    Try washing with a dandruff shampoo in the troubled areas (scalp only). It worked for me. Additionally, I wash my hair every 7-10 days which helps:
    - to prevent dandruff from getting trapped in your locs
    - clean hair reduces flaking
    - washing moisturize and promote growth
    Good luck on your journey!

      Thanks for the advise! I currently wash once a week but I’ll try the dandruff shampoo in my trouble areas.

    Hello love your locks. I am newly to the sister loc since November of 23. I have the same issue before my locking stage been dealing with it for 8 years now. I went tonsee a dermatologist and they said it was seborrheic dermatitis which is basically is adult form of baby cradle cap which the say it basically ezema. My hair flakes just like your scalp be semi white and my a hair is thicker 4c type of hair they gave me some shampoo for it consultant said it was fine to use. I don't use the starter shampoo it made my itchiness worse. I use Dr. Bonner tea tree shampoo and it work good. But stay encouraged it looks beautiful

      I completely understand the dandruff issue. I have to wash my locs once a week to keep it under control. I am 10 weeks locked and I am currently not having an issue with dandruff. Stick in there, it will get better!

      I am so glad this video helped! I’m 5 months locked and I still struggle with a little bit of dandruff and itchy scalp. I have to wash my hair once a week. If I even wait 10 days, the dandruff is excessive!
      Congratulations on your decision to take this journey! Take lot of pics and photos!💜

      @@lasherrielocs Hey there! I will be locked 2 months on July 15, 2023. I feel so bad because I am still at the beginning stages of my journey. I am happy to hear that you are no longer having this issue. 🤗 Did you change products or something? I am still using the Sisterlocks Starter Shampoo. I am going to my loctician today and will ask her if I can wash my hair once a week instead of every two weeks.

      @@Cici-xd3ze Hi Cici! Don't feel bad. Just hang in there. I actually still use the starter shampoo to encourage my hair to lock. I still braid and band when I wash as well.

      @@lasherrielocs Thank you so much for your encouraging words! I truly appreciate your honesty and confidence when sharing your experiences. I went to my loctician last week and she said that my scalp is detoxing. She is keeping me on the Sisterlocks Starter Shampoo and a 4-week retightening schedule. She said I could spray my scalp with a mixture of water and lemongrass or orange essential oil when the itching gets really bad between washes. I guess my hair strands are too smooth and fine. Washing my hair every week is not an option and would interfere with the locking process. I normally have some slippage because of my hair texture.

    • @lasherrielocs
      @lasherrielocs  Год назад

      No problem! We are in this together! It sounds like you have a pretty good Loctician!
      A few locs on my edges slipped up to about 9 months. I finally didn’t have any slippage after that. I have grown to love my locs more and more each month and I hope you do as well. Can’t wait to hear about how they change!

    I have had my Sisterlocks since 2017 and never had dandruff issues (before nor after); however for those with Sisterlocks who have had dandruff issues, some have recommended adding a few drops of tea tree oil to distilled water in a spray bottle to spray the scalp only and don't rinse it out; it has been working for them. Btw- your hair is beautiful and will continue to stay that way.

    I’m in my 3rd week sisterlocked and the dandruff is coming on strong. I hate it. Today I wrapped my head so no one could see these flakes. I’m getting a wash on Sunday but until then I’m hating this part. My loctician said it’s normal and will pass but ughhhh

      Hey! It took about 51 hours over 4.5 days. Within those hours were lunch and stretch breaks.
