid was in serious danger. Ultimately quicksand is actually very slow and is most dangerous if you freak out or you know another flood is coming. Tough kid! Good job! Lol
I thought quicksand was going to be way more prevalent in my life when I was in elementary
Same here, was my worst fear
It was for this kid lol. The Mississippi Delta has a bit of it and i believe some parts of Louisiana has it
Mee too
Why have I seen this comment at least 4 times in every quicksand video? Just try to be original
@@lukealadeen7836anyway quicksands are not that dangerous like we thought. It's impossible to get deeper than your waist, they can be letal though if you get trapped alone cause you could die of dehydration and/or exhaustion cause it's still difficult to get out, you can see the kiddo here is exhausted in the end.

If you find yourself inside a quick sand, don’t try to stand up, just crawl.
Or lie down 💀
@@shamirk6095 💀
Until your arms go through it and you suffocate
@Cooking with Pauly impossible to suffocate in quicksand. Your lungs physically are incapable of going under. Meaning ur head and for the most part ur entire upper body will be above it
@@LetHimCook_Entertainment 👍😅
“Legend has it he’s still trying to crawl out of the legitimate quick sand”

This is like watching Beavis and Butt-Head. "Haha, you're stuck in quicksand. You're an idiot." Shut up, Butt-Head, this is hard. "Haha, you said hard. Haha, you're going to sink and die all hard."
Did anyone notice the dog is also stuck in it.
When I was younger I really thought quicksand was a thing I would have to watch out for on a regular basis.
Lmao
Me too
Your not alone
Yeah it's not only much rarer than the movies make you believe, it's also alot more boring haha
I think we all did! Too many old Tarzan movies when I was growing up in the late ‘60’s, early 70’s
I was caught in quicksand one time, it’s not like how they portray it in movies and all but dude it’s a pain in the cock to get out of
I thought you have to move slower to get out?
@@sunnysmom1785 I tell people do a medium pace. Mainly so you don’t go so fast that you tire yourself out, or go to slow to where you make no progress. People think it’s gonna keep sucking you under but it doesn’t. It stops around the waist area. Just don’t get caught upside down😂 I have no advice for that lol
@@MorteEtDabo187 I'd imagine you'd start suffocating pretty quickly. There's no way to recover if you fall in head first?
I can imagine it only being potentially dangerous if the quicksand was incredibly deep.

His future sons: Dad. How did you get punished when you were young?
Him: Your grandfather would throw me in quick sand and would tell me not to leave my shoes in it.
This child has obviously never watched the Neverending Story
I love how there’s just a trail of discolored quicksand lol
“Dad, Keith is in the quicksand!”
Dad: “Hold on let me grab my camera!”
If the called their kid Keith they clearly didn’t like him anyway.
If it makes yall feel better, most quick sand if only knee to waist deep, its rarely actually dangerous if you know how to deal with it
Thanks for sharing this so I can show my son an example.
The way how he says that’s crazy while recording as a child is being swallowed by the earth 😂😂
Underrated comment 😂
Ikr that's crazy surely your natural instinct would be to help the kid and not just stand with your phone recording, some people are just mental nowadays

It is quick, up until about your waist (depending on the density of the quicksand), then you just kinda get stuck there
There's different types. Here in FL we have this "mud" that's actually quicksand. It seems like jus sticky mud but it eats everything an makes tourists upset cause it steals their shoes lmao
Also no matter what this comment section says, it's not safe or fun to play in, even when it's dense. It wares you out an as you can see in the vid, the kid almost needed help because of how tired he was getting. Getting out is the true struggle.
Quick in quicksand stands for -"to quickly take you to heaven"🤣.

We never seen him get out of the quicksand. Is he ok?😮

In all fairness, if there was a patch big enough to go over his head, he could totally drown in it.
Yeah, cartoons made me think that shit could happen anywhere at any time!
Lost 4 playmates to quicksand, fickle sob that quicksand.
It's basically a misconception that you'll drown in quicksand like on television. As long as you don't panic and keep your head above the sand, you can slowly get out of it.
See: Pete Holmes stand-up comedy
