It may have been 3 years but I hope you know how much this helped me. I am still very confused but now I know more walking into the test tomorrow. i really appreciate this simple, easy to understand video! Edit: 39/40 on the test with this and a night of suf-I mean studying
9:37, step three, the reason " angle addition" you can also classify it as "the whole is equal to the sum of it's parts" based on what state you're in!
MR. Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for another excellent video/lecture on Geometry Two Column Proofs of Angles- Addition, Substitution and Transitive Property. Learning the two column proofs can also be confusing, however constant practice and memorizing theorems and definitions are very helpful.
that was extremely helpful :) thank you so much for your help. buttttt i not sure if i did this right but i was solving the second question on my own and got a different answer hence you could not automatically assume that 2 is congruent to 3 from 1 being congruent to 4 even though it may be common sense to automatically assume that it doesn’t prove that with any actual reasoning, what i did for that problem was i put all the givens then i set angle one plus angle two equal to angle three plus angle four, using the supplement theorem. then you would substitute the four out for the three making it angle one plus angle two equals angle one plus angle three, lastly you would just get rid of the ones because there congruent. and you would get the final answer of angle two is congruent to angle three :) i know there are multiple ways to solve it but i don’t think that the said problem was explained well enough just jumping from angle 1 is congruent to angle 4 then assuming that angle 2 is congruent to angle 3
Why do they make it so complicated in writing proofs? You could just literally write, 'Angle 1 is congruent to angle 3' in statements. Then "Definition of Alternate Exterior Angles" for reasons. Bam done!
In geometry I understand the proofs because we have to prove what we know is true to prove something else. In the video he proves 3 different angles congruent by using angle addition, substitution, and the transitive property. I still don't understand the difference between a postulate and a theorem and when to use each one.
Thank you for another great video. Wondering if you could use a yellow marker instead of blue, blue is hard to see against the black screen. Thank you so much for your thorough explanations.
Hi. I need your help. You mentioned in the minute 10:14 that the property is Substitution. What is the difference between Substitution and Transitive property?
transitive property is when a=b, b=c, therefore a=c so for example, AB+BC=90 a. b CD + DE=90 c. d AB+BC = CD+DE a. c this is how transitive property might work in a problem. substitution is when you are only replacing one part of the equation. AB=BC AB=CD this could be an example for substitution, atleast to my understanding (if anyone wants to correct me then pls feel free!!)
@@michelle-xu9zh thanks, I saw other videos and I thinks that I understand now. In this video is substitution because as you said, replace one part of the equation. Example: AB=90 CD=90 Then I replace 90 with the other value, and obtain: AB=CD Transitive applies between successive members of a sequence, it must also apply between any two members taken in order. For instance, AB=CD CD=EF Then AB=EF
