This brings back so many memories I lived in Memphis during all of this and the music was amazing, I loved Luther talking about Shawn Lane I knew Shawn and he was a genius I got to have a couple of lessons from Shawn as well of course he was way over my head, Shawn knew so much about any kind of music he had a insane record collection. I traded for a double neck pedal steel guitar and let Shawn keep it for a long time and when I picked it up it was at the Dickinson compound. I wonder if Luther remembers. I met his dad once when he was working with some friends of mine I was in awe of him he was so cool. I was at so many of these shows in the 90's I can't count how many time I saw Shawn play I still have a cassette Shawn gave me of cuts off of Powers of Ten before it came out, that was the first time I heard Peace in Mississippi it was so heavy Shawn had recorded all the tracks in the studio he had set up in the little attic he had, This is the best Zack, thanks for this interview.
Seen Luther a few times. One night with Phil Lesh at the Capitol Theater being special. Inspired guitarist, you feel him. And that's special in any musician.
Thank you, Zac! incredible interview. Luther is interesting and down to earth. Appreciate his pop’s stories. I listened to “Bein’ Free” (JJW) from start to finish and loved it.
Such a cool interview. Made an album a month back at Zebra Ranch with Jimbo Mathus producing and it was really fun to immerse in the North Mississippi/Jim Dickinson vibe.
Another Great interview Zac as always. I’d still love to see Bukovac on here even though I know he has his channel. I’d love to hear more about how he learned and came up.

Luther is a cool cat. As a young Cooder fanatic, I used to see NMAS at the Biscuit Company in Vicksburg, MS all the time. Always great.
I got to see Luther with The Black Crowes at Levon's when they were recording Before the Frost. He was fantastic at that show.

Wonderful conversation. We all know someone like Luther, just not everyone is as talented, honest and soulful. As real as real gets. Thank You both!
Great interview! Cheers Zac and Luther!!
Luther is a high-energy guy. I don't think you could have completed this interview if he had coffee. LOL! Great stuff, and what a fantastic talent.

Great one Zac! I grew up in Hernando, a few yrs younger than Luther, but he was a god for us local music scene kids!

Can anyone tell me who did the painting behind Luther? It looks like T. Foster, but I can’t find them on google
Consider Threaded inserts in the neck and a touch of loctite (removable) for your Vibratone home built
The guitar looks like an SG Tele Custom Strat.
Intro is Cooder Paris Texas vibes

The young man is pretty nervous. Too strong coffee?
🤪 I was wondering if I was alone thinking that.
Mangled...?
Is he coked up?
Why is he so fidgitty?
No, he is just very engaged. Great guy!
