I think the main reason people don't have as much training is because of how expensive the classes can be, especially if you want someone teaching you who knows what they're doing.
+FemaleDog Hey there! I touched on this in another comment, so I'll keep it short, but the directors, choreographers, etc. that have spoken out about this aren't necessarily talking about kids who can't afford training, they're talking about performers who are regularly auditioning at a professional, paid level who are forgoing their foundations for 'flashy tricks'. Also, once you're at that level, you really need to invest in you're training. It's definitely difficult to work into a budget, but once it gets to that point in someone's career, it's job training and needs to be a priority. Hope that clarifies what I meant! 😊💕
I'm extremely happy that this was uploaded. I'm currently working on developing my singing voice and I was kind of upset because my voice doesn't sound the way I want it to. I wanted to pull something off that my vocal cords couldn't physically handle, so I'm glad to know that my voice hasn't fully matured and that I still have PLENTY of room for improvement! Thank you so much for being such an amazing person and helping us out with all of these topics and concepts! Also, Happy Belated Birthday! I hope you enjoyed it!
I'm currently in middle school, with my elective being musical theatre. I took it last year too, plus drama. The production being done for the class this year is Shrek Jr. I originally auditioned for Fiona but I was instead cast as the wonderful role of... knight number 3! Amazing, I know. I was kinda disappointed about it, which is normal when you've been rejected for a role, but that ended when the actor playing Farquaad moved away. The girl who was originally playing the Wicked Witch was recast as Farquaad, and my theatre teacher recast me as the Wicked Witch. No audition required. I went from one line to a dozen or more just because someone moved. Still not Fiona, but it's definitely better. Let this be a lesson: just because you're cast in a small role doesn't mean you're a bad performer.
Could you make a video on how to calm down before auditions and performances? I have an upcoming audition! I'm nervous!!!! Love you, Katherine!!!! #theatrethursdayfam
JUST WANNA SAY it can be really hard for some young actors to have a lengthy amount of training in dance, singing and/or acting because they discovered their passion later in life or weren't exposed to theatre at a young age. I feel like in some cases that one's passion and skill can stem from what their parents put them in when they were younger if you see what I'm saying??? Like if someone's parents put them into soccer instead of dance or voice lessons they're obviously going to be more skilled at soccer than dance or singing and vice versa. If someone wasn't put into dancing, singing or acting when they were younger but discover that they're really in love with theatre when they're older, they obviously can't have that lengthy amount of training. ALSO it's especially difficult when money is an issue (because I really think that's something that gets ignored when considering someone's experience) Just wanted to point that out!! But yeah love you and your videos :)
+Maddy Brookall Hey Maddy! I totally agree with you!! I started training much later than some of peers & growing up, there was a sizable gap in talent for a while. It's definitely a tough subject (especially when it comes to resources & finances). I meant this more from a professional standpoint-- the directors, choreographers, etc. that have spoken out about this aren't necessarily talking about kids who started late, they're talking about performers who are regularly auditioning at a professional, paid level who are forgoing their foundations for 'flashy tricks'. Hope that clarifies!! 💕💫
I’m so happy I started dance when I was 2 years old, Ive been watching plays and shows for forever and I have a ticckets to every show at my local theater and I started theater when I was 4 years old so now I’m 12 and I’m very happy I started early
@Chewmattz Chew I'm in the same boat! I'm 16 and I've played soccer my whole life but about a year ago I fell in live with musical theater but i have no way to go about it. I wish you the best of luck!!!
Katherine Steele I started to do Theatre 5 years ago, and I am really lucky that my sister is trained in ballet. 5 years ago I couldn’t even do a pirouette, but now I’m a lot better at dancing. I’ve stopped relying on flashy tricks, and I can learn a difficult routine fairly quickly. I also got help from my choir teachers, and I’m now a better performer! I’m shooting my shot at a huge audition,(they are casting for AFTER Broadway & tours open back up don’t worry) watching your videos have helped me prep so much!! Thank you!!!
Since its Theater Thursday, I"M GOING TO SEE WICKED ON BROADWAY TONIGHT! I purposely chose it for Theater Thursday. Anyway Katherine, this video was great (like always) ILY KATHERINE!!!
OMIGOD. SO EFFIN GOOD. I met Rondi Reed who played Madame Morrible. She was so nice and asked me if I was a glinda or an elphaba, She said she could tell i was a glinda. AMAZING. Enjoy!
it was absolutely amazing! The set was AWESOME, the story line was so creative! did some stage-dooring and met Rondi Reed (madame morrible) and she was so nice! Have fun!
I’m just trying to go to summer camp, joining clubs, auditioning for talent shows, and looking around for any programs around there. Sadly, I missed one at Henrico Highscool, but I’ll find another program to do! 🤗
Maybe a tip: I learned a lot from just being in the ensemble. Last year it was my first year in this musical club thing and everyone was so good and I didn’t have a role that year but I learned so much because my fellow ensemble mates just by seeing how they did thing and I really learned from them and now a year later I have a really big roll.
i know this comment is 4 years old, but thank you so much for posting it! it really makes me feel a lot better as an 11th grader who began theatre this year i prepared so much for audition day and acted well, but my singing kinda blew 😔. so i'm pretty sure i'm getting into the ensemble. but that doesn't mean i can't play an ingenue next year as a senior! thanks again for giving me hope :D
@@CamzCritiques Now I know this is 8 months old, but your comment helped me! I just got into theatre as an 8th grader with a really small part, and I’m kind of scared about high school theater and not getting into it sooner. The optimism you had even as an 11th grader is so refreshing, when everyone around me is so talented and has been doing theatre for 2-3 years. Good luck as a senior!
@@prishavrinda2208 thanks, and i'm glad i could help! in case you're wondering, i was in the ensemble for the spring play, but got an understudy role, and the understudies did get to have one performance! it was amazing. i did Zazu from Lion King which was a ton of fun after i did two theater camps. in one i was one of the Chief Ancestors from Moana. it was surprisingly fun because even though we were mostly narrators, we got two songs and i got two solo singing parts >:D i couldn't have asked for a better role and then during the summer was another camp: Beauty And The Beast. i killed that audition ngl. my singing was the best it had ever been.... but my pitfall was only signing up for the female characters i thought were cool: Belle, Mrs Potts, and The Enchantress as my half-assed third choice. i got The Enchantress, who i assumed was a decent role, but she's totally lineless 💀 if only i signed up for, like, Cogsworth or something i definitely would have had a lot more time to shine. the males were mostly played by girls at my level anyway my advice: if you want to get the best roles possible, sign up for both your favorites and ones that seem less attractive yet are still fun. study the script and learn where every character gets to shine. when i got the Zazu understudy, i was excited to get a role at all, and was thrilled to discover how much he actually did. the opposite happened when i got The Enchantress. it took a bit to get over that disappointment but went fine
Hey guys! I have rlly good advice if ur nervous for an audition, show etc This sounds crazy! Hold ur tummy close ur eyes and take deep breaths! It sounds weird but if u do it it calms u down! I had to make a huge speech in front of 500 people I did that and I bossed it! Great video! 💖💖
My parents don't want me doing any acting because "actors don't make any money." They want me to take a job like dentistry or being a doctor because it "makes lots of money. Anyone have any advice? I've done one show before and it was one of the best times I've ever had.
I didn't start theater until recently when so decided to try out for my schools spring musical. I had gone to a ballet school and was solely a dancer - mostly ballet and some jazz since I was three. I really wanted to do something new so I auditioned for the musical but I was terrified because I knew nearly everyone else in my schools theater program was experienced in theater specifically. So I looked around on youtube and found Katherine and I'm so happy I did because every video is so helpful and calms my nerves whenever I worry i'm not doing something right. I can't tell you how many times i've watched her audition tip videos before I auditioned for that musical. Honestly without Katherine I would have chickened out and not done it, but I'm so glad I did because everyone in that cast was so kind and talented and it was so much fun and I'm super excited for our non-musical that rehearsals start for in the middle of september. This was rambly but thanks Katherine for being so sweet, helpful, and inspirational.
i started musical theatre because my mum always said u was a dramatic child so she put me in classes. i was about 8 when i started and i’ve been doing it for 5 years. each year i see an improvement that i have done but every time i say my goal is to work on confidence in my dancing. i practice anytime i get and i still feel like i look like a slop compared so some of my really good friends. i know my singing is my strongest talent through all three (singing, dancing, acting) but i just don’t think i’m good enough. it’s my dream to be in a broadway musical or even just a normal musical in general so i can show more of the world what i can do and through my journey so far i break down a lot, tears, regret, and just not feeling confident overall. but recently i decided to find some tips, go to workshops and expand my time in what i want to work on. i have many years to go and my goal is to finally get a lead in a musical.
Im an theater actor with autism and tourettes syndrome and i struggle alot because of it. But your videos help me alot with building my confidence as a actor. Thank you :)
I love this comment section so much. Every other comment section on a RUclips video is just so nasty and filled with spiteful people, but here everyone is just really nice and appreciative- unless of course everyone is using a whole other level of sarcasm, though I doubt that.
I've been having horrible anxiety about exam results today. ((GCSE)) I've been so anxious and this helped me to feel better. Your videos always make me smile. Thank you xxxxxxx 🌸🇬🇧💙😘🌼💫
I just wanted to say thank you for making all of these advice videos. I really appreciate all of the time and effort you put into them. I know for a fact that they have helped me with auditions in the past and I always find myself coming to your videos whenever I need theatre-related advice. SO THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH
As a young person with massive musical theatre ambitions, your advice really helps me out Katherine!! I absolutely love theatre Thursday, thank you so much😄
A good tip I've learned from 5 years of dancing, singing and acting on stage is if you're rehearsing and finding that it's very hard, watch a few videos of somebody else doing it and take a break. The next time you try you'll see an improvement. Just don't stress!
I'm a singer/actor about ready to finish my undergad (like 1-2 semesters left) and I really needed to hear this. I know I have my strengths as a performer but to really "make it" I've got some work to do. I don't think it's any coincidence that I just got a brochure in the mail from the local regional theatre company about their coming acting classes and workshops. Thank you for this video, this came at just the right time being at a weird transitional point in my career. Your advice is on point, I'm grateful to be part of the #theatrethursdayfam
hi katherine!! i've been watching your videos for a long time but i've never commented!! i just wanna say thank you for making these videos and consisting inspiring me!! im about to start my first year of uni as a theatre major and im so glad i decided to go down this path because it's what fulfills me the most and makes me the happiest!! im excited for all the things to come!!
aH of course you put out the perfect video right when i'm in mid crisis, you're amazing!!! thank you!!!! i got my best friend into watching your videos and everything you say is so helpful and straight forward and encouraging so thank u
This such a sweet, lovely video! I don't know why but it just kind of lifted my spirits. I just wanted to let you know that I just got a part in a show!!! It's a straight play so I'm pretty excited to work on my acting technique a bit rather than focusing on my voice and (not so great) dance skills. I've been auditioning for this theatre company for three years and I've only done two other shows with them (in the chorus) and the other times I just didn't get anything but this time I got a real part! My first ever real part! I'm playing Bertha in "the Accrington pals" and I was looking through the play highlighting my lines and I realised that I have so many more lines than I thought, I'm so excited! ALSO I start college in just over a week so YAY!
Thanks sooooo much for this video!, my parents enrolled my in drama when I was five because i was really shy and wasn't really great at delivering speeches, from then on i've loved acting and the theatre! I've always wanted to do something involving theatre or acting in my life but have always been so scared of telling others that in case they judge me! Your videos have made me realise how much I really do enjoy it and want to pursue it further so thank you so much for being an amazing inspiration to me and many others!!
Thank you for this, I went to a school musical a few months ago and WOW, it really made me want to join, I even got my friend on board with joining the drama club with me, I’m going into sophomore year and I’m been working my ass off this summer getting ready for auditions next year. Your tips really help, If it goes well, I’ll come back to this comments one day to thank you again lol.
For me I grew up with sports. I never really opened my mind into the Arts until I joined my High school choir. I love singing so much. I have gained so much confidence in myself from choir and I decided to go out for plays and I would love to try out for my schools musical. I havent been training my whole life in the arts. But i love it so much! Im extremely passionate about it. This video helped a lot! Lol
thank you so much for being our "theatre mentor"!!!! I can't even express how much your channel means to me and how much you have taught me. thank you for everything, keep doing what you're doing!!!💕💕
Yay it's Theater Thursday already! Honestly I love your videos. I'm so nervous for this audition coming up but your videos help calm me down and help me improve!
Thank you so much this helped so much! I LOVE musical theatre and really want to pursue it! I have no one in my life who know anything about musical theatre, so I really look up to you! You have help me do much, and using your tips for my audition, I just got a lead in a show and I was always ensemble before. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! In school we had to wright who me looked up to and one of the people I put was you! Your so amazing and have helped me so much, thanks!
I've recently had to leave the only two acting programs I could find a while due to unseen schedule conflicts (darn it, color guard!) but luckily one of my teachers has offered to put me in her improv class! Very excited for it and thankful for your videos!
I just want to thank you so much for making these videos! I'm a young actor who just wants to follow my passion and you really inspire me to do that. You've taught me so much and so many other people as well! Love ya 💕
This was great! Even though my main goal in life isn't to become a big theatre star and would like to act and be in musicals more for my enjoyment it's cool to see how to achieve that and your videos help a lot!
thank you for this video! i'm currently training in both acting and singing. i'm at grade 5 in theatre acting and grade 4 singing as of yet, my favourite monologues to do so far have been Shakespeare which still shocks me aha great video!
I love acting but I'm not sure if I'm good because I get really bad stage fright... I have a monologue that we're getting critiqued on it in my class on Tuesday and am terrified. I'm not sure why. I know I can do it but I get really anxious and I just don't know what to do sometimes.
Thanks so much for this video Katherine!! Definitely subscribing. I’m in drama club at my primary school and I have a lead role. I’m so glad this was uploaded because I’ve been getting very nervous. My director has told me to walk around the stage in one scene because I’m the only one on it, but I’m not sure how to do that. I’m just too nervous. Thank you so much!! This helped in tremendous amounts.
Thank you so much for making all these videos! They're really informative and have helped me learn more about the industry and how to progress in it, especially since I'm looking into colleges right now (musical theatre major), but I've only just gotten serious about it.
Thank you so much Kat! Every tip you give is always so informative and they always help me! I'll be having vocal lessons this year so I can't wait to see how that turns out :D
Thank you, you've helped me so much with understanding how things in musical theater really work and it's helped a lot since I already know what to expect in the long run. I love you so much and seriously never stop being yourself ❤❤
I feel the same way honestly! You can easily go and search up all of these concepts online and try to drill them into your head, but that doesn't compare to when you have someone explaining them to you from experience! She provides the information in a fun and exciting way that makes you understand her, and I have to be grateful for that.
I discovered that I like theatre at age of 13. Now I'm 17 and I don't know where to start to become a Theatre actor. I haven't taught of voice lessons and acting lessons. But I am a member of group of choir in our church. They always taught us to read Notes and giving us a vocal warm up every practices. I really need to know where I'm gonna start to be a theatre actor
agh i have an audition on saturday and i've been disappointed in how my voice has been sounding with the song but now I feel better! Yay #theatrethursdayfam
My tip is, if you don't get cast in a show with a theatre you love, don't stop working with them. A bunch of us at my theatre didn't get cast in a show (we were all going for the same part) and we all were cast in Christmas Carol as a pre cast. So we're all gonna do that, do the community show in the summer and try out for the next touring shoe
Thank you so much for this video, it really helped and inspired me! It's so cool that you say break a leg at the end of all of your videos. Fun fact my drama teacher was telling me that it could be used from the olden days when curtsy Boeing was a thing and your knee would bend or "break" if you were bowing over and over a did a good job. I dunno. Plus I love your shirt :-)
Hey katherine! I'm a young actor and I love your videos!!! I was wondering if you've made any videos mainly on nerves and how to work with them? it's something I really struggle with and I know all of the basics and "need to know"s for auditions and shows but it usually gets blurred or forgotten because of my nerves running a riot in my mind😖😖 I would really appreciate this!!!❤❤❤❤ ly ly ly
I don't know if you will see this, but I am 48 and just getting into Theater. I am actually starting college for it this fall. I also just auditioned for my local community theater production of Arsenic and Old Lace. I was going out for the Role of Teddy, but the casting director liked me and cast me in the much bigger role of Officer O'Hara. I am very nervous as I wasn't expecting a role with nearly this many lines or as large a part. I'm excited but also panicking. We do our first Read through Thursday and first show is Sept 22. Any advice would be appreciated.
Great video as always! Any advice for performing/auditioning with Shakespeare? I have to prepare both a comedic and a dramatic monologue of his for my first audition as a college student soon :/
Hello! I'm not Katherine either, but I am a Shakespeare enthusiast! If you go to your local library (Or even online) there are entire scrips for his plays that contain modern translations on the side. You might be able to portray these emotions better and more clearly if you understand what the character is saying. Good luck with your audition! I wish you the best!
Great video Kath! I've literally come across your channel today and god can I tell you how happy I am!! I'm about to start my GCSE drama course and I've been "training" in theatre since I was 3 so this is just like my dream "mentor" channel. As Im not say the best performer even though I try. Love you!! P.S Also did I mention you're hella pretty?
I am a young theater kid, specifically ten years old. I’ve always wanted to perform in front of a crowd and sing songs from musicals. I love singing but I SUCK at dancing, I’m self conscious about it. I don’t know how auditions work or what they even are ;^;
Sorry for the vent but I'm 14 and I genuinely do love nothing more than musical theatre. I couldn't continue drama classes because my mother didn't want to pay for lessons anymore because she wanted to save up for law school instead. So now I'm currently preparing for law and I literally have breakdowns every week knowing my life has already been prepared for me. It's too late for me to start musical theatre again and there's no way I'm going to go to school for it and I'm gonna hate my career and be sad lol. Maybe at least I'll have money to watch shows hahaha
Hey, I was wondering if you could give me some advice. I feel pretty good in acting and singing but, I can't dance. I know the basics but I don't have any real training besides some classes I took in elementary school , the problem is every dance place I've tried is pretty much for kids who have been dancing since they were two. Is it worth getting private lessons or can I learn online? Help!
Try Zumba classes on RUclips or at your local parks and Rec, try to workout and stretch as much as possible to develop strength and flexibility! Zumba really helps with picking up choreography fast.
Am I the only one who ever doubts like still wanting to do this? I absolutely LOVE theatre and want to do it for the rest of my life. But sometimes I completely dread going to rehearsals for a show. Is this just me? Do I not love this as much? Like I think I love it, and always have, but sometimes I just stop and think.. is this still what I love? Please tell me I'm not alone.
This couldn't of come at a better time, I know this will sink to the bottom but I just auditioned for our community theaters musicals and we are having "call backs" tomorrow!!!
Hi Katherine! My theatre company is doing Legally Blonde and there are only 2 guys who are doing it. There are also 2 girls who are seniors in high school, so this will be their last show. I'm split on which role I should go out for. Elle Woods is my dream role, but I know one of the seniors is going out for her. Paulette works best with my range, but the other senior is going out for her. I honestly have the best shot at Emmett (the directors cast me as guys a lot) and I can hit his notes, and the more I've been thinking about it the more I like him. Which one should I go out for? And do you know if there are any smaller roles that are good? Thank you!
I’m just really thinking about if this is what I really want, I love being on stage and practicing for a show but do I want to do it for the rest of my life? I’m still not sure…
Hey!! I kind of need some advice (if you can call it that?? idk) You mentioned needing a lot of training. Honestly, my family can't afford paying for classes. Do you have any ideas for what I could do? (btw i LOVE your channel it helps me SO MUCH!!)
Question: how important is it to know/be able to do ballet? I'm seventeen and I've never done any ballet. I have how ever been dancing jazz/modern/contemporary and am still doing it. Do you think that's enough or do I need to look into ballet more?
I just discovered this channel and am working my way through every video 😂 I do have a question for you: I'm auditioning for Sweeney Todd in a couple weeks and really want to go for Johanna, but am not confident enough in my higher register (especially when I'm nervous at auditions). How can I exercise my high notes and make them easier (and less stressful) to hit for the audition? Thank you so much-- I absolutely love your videos 💖
Hi Katherine!! My Youth Theatre group have just started to prepare for our production of Annie in February and i auditioned for the part of Annie , but another girl got it. today she told everyone that she didn't want to be Annie anymore, have you got any tips for re auditioning? Thanks!! I love your videos btw they are really helpful! :) - Caitlin , 15 years old
Do you ever think that it's too late to get into theater? I'm going into my sophomore year of high school, and I'm thinking of joining my community theater, but some of my peers are giving me a few doubts. Pretty much everyone I know who's in theater started when they were in elementary/middle school, so I don't really know how to/where to/if I should start...?
Hey Katherine, I'm auditioning for quite a big screen project, and I'm kinda scared of what my friends and family will think, maybe they'll thinkI want to be rich or something. But that's totally not the case, as I'm quite young, and I just want to do it cause I love acting and that's (maybe) the only thing I can do well. You don't need to post whole vid about it, but a bit of advice would be great. Love u Kat!
I saw my cousin’s play for Ariel and was mesmerized, I instantly wanted to be a theatre actor, but now I’m so nervous I don’t know if I’ll screw up my first day. 😢
I've recently joined my school's youth theatre! I have a first show later in June and dead nervous for it! I wanna perform on Britians Got Talent, but before I take that BIG goal I need to take little steps.
I would love to hear your opinion and/or advice when it comes to casting and the responsibilities that come with being a casting director. It is a job I am very interested in possibly pursuing this career and would love to hear more about it.
It's definitely difficult to work into a budget, but once it gets to that point in someone's career, it's job training and needs to be a priority. Hope that clarifies what I meant! 😊💕
AHHH I LOVE YOU! I knew you weren't being insensitive or anything by the way, that was just my thoughts behind why lol. Love you! XOXO
I'm extremely happy that this was uploaded. I'm currently working on developing my singing voice and I was kind of upset because my voice doesn't sound the way I want it to. Avant- Scarred Nice job.
Keira Foster you went to McNair?
All works out in the end.
Youre middle school has musical theatre, my school had it for a year and a month before shutting it down
What happened?
Could you make a video on how to calm down before auditions and performances? I have an upcoming audition! I'm nervous!!!! Love you, Katherine!!!! #theatrethursdayfam
Anjelica Schuyler Yes!!!
yes I would benefit so much from a video about this please do one!!!
Anjelica Schuyler i also have an audition soon that im extremely nervous for! break a leg!
broadwaybabe Thanks!
Anjelica Schuyler I HAVE A TWIN!

Have fun!
I know you've got a video about finding auditions, but do you have any extra advice for 12-14 year olds to find auditions?
Charlie T omg yh, how does one even go about auditions? Especially with little training?????
I’m just trying to go to summer camp, joining clubs, auditioning for talent shows, and looking around for any programs around there. Sadly, I missed one at Henrico Highscool, but I’ll find another program to do! 🤗
Aya_ 321077 and what if you’re not from America?
My age group exactly
I google open auditions every week or so and now I've got an audition for High School Musical next week so its not that hard!
Maybe a tip: I learned a lot from just being in the ensemble. Last year it was my first year in this musical club thing and everyone was so good and I didn’t have a role that year but I learned so much because my fellow ensemble mates just by seeing how they did thing and I really learned from them and now a year later I have a really big roll.
i know this comment is 4 years old, but thank you so much for posting it! it really makes me feel a lot better as an 11th grader who began theatre this year
i prepared so much for audition day and acted well, but my singing kinda blew 😔. so i'm pretty sure i'm getting into the ensemble. but that doesn't mean i can't play an ingenue next year as a senior! thanks again for giving me hope :D
@@prishavrinda2208 thanks, and i'm glad i could help!
in case you're wondering, i was in the ensemble for the spring play, but got an understudy role, and the understudies did get to have one performance! it was amazing. i did Zazu from Lion King which was a ton of fun
after i did two theater camps. in one i was one of the Chief Ancestors from Moana. it was surprisingly fun because even though we were mostly narrators, we got two songs and i got two solo singing parts >:D i couldn't have asked for a better role
and then during the summer was another camp: Beauty And The Beast. i killed that audition ngl. my singing was the best it had ever been.... but my pitfall was only signing up for the female characters i thought were cool: Belle, Mrs Potts, and The Enchantress as my half-assed third choice. i got The Enchantress, who i assumed was a decent role, but she's totally lineless 💀 if only i signed up for, like, Cogsworth or something i definitely would have had a lot more time to shine. the males were mostly played by girls at my level anyway
my advice: if you want to get the best roles possible, sign up for both your favorites and ones that seem less attractive yet are still fun. study the script and learn where every character gets to shine. when i got the Zazu understudy, i was excited to get a role at all, and was thrilled to discover how much he actually did. the opposite happened when i got The Enchantress. it took a bit to get over that disappointment but went fine
Hey guys! I have rlly good advice if ur nervous for an audition, show etc
This sounds crazy!
+αmαndα hey Amanda! Check this out: ruclips.net/video/-Mql5ioVmp4/видео.html
my dad doesn't allow me to take singing lessons or to be in theatre because he doesn't like musicals. Just because of that, nothing else. (:
Viola G. Parents like this are soo annoying! I feel so bad for you and I hope you achieve your dreams somehow 😊

When I meet the wizard... Once I prove my worth
+Jordan Doornbos omg yes!!! I'm so ridiculously happy that out comments section is so positive & sweet!! #TheatreThursdayFam 🎉💕🎭
I love your pfp :)
I've been having horrible anxiety about exam results today. ((GCSE)) I've been so anxious and this helped me to feel better. Your videos always make me smile. Thank you xxxxxxx 🌸🇬🇧💙😘🌼💫
+olivia stone sending you lots of good thoughts while you wait!! 💕😊
I just wanted to say thank you for making all of these advice videos. I really appreciate all of the time and effort you put into them. I know for a fact that they have helped me with auditions in the past and I always find myself coming to your videos whenever I need theatre-related advice.
SO THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH
KATHERINE IS OUR THEATRE MOM, really appreciate all the super helpful and informative videos!!
I swear to God your videos help me so much with acting.
+Terry Jackson 😂💕 happy to help!!

Maya Davis-Goodstein I THOUGHT THE SAME THING LOL
DEH AHHHHH I GET IT
Thank you for this, I went to a school musical a few months ago and WOW, it really made me want to join, I even got my friend on board with joining the drama club with me, I’m going into sophomore year and I’m been working my ass off this summer getting ready for auditions next year.
This is such an amazing video thanks.
+katy goodrich 💖💖
I've been taking singing lessons for 4 years and it has helped me so much, if you can take any sort of lessons you definitely should it helps so much
I've recently had to leave the only two acting programs I could find a while due to unseen schedule conflicts (darn it, color guard!) but luckily one of my teachers has offered to put me in her improv class! Very excited for it and thankful for your videos!
I'm so glad I started at an early age (5 years old) theatre is my passion and life and your videos always help thanks Kat :)
I just want to thank you so much for making these videos! I'm a young actor who just wants to follow my passion and you really inspire me to do that. You've taught me so much and so many other people as well! Love ya 💕
+Lexie Taylor lexie!! Thank YOU! 💕 love you guys!! #TheatreThursdayFam 🎉💕🎭
Thank you SO SO SO much! I had a bad experience with a show I did and you helped me to see that it wasn't my fault and that more was out there!!!
This was great! Even though my main goal in life isn't to become a big theatre star and would like to act and be in musicals more for my enjoyment it's cool to see how to achieve that and your videos help a lot!

+jonice bernard oh my goodness!! That's so exciting, break a leg you two!! 💕
Katherine Steele thanks!!
thank you for this video! i'm currently training in both acting and singing. i'm at grade 5 in theatre acting and grade 4 singing as of yet, my favourite monologues to do so far have been Shakespeare which still shocks me aha great video!
This helped in tremendous amounts.
this video was so inspiring because sometimes I get discouraged from singing and acting because I don't have a lot of experience!!
As a young actor thank you so, so much for these videos!! Your content has been so helpful, inspriring and motivational. Thank you ;)
here early from snapchat!! thanks for being such a helpful inspiration, you've def made my life better
+Maddie Riley Omg Maddie!!! You are so sweet, thank you!! Happy help ❤❤
I'll be having vocal lessons this year so I can't wait to see how that turns out :D
katherine, i just love you and your videos! you are amazing!xx
+Lucy Reidy THANK YOU LUCY!! ❤❤ happy to help!!
Hey thank you for giving some really good advice! Your advice helped me in getting a larger role in a local production of Peter Pan! Thanks so much!
You said everything I needed to hear! Thank you for the inspiration.
This was so reassuring to hear. I honestly have such low self confidence, so all of this was really useful and helpful to me!
+Pringle Lady ❤
Thank you, you've helped me so much with understanding how things in musical theater really work and it's helped a lot since I already know what to expect in the long run. I love you so much and seriously never stop being yourself ❤❤
I feel the same way honestly! You can easily go and search up all of these concepts online and try to drill them into your head, but that doesn't compare to when you have someone explaining them to you from experience! She provides the information in a fun and exciting way that makes you understand her, and I have to be grateful for that.
My play is tomorrow! Wish me luck as the actor of Jill in jack and Jill :)
@@victoriasslife thank you so much ❤️
agh i have an audition on saturday and i've been disappointed in how my voice has been sounding with the song but now I feel better! Yay #theatrethursdayfam
Thank you so much for making videos like this! They're incredibly helpful! ☺️💕
My struggle is definitely dancing the coordination part is so hard to me! Also picking up on things quickly...
I got a lil emotional on your last tip cuz of your passion awe lotsa love xx
+Morven Renfrew ❤❤❤
Hey katherine! I'm a young actor and I love your videos!!! I was wondering if you've made any videos mainly on nerves and how to work with them? it's something I really struggle with and I know all of the basics and "need to know"s for auditions and shows but it usually gets blurred or forgotten because of my nerves running a riot in my mind😖😖 I would really appreciate this!!!❤❤❤❤ ly ly ly
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH AAAGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS WILL HONESTLY HELP ME OUT SO MUCH CUZ like i literally just started doing a few shows
+SlinkySlane happy to help!!! 💕
You should do #MusicalMonday too 😂❤️ Just found this channel and I LOVE it!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️💗💗💗💗
Aww yay!! Thank you and welcome to the #TheatreThursdayFam 🎉💕🎭
I just found your channel and it's really helpful! I have an audition coming up some time next month and I can't wait!
i love every time you say "first we take over broadway and then the world"
Great video as always! Any advice for performing/auditioning with Shakespeare? I have to prepare both a comedic and a dramatic monologue of his for my first audition as a college student soon :/
angrychestnut - I'm not Katherine but you can research a modern translation so you can portray your character in the right way! 😊💕
I am a young theater kid, specifically ten years old. I’ve always wanted to perform in front of a crowd and sing songs from musicals. I love singing but I SUCK at dancing, I’m self conscious about it. I don’t know how auditions work or what they even are ;^;
Sorry for the vent but
I'm 14 and I genuinely do love nothing more than musical theatre.
Help!
You should try searching online, but if you have the money and time-private lessons are perfect and offer individuality online classes can't provide!
Try Zumba classes on RUclips or at your local parks and Rec, try to workout and stretch as much as possible to develop strength and flexibility! Zumba really helps with picking up choreography fast.
I really needed this video oh my gosh, thank you so so so much
This video helped me a lot! Because I'm trying out for Flounder on Monday. Thank You!!!
Thank you so much Katherine! I love your videos!!!
Thank you I just got my first role in musical theatre and even tho it small I’m really proud of myself :)
Thank you so much for the tips I'm only 11 and have a big stage show coming up in October this really helped thank you!
you are my queen. i love you so much. your voice and attitude inspires me everyday.
Hey!! I kind of need some advice (if you can call it that?? idk) You mentioned needing a lot of training. Honestly, my family can't afford paying for classes. Do you have any ideas for what I could do? (btw i LOVE your channel it helps me SO MUCH!!)
Sarah Conte I also want to know if that is necessary for auditioning for community theatre.
Sarah Conte Im in the same situation!
Sarah Conte I FEEL YOU OMG
Try to find resources online for free. Like singing coaches, dance stretches, acting techniques. Hope this helps. 😊
Cinnamon Bun that's actually super smart thanks!
I'M ATTENDING AMDA LA IN SIX WEEKS AND I COULDN'T BE MORE EXCITED

Hi Katherine!! My Youth Theatre group have just started to prepare for our production of Annie in February and i auditioned for the part of Annie , but another girl got it. today she told everyone that she didn't want to be Annie anymore, have you got any tips for re auditioning? Thanks!! I love your videos btw they are really helpful! :)

Thank you so much for this video :) will you ever do a video on some singing tips? :)))
This was so helpful!!! I love this and thankyou thankyou thankyouuuuu
these videos make me so happy :)
you are so helpful, thank you 💛

I would love to hear your opinion and/or advice when it comes to casting and the responsibilities that come with being a casting director. It is a job I am very interested in possibly pursuing this career and would love to hear more about it.
