Oof! Canada is always so expensive compared to else where 🙃 I really hope you enjoy it and find it useful though, I keep finding more/new ways to use it the longer I have it 😅
As someone who's been using a teleprompter for a few months now.... this is a game changer. Mine was about $180 USD off of Amazon and it's essentially cardboard on a frame AND I STILL HAVE TO USE AN IPAD. I'm going to sell whatever I have to... I'm getting one. Thanks for the awesome video!!
Appreciate you checking it out 🥰 It seems expensive at first glance but when you factor in the fact you get a built in monitor & all the additional functionality.. $300 is worth it 💕
I think you can make home made ones too with a phone and disassembled picture frames.🤔 This elgato one is defo not cheap but it's worth it as you're gaining another PC monitor & teleprompter capability...
Suprisingly They actually reached out to me...🤭 Earlier this year I was lucky enough to create a couple of videos for their Tiktok/twitter pages... And because of that, they invited me to make a YT video for the launch of this product! I got it like a day or 2 before they officially released it! 🔥
Thank you so much!! I always try and add in a little *Spice* throughout my videos haha Keeps them interesting when its mostly just a bunch of info haha
I'll absolutely be using this for my sponsorship reads, being able to hit a button on my stream deck and swap to my Ad text is really gonna make things smoother...
That's exactly what I'll be using it for too!!🔥 I'm awful at trying to remember scripts and Info so having it all Written down so I can read it + look at the camera is SO useful
IKR!! Its not something everyone will need but for those creators who present or perform scripts for videos + content it'll make a HUGE difference + the added stream chat/functionality is just a bonus 🔥
Oh it CAN support your logitech webcam.. . Its not exclusive to elgato cameras, You'd just have to use the Shroud backplate (one with the cloth) to work with the logitech webcam instead
Hi there! Great breakdown and great video, thanks. I'm thinking about getting one but worried it's a wee bit too small for my project - mostly I'll be standing 3 to 6 feet from camera and shooting long form content - think it's good at that distance or should I think about something bigger?
Yeah! You can actually! You can set the pedal buttons to do anything you need them to.. so I suppose you could have one as rewind One as play/pause and the third to skip ahead Perfect for controlling everything hands free
Did you test the Prompter with the Sony 11mm lens you recently got? I own the 11mm and thinking about getting the prompter, but it would be sad if the prompter will be visible in the shot.
Unfortunately it only allows 20mm lens (equiv) At its widest.. The 11mm Lens is 16mm Equivalent so you would see a bit of the inside sides of the prompter with it.. I think a 14mm on a crop sensor is the widest it could go. So you'd have to crop in a bit to make an 11mm work 🙃
@@ajsarsfieldThanks mate. I assume this for usage of the shroud which slides on the adapter on the lens. Maybe it would be possible to use without the shroud to bring it closer to the glass and the using the batman cape to cover up the light. What do you think?
Actually I've not tried that yet..🤔 I attach the prompter via the step up rings currently so they just slide onto my lens.. But you are right, if you could mount the camera closer via the "batman" shroud + base then you MIGHT get away with it. It is a small lens so it should fit inside the gap at the back of the prompter so that should minimise the vignetting.. This might have to be something I test soon 🤔
It should do!! I have 3 monitors too and the prompter I'm running via usb-c I think it requires a 3.0 slot but not 3.1 speeds like the facecam Pro requires So should be easier to manage bandwidth
Can you use the promter without installing the elgato software? On a highly locked down work computer - But would love to buy it if its just plug and play as a “monitor” that i can put my Powerpoint presentations on.
This seems like a fantastic solution for me specifically because of the dedicated mini-monitor. However, does anyone know how this would work with the newer GoPros? (11/12), I'm concerned that the shroud might complicate their need for cooling.
I havent used go pros in a few years... I used to stream with a Go pro hero 5 and that was fine for long streams as long as it was plugged in.. Are the new ones really bad for overheating? I know for sure you'll have to use a cropped in or linear mode with a GoPro though, as the teleprompter only supports 20mm focal length and I'm sure the newer gopros are closer to 12 or even 10mm
@@ajsarsfield Yeah was concerned about that to a degree. Not as much as because I generally circle crop for live streams. But for wide-angle scenes it'd be an issue. Thanks for your video and your thoughts on the focal length!
Can I see the actual prompter text from the laptop? If I have someone else reading from the prompter I want to be able to follow and see where they are in the script so I can adjust the speed or pause the rolling if needed.
YES to all of that.. The script is ran through Elgatos "camera Hub" software, which is where you enter the script.. Then that gets projected onto the prompter display at the same time You can control the speed in that app or via streamdeck peripherals as well as play, pause + rewind
can I connect it to my smartphone for example samsung smartphone via usb-c to mirror the text on my smartphone when I am on the go? Or can I connect a chromecast so I can mirror my smartphone remotely?
Unfortunately I don't think you can... (I'd have to test) but because of the Data/Power coming all from 1 cable I don't think a phone would be able to manage that output... Works flawlessly with Mac + Windows.. just not IOS & android...
@@ajsarsfield yeah 2 usb inputs would have been better but I have a Samsung s23 ultra which has a large battery. Maybe putting a docking station in between would be an option. Also is it possible to remove the monitor from the contraption? I think it is strange they made everything not foldable and deliver it in this huge package. Not ideal for digital nomads and the likes...
It depends on usecase tbh There are defo cheaper options out there.. Hell you could even go full DIY and build the teleprompter yourself for like $50 But the extra cost of the elgato prompter comes with a lot of convenience & time saving features compared to other methods.. So neither is "better" just depends on 1 your budget and 2 how much extra effort youre willing to put Into setting up/using products
How doesn't it support the ZV-E10?? 🤔 Or do you mean it doesn't support the kit lens? 16-50? If thats the case then you'd just need a "step-up ring" for that specific lens.. 41mm up to any of the elgato ring sizes.. The software defo needs a lot of work though... They recently did an update to camera hub so it's a little bit better but there's still improvements to be made!
Appreciate the kind words!!! 🔥 I've been mostly creating on Tiktok the last year or so but I'm really trying to push to create more long form moving forward!! 🤞
Love your channel! Would love to win one on a give away out even a gift. This company never lets us down! Just too good. I have over 35k followers on tiktok and wanted to collab with elgato to spread this tech and unbox it on my channel. Would love to collaborate :) been using their tech for years! Would love to get some help from you since you’re a growing channel!
Appreciate the kind words!! I unfortunately only have the 1 Prompter & Apparently they're now on back order until December so I doubt many people will be doing giveaways until the new year haha You're a similar size to me! i have 42k on Tiktok and that's how Elgato found me.. Just keep posting content you enjoy and if you ever talk about their products, make sure to tag them and hopefully they'll notice you eventually... Keep it up though you're doing great!
