Ahh. This made me tear up. I miss my Crow. He finally departed in December of 2016. Was very very tough for me after having bonded with my pal for so so long. They are such incredible creatures. So loving and yet such a handful of trouble. All peaches sounds I am familiar with and remember from my pal. I am glad you rescued him and gave him a home and life. I tried to do the exact same thing but the Crow I found was injured and totally alone. I saved him and brought him back to health but he never wanted to leave me after that. He just didn't. And that was my goal, to get him back to health so he could fly back to join his family. But he didn't want to. He picked staying. He would warn me of any roaming animals like cats or dogs (though he did not know I wasn't worried about cats and dogs) so I would be alerted and safe. He did this in the early mornings from my window while I was still asleep. I would wake up to that or him playing with something and making an awful racket. In the US you are not "allowed" to have a pet Crow. I never understood that logic (I won't go into it as it is sad) and he was never a "pet". He was family. Happy belated birthday peach and I hope you upload more videos of your buddy here. They live a LONG (18 years!) time so I hope you're prepared if he wants to stay around. I am curious if Peach has flown out of your property yet? Has he met other crows? Has he begun to bring home interesting finds and gifts? I found that after a while crows were hanging around my house more and they never cawed at me and those same crows to this day are friendly and not scared of me. Not sure what my buddy said, but he said something to them and word spread as another wounded crow ended up at my back door for help. It's mind blowing to me. These amazing creatures we encounter everyday are so incredibly smart. I hope he stays safe and sound and you have a long friendship. Btw, if he does encounter other crows, keep an eye out for pocks and feather mites. Wild crows tend to be infested with them and it spreads very easy. Pocks are not easy to treat , and the feather mites you have to use some nasty spray to delice them.
Who knows what pocks are besides you & obviously wild crows live w/ mites if this is true, without a human hand using "some nasty spray" on them. Other than that what u wrote about ur rescued buddy was beautiful.
@@leybrabear I could be wrong, but maybe he's talking about chicken pocks? And without a human hand the bird would be dead, so what's wrong with suggesting how to make it more comfortable? I have suffered from skin issues all my life and I would happily suffer in pain rather than to be chronically itchy. I know that sounds nuts but it's true. So I'm with Captain, my Captain on this one. If you can treat the mites then you should. It's not an insult to the rescuer, she seems very nice and caring, it's just an observation. Even as a starving and scared baby bird he was still picking at his mites or fleas. Later videos seem to show it improving though, so she obviously does take good care for him.
They did studies with people wearing distinctive masks behaving nicely and mean towards specific crows. Crows not only recognised individual people or masked faces in the case of the study, who have harmed or helped crows but they also communicated and taught other crows to recognize these people and passed the information on to new generations of crows. Therefore I don't doubt that the injured crows in the area knew to come to you for help.
anna christine Isn’t that awesome? They’re amazing! We (humans) are so arrogant about how we are the smartest creatures on Earth. But there may just be things in this world we don’t know! Crows, elephants, dolphins, pigs, horses, dogs, border collies (I can’t put my Boston terrier in the same category as a border collie), cats, parrots, octopus, oh yeah... and those orangutans, chimps, and... damn I better stop, I could go on forever, right?! 😁😁😁. But those are just my personal favorite animals that might live a smarter life than us.
CaptainMyCaptain, thank you for sharing your experience. somehow all these shared stories should prove that when given love and care animals do return the love and affection in return. God bless you and the kindness you gave that animal. I wish the world were filled with people that were more loving and respectful of animals.
I was going through viewing video's of Crows. I also had a pet Crow, named Pete. He was a terror to everyone else except family and close neighbors. To watch Pete fly around the neighborhood, and then come and land on my arm, was simply a blessing. Thank you for the video.
I watched twice. I loved the part where you were giving him a neck massage and he didn't want you to stop and he would nip you, you would massage him....and he answered back with an, "AHHH !" It was as if he was saying that it just feels so good. I just adore watching how both of you interact with your pets and that they seem to know exactly what you are saying. I even noticed that with Sammy. If I call my cat, the only time she answers me is if she wants to eat.
Thanks for watching, Dori,, and paying attention to all these little details! Peach is a very talkative crow. He is steady talking to us, in his own language though. He knows how to imitate our cat and our coughing! When he is in his outdoor aviary, he is always demanding that at least one flock member be at his sight all the times - either one of us or Kassie! As soon as he loses us from his sight, he'd start cawing and wouldn't stop until we at least let the dog out.
Had pet crows on the farm when I was young! GREAT MEMORIES! Very Intelligent birds! Very clean, but very mischievous! Loved shiny objects and would hide them under leaves! Found my little wrenches in the gutters! Loved to watch them react to different situations!! Very affectionate and loved their neck rubbed! never split their tongue, but would mimic , "HELLO" and "HAY JOE"
I had one once too. I brought it up by hand, it was a weak and more dead than living and had been attacked by a dog that was barking and jumping around the poor little bird. So I took the bird and took care for it for months. It was always around me and showed no signs of ever leaving us. Until one day it suddenly was gone. But he returned but he was not alone, he brought several other crows. Probably to say goodbye and thanking us for what we did for all those months. He sat on my shoulder for a few minutes and the other crows looked and made a lot of noise. And then, when the first wild one took off, the others left as well, including Gerrit. He never returned. That was our purpose for bringing him up but boy how hard it was to see him go forever.
Crows are such amazing animals. Their intelligence and curiosity is astounding, considering their limited brain size. Peach seems to be one happy crow. Great work rescuing and raising him.
I've always had this feeling that under the right circumstances most so-called "wild animals" would choose to make contact with a friendly human who would take care of them. It makes you wonder about nature itself when you see so many animals willing to be friendly to humans. For example, at my job there are racoons, skunks and wandering homeless cats. They have all been friendly to me. StocktonRob
Animals have learned (for good reason) to fear humans. I wish it was a world where they lived among us and saw us as friends rather than predators. What a perfect world that would be.
He is nice . I have helped animals all my life . The last time was three kookaburra chicks after they learned to fly they would recognize me in the yard they would call out to me & I would talk to them . It is a great felling to have a connection with wild animals . Thanks for the video .
Happy Birthday to Peach 🎂 He's a star! He was so lucky to have been found by you. We love watching videos of that curious birdie and our favourite is the one with him untangling the string bundle.
Thank you SO much for sharing your experience with us! That baby bird couldn't have been found by nicer people! I have a friendship with an adult crow. Just yesterday, they brought their baby over to my balcony railing to see where all the good chicken is coming from!
Crows are very clever. They have a language. Maybe 100-200 different sounds. The crows can make tools to use as food collecting gears. Few animals can do that. They live in family groups. Often together with relatives. They can recognize different humans. I have had crows as neighbors and getting to know certain individuals.
Crows are so smart and you folks must have taken good care of him. He would have died or left you all if he wouldn’t have got the care he did. They remember faces for 2 years.
Happy birthday Peach!!!. He's the cutest and the smartest crow in the whole world. Way to go Peach!!!. Hang on there enjoying such a great life!!. You already have thousands of fans all over the world. Best and warm regards
I think you're wonderful for saving him, keeping him as your baby and watching him and helping him to grow and learn. You're an amazing soul for such kindness and compassion. 🌸🐥
Thank you for adding beauty in a cruel world. My heart is warm and glowing from your display of kindness to that helpless creature. The world needs more people like you. Peaches your one lucky bird!
What a lovely bird Peach is! Happy hatchday Peach! :-) My interest in crows and their related species is what got me directed to your channel. Thanks for sharing!
I have a pet magpie. Raised him since a fledgling in Colorado, and brought him with me to SoCal. He's now four and even though he has the run of the yard, he shows no sign of wanting to leave..
Just stumbled across your videos tonight and have been watching Peach grow up! Absolutely heartwarming to watch and Peach seems like an awesome companion and family member. Thanks so much for sharing!
awwwww....to hear that little caw when he was happy to get more pets...so gentle and sweet! I have a group of three that have just started to come around, and be unusually friendly. Every morning I get greeted and talked to, until my dog shows up, whom they dive bomb for good reason.
Yes, we often hear this quiet mumbling when we are petting him :-) Our Peach is used to our dog as they grew up together, but feeding wild crows is difficult when Kassie is around. Thanks for watching!
I just found your channel this evening and Peach is my new obsession. LOL The bond you have with him is impressive. I laughed when he stole the paper from your pocket and wouldn't give it back. And when he started pecking at the lamp cord, I automatically said "no Peach", and then you said it too. haha. New subbie. :-)
I have crow as my spirit animal and every day I hear crows, they are everywhere. I have some jewelry pieces that are made to form a crow that I wear and I love them because they are extremely smart and can figure out just about any puzzle.
The 'seeking' behavior -- deliberately requesting to be stroked/pet -- on clear display there near the end of the video is interesting. Obviously, it's not exclusively mammals that enjoy physical contact with those to whom they're socially bonded. It interests me in particular to see a tamed crow behave this way, because birds don't / aren't really able to stroke or cuddle with each other the way mammals can and do regularly. It's like something buried in the DNA itself, just waiting for the chance to be expressed. Even in the inter-species context.
Thanks for watching and for your very nice comment! Yes, Peach is emotionally very needy bird! :-) He is steady seeking for a contact with us. When he is in his outside aviary, he demands that either one of us or Kassie be at sight at all times. As soon as he loses us from sight, he starts cawing!
What an interesting observation, Cheddar, that birds don't naturally receive stroking from each other, and yet can develop a deep appreciation of how good it feels from another species. I'm glad you brought that up, because I didn't notice it on my own. :-)
He feels vulnerable alone in outside aviary. Crows are not loners, are always w/ family or w/ a larger group & their security is that always one of the family or group is the look-out sentry for possible danger.
We don't know what 'wild' crows do when not in our sight. When they are hidden away in quiet time, relaxing w/ members of their family/group that they're bonded with. Perhaps some 'groom or stroke' each to some extent. Pet parrots enjoy being stroked by their owners, why not crows? The point being that neither of these animals were designed to live their lives as a human individual's pet & their owner becomes a substitute for how they would be interacting w/ their own kind..
Oh my god! Peach is so lovely! What a wounderful bird! And yes, crows are thieves, and Peach seems to be a master-thief. But then so cuddly. He can't get enough (the sound when he begs for more: unbelievable). Marvelous Video! Thank you a lot for sharing, Kullike!
That's the way Peach is always greeting us, as well as trying to get our attention when he is hungry. When he was sitting on the pumpkin, he saw us getting his food ready on the kitchen counter and we filmed him since he was so cute dancing on that pumpkin! He is 21/2 years old now and he is still doing that chicken dance! Thanks for watching!
Crows are such beautiful, misunderstood animals. Intelligent, kind, and even beautiful. It's sad more people don't adore them as you do.
The "nom nom nom" sound Peach makes while being fed is adorable!😍

i just dont understand why anyone would dislike this family. they are great people.
Thank you for your very nice comment!
Because they have unfulfilled lives and are bitter.
Samantha West PETA lol
Don't worry Samantha. Those who dislike this family is retarded. They don't know the true feeling of humanity and love.
Because the world is a terrible place. These folks are amazing.
He is so incredibly smart. I love watching him! Thank you for posting these videos. They cheer me up!

Love watching your pets…so beautiful and happy!
Thank you so much!
Peach reminds me of my Snowy! He is also 2 years old now, he is free, has made a nest in front of my house and has his own babies!
That's very cool!
Martalicious3 You must be very jealous, I’m sorry to hear that.
Heart warming .ravens are also very intelligent.

Yes, they truly are sophisticated birds! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Peach is a bit of a cheeky thief 😂
Peach is such a cutie but somewhat of a troublemaker which gives him his cuteness. Thank you for giving him such a wonderful home full of love.
Also so enjoyed seeing Peach move and groove to the music!

Have no wild crows come to investigate when he is outside cawing his anxiety caw?

Oh my god! Peach is so lovely! What a wounderful bird! And yes, crows are thieves, and Peach seems to be a master-thief. But then so cuddly. He can't get enough (the sound when he begs for more: unbelievable). Marvelous Video! Thank you a lot for sharing, Kullike!

I had a pet crow as a kid, they are super smart and hilarious to have around. I would love to have another.
They really are amazing birds! Thanks for watching!
smarter than most humans...
Yes they sure are
So endearing...and those cute little baby crow noises he makes. Blessings to you and Rick for all that you guys do! 💛
was he dancing on that pumpkin??? that is awesome, thanks for posting this is fascinating to watch
He is so adorable. Crows are my favorite bird. I always wanted one as a pet
Peach is happy and healthy because of you🍑
We try our best for Peach.
We had a pet crow when we were kids. Such an amazing bird!
