Well done. 👍 with a shower toilet combo try putting the toilet (composting or dry-bag type / no plumbing) on sliders cutting out a side "drawer " space so you don't have to pickup or shower next to, the toilet.
Don't forget to put a vent with a small fan(s) in the cabinet space. Computer fans are a cheap option.
Make sure you put wire mesh and screens to keep insects and critters out.

Thanks for the tips! Totally agree with you on the small computer fans, we have 2 in our rig personally with the same meshing to keep the bugs out!

My favorite van life hack for clothes are vacuum storage bags. Like your packing cubes, but takes up less space.

Recirculating water for shower with 3 filters and 10 gallons of water. Good for 14 showers . Can stay in shower for 30-60 minutes if you just want a water massage.

Thanks for sharing these hacks. In my old van I built a kitchen cupboard with an integrated drain board so I'd put the washed plates, pots and pans straight into the cupboard while still wet. They would drip dry and the water was funneled back into the sink. This way I didn't need to hand dry stuff or use up precious space with a draining board and the wet items were put straight away into their storage place: ruclips.net/video/1_x7i-IlZr8/видео.html

Good idea for the cardboard mock-up!! I used painter’s tape to layout, but that’s very 2 dimensional .

Me an my hubby are about to start van life next year an we're trying to get things now before we do it so we don't have to worry about it later. Well getting stuff anyway. We're going to have a very basic set up. Would love some tips for power banks. I've got a few saved I thought about getting two 600w bluetti, like one for a small fridge or cooler the other for other items. Any advice??? And thank you in advance.

My hack (I have a houseboat not a van but same situation) is to use a ping pong ball that sits inside my pee funnel portion of my composting toilet. When you pee on top of the ball, it floats up and the urine goes down but then when everything is drained it sits back perfectly inside the funnel to act as a trap - then no urine smells can escape. Spray it down with vinegar to keep it clean and have a pack of them on hand to change them out very so often. Black ones stay looking nicer. I can't understand how people can live in a small space with the smell from their urine compartment - many of those very expensive toilets just have open holes to the urine tank, no trap.

@@VanClan On the Rondout Canal, in Kingston NY. On land this summer but hoping to set a mooring for her next year! I love the ideas I get from watching van life videos that I can use while "camping" on my very vintage houseboat. So thanks for doing what you do!

But the window make ice. Don't you get ice all over the van. ?
One time I was as I finished removing the ice from the window on passenger side. Than I removed ice off window on driver side. I had no heat in van. My dash board was all full of snow every time I removed the ice off the window. If I had a van full of window it would be no privacy and it would be cold inside the van.

Gym not good for south America. Plus a great deal of gasoline or fuel to drive 3-6 hrs for a shower at a gym. Not good for just that. But if you like working out , hot saunas, swimming pool than gym is good.

Males pee anywhere with no pee funnel. But I have seen a man pee outside the door at 75 miles per hour. But pee was going all over van on the outside.
Than we had to spend $40 at car wash
