The advantage of scooters used to be to carry a spare wheel that could be easily changed. These, though very lovely, are more motorbikes with the petrol tank moved.
I agree with second part, but I can only remember Vespa with spare wheel. Maybe I am missing something. Nowadays, well not only nowadays, but for several years now scooters became safer and more reliable 2 wheel machines then ever before in their long history. Now when I sit on 50cc or old Vespa with small tires I just don't feel safe like when I sit on bigger one like X-Max or similar scooters. Yes, I don't like their price, they cost more then car, I guess with all those improvement (ABS, heating handlebars, heating sit, bigger wheels...) price goes up... I remember my first bigger scooter was Aprilia Leonardo 250cc (new with all taxes cost me 4.000€), then Yamaha X-Max 250cc was 5.000€, today new Yamaha X-Max 300cc cost around 6500€...there are lot of improvement, plus inflation, but somehow it's hard to comprehend that much difference in the price.
@@automotiveterritory The headlight is what TMAX had in 2008, and the console around the key area looks bloated like a 1980's volvo. Overall it just looks very bloated.
I own the new Burgman and I think it looks sleek and elegant. I would like to see the lcd screen changed so that it can give road directions + a slightly bigger engine and and the under storage compartment increased to 50ltr, but it is the most comfortable scooter out there and the only one that tall people can actually use
The 3 wheeled scooter bikes are the way to go, with most manufacturers offering them. They are much more stable. And being able to stay upright when stopped, takes away any danger of them falling over. Which can happen to most experienced rider....
Love my Tricity 125 I bought in 2016 . Now have over 19800 km on her. Great cheap practical runabout. I sold my ute as couldn't justify the running costs. Tricity does this old bird and yes I looked hard at all small scoots, reliability and price sealed the deal for me.
the HONDA X ADV should be launched in India . . . it's rugged specifications is best suited for Indian conditions . . . but it has to be priced no more than €8,200 plus registration & insurance . . .

Petrol maxi-scooters are very convenient and user-friendly, but check out the cost of servicing and repairs before you buy. It can be significantly higher than a conventional motorcycle due to the extra labour time required to remove and reinstall body panels. Replacing transmission drive-belts can be particularly time consuming and expensive on some models, with surprisingly short service intervals (6000km is typical). Unless you have considerable expertise and a well equipped workshop, don’t imagine you will be doing all your own maintenance either. Many seemingly straightforward jobs can be really awkward and require special tools. I like them a lot, but do not imagine they are a cheaper alternative to conventional motorcycles.
My Burgman 400 has only ever gotten 60 mpg when I calculate at the pump. I have put on over 8000 miles, and it remains at that. Oddly, the built in dash calculator Always shows over 70 mpg. I will assume the built in mpg calculator is engineered incorrectly.

@@automotiveterritory sry i never saw your question. I don't know if it's a bad thing. It certainly generates talk. Makes the zuma more of a meme. I guess some people like the look of it. It should be a pretty good ride. But the looks are highly debatable haha. But then again, it's always had a special, utilitaristic look to it. Sometimes, in a beauty contest, the only way to stand out is to do the opposite of everyone else. I was just really expecting them to roll back the extreme looking design a bit. Yamaha Tmax. Bought brand new for 1,500,000 Yen. Sounded like a broken two-stroke being raped by a poorly maintained washing machine. Took it back and the dealer manager offered me half of what I had paid a week earlier. Now, after three years of sitting in the garage with a cover on it, started every two or three months just to run the engine, it no longer starts.
