    The older bigger berries are handplucked. The berries need to be plucked before fully ripen. Berries from each bunch are separated either manually or by using machines. Berries are dipped in hot water for 1 minute and then sundried.

    All these comments talking about the feet and I'm just sitting here astounded that they used a reed pipe cover of Kiss from a Rose by Seal as the background music lol. (btw people complaining about the feet, the vast majority of dried spices are heated before packaging to pasteurized them and remove bacteria, obviously they aren't going directly from their feet to your plate, stop being babies)

      I am more worried that there could be an adverse allergic reaction to their feet. I am worried about the well being of the workers.

    I find it funny that "kiss from a rose" is played at the beginning. Someone was like, "we need old peaceful music for tye video" and the sound guy was like "i bet he won't notice if I use kiss from a rose"

    My Piper Nigrum is 40 CM tall. The bottom 3 leaves have dropped, and for the past few months I do not see new leaves appearing there (only new growth occuring at the top). Do the leaves regrow during spring?

    Very interesting.
    And for those stating that the involvement of feet in the process is dirty clearly have no idea how almost all food was prepared and processed. There will be worse bacteria on the phone you're reading this on than the pepper once it's processed.

      Some cultures have no concept of cleanliness and hygiene. Their systems become immune from poisoning because they are used to eating like animals. I wouldn't even want to sniff food produced in such primitive and filthy environments.

      As you have seen, it grow to the vines.. just like grape vines but very different environment.

      People confuse peppers and chilies. Jalapenos, habaneros, and such like that are NOT peppers, they are chilies. The plant you see in the video is a pepper plant.
