Didn't know anyone else had a copy of this! It's one thing to have films and videos of your father but to have the whole family from that long ago is priceless. I remember being interviewed and also touring the huge remote video truck outside our house and the two-inch video tape!

Hi Ron! You know, everyone LOVED your Dad (and I'm sure your mother as well, she seems like a real sweetheart!) and all the great acting he did! Are there any color pix of your beautiful Brentwood house that's featured in this video? Would be a total treat to see them, if there are, thanks!!

Hi Ron. I had to watch this again because I LOVE that house! Did you and your brother and sisters get to divide up all the great furnishings? I know I'm being nosy, but, I'm captivated by that house LOL

I was very young when this show was broadcast so I remember very little except for those intros driving in the cars.
The first thing I am struck by is the children....all clean cut and answering questions without attitude. How times have really changed.

I'm with you kerryincolumbus.. would LOVE to see this house in person just to get the ambiance of it. With all that land, though, unfortunately I'll bet some greedy developer bought the place, tore down that gorgeous house and put up some stupid condos or apartments! Sure wish one of the kids (although, they're not kids now) of Don DeFore would post something on RUclips about growing up in this house and maybe some pix of the place back in the day, hopefully in color.

You know, if I weren't familiar with these folks, I'd have no idea that they were citizens of Hollywood. They seem rock solid, Middle American. Things have changed SO much. If people weren't, in fact, better back then, they at least made the pretense of being so. This, in itself, was a good thing.

"HERE'S HOLLYWOOD" was a daily NBC series [4:30-4:55pm(et), followed by five minutes of NBC News during the 1961-'62 season], produced on videotape by the man who created "I LOVE LUCY" {Jess Oppenheimer}, and scheduled from 1960 through '62, featured interviews with famous celebrities "on location"- sometimes tied into whatever prime-time TV series the network was promoting. In this episode, originally telecast in April 1962, Don DeFore, during his first season on 'HAZEL", is the celebrity.

Don Defore's" family seemed to be wholesome than the Nelson family. Oh my , that takes some doing! Helen O'Connell , known primarily as a big band era singer also had other talents . She was a regular on the Today show. She was an hostess for some years for the Miss Universe pageant with Bob Barker.

David - we're all still very much alive! My book about Dad and my life growing up in a celebrity family will be published July 15, 2019: "Growing up in Disneyland" - the title is both metaphor and literal, as Dad was the only person to own a concession in Disneyland with their name displayed: Don DeFore's Silver Banjo Barbecue. Stay tuned! And be sure to visit my RUclips channel as I will be uploading even more memorabilia.

I met Mr. DeFore by accident at the Illinois State Society Inaugural Gala on Jan. 19. 1989 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington, DC. We knew he was from Iowa as a boy but we did not know he had any connection to Illinois. Did he live there once or did Mrs. Defore? It was a mystery for us because we did not know he was coming or how he got there. or if he was the guest of someone from Illinois?

@@hankaustin7091 - well I wouldn't jump to conclusions as to why I had not previously responded. First, I've kept extremely busy so I don't always have time to respond to the dozens of questions I get each week. When I do, it's usually on my Don DeFore Fan Club Facebook page - I'm less familiar with other social media platforms - I am of the older generation so please understand. But just so Hank doesn't get too upset I'll share a few things that will hopefully dispel the "snooty" title thrown at me. First, I love sharing my past, in fact I have a book coming out July 15, 2019 "Growing up in Disneyland" www.growingupindisneyland.com. People will be able to read loads of personal info about me, and my Dad and Mom (who made "I'm a Little Tea Pot" famous). As far as the house my Dad built in 1947, it was sold in 1967 and has changed hands about five times with multi-million dollar upgrades along the way. Composer Trent Reznor bought it a couple years ago for more than $16 million. Since I can't post photos here, I'll post a couple more photos of the house on the Don DeFore Fan Club FB page - I may have a couple in color. I hope that dispels the "snooty" myth.
