That muscle memory is a hell of a thing
first reply?
I think that is more of a procedural memory, something you practice over and over to perfect the skills. Muscle memory is more like a person who retains his muscles fitness after years of not training
@@JonathanMornes-w2syou're just wrong lol
@ivanmiau9280 that's what I think, not what I know. Some skills that u practice over and over are that they can be carved deeply into your brain. In some cases, the skills can be identified down into your spinal cord. It has been observed in cats who had half their brain removed yet still walk with perfection bc the skills are so ingrained in their brain
@@JonathanMornes-w2slook up muscle memory and neuromuscular connective tissue. You will be amazed just how many nervous connections muscle tissue has. More connections in your muscle across your whole body together than what's in the brain. The muscle itself remembers. You can see this even in static hold exercises, not just practicing striking combos or certain patterns of movement, the muscle itself will act elastically, ie, it holds the shape it's trained to hold, and will produce the movements and fire in a fashion that it has been trained to do. Even at that man's age, his body still knows EXACTLY how to respond to that approach. He didn't even have to think about it. That's muscle memory.

The dude made Zeus lol
We are slowly losing the last pillars of Cus' tutelage. There has never been anything like him since, never was anything like cus before and i doubt we ever see someone like him again. Truly one of a kind.
anyone who takes inspiration from cus should seek to simply master what he does and did so well. i bet you’d be a lot happier, to be able to sit on your deathbed and ponder the people you taught and essentially raised but then to have that special one that just fucking did it and became an all time great in anything ever and to see the turn that turn Tyson has taken in his crazy road of life. you never know, why not you?
God, you people all sound the same. There's always talent in every field your just stuck looking at the past dude.
@empatheticfrog2052 oh God you trolls are all the same, you know so little about a subject you actually think you know something.
@@empatheticfrog2052 You will witness things today that will never be repeated. Time has a way of doing that.

The trash talk is literally love🤞🏽❤️
Probably the person that Ali respects as a teacher of pugilism

Cus D’amato was one of the most intelligent boxing coaches there ever was, he saw little things that no one else could, absolute legend
No he wasn't. Better coaches made a lot more out of men who were far less gifted than Mike.
@@skoomaboiz5351then they should be famous shouldnt they?
@@Tigolian fame != skill, especially when it comes to something like coaches. Tyson's fame is much more from his style than it is his skill
@@morg7163 so skill also equals to fame right?

Considering it’s the man who created Mike Tyson yes he was, RIP Cus
He timed Ali's step PERFECTLY. Look at the feet.
I caught that too
You could tell that Ali was worried about Cus really punching him. 😂
Facts 💯😅
I think I heard him harden his abs even tho he was on the back step.
Cus actually punched him afterward

100% that blow would take the breath away from you for a while.
that 'old man' was Cus Damato; he adopted and trained Mike Tyson
@mexicanbot I thought he looked familiar but he is still an old man though nice quotation marks bud
@@Angel0_1994good for him!
I’ve never heard Ali sound nervous around anybody except for Cus Damato.
The shuffle is really damn cool.
That old bastard was quick for his age. What a gem D’Amato was 💐
old people can be in shape if they want to. The problem is majority of people dont want to do it

Whoever came up with the idea of getting Ali and Cus together needed a medal.. whenever I need a pick-me-up, these clips never fail. So much knowledge, talent, and charisma, plus the wholesomeness. I feel like a kid watching them!

@@The_Bronx_Bull they both are great

I had to watch this 4 or 5 times Cus was so fast and precise.
I'm not convinced the noise is a sound effect! That looked like a punch that would come with a "boom" 😂
It was an inverted punch. Very precise punch. Looks like cus trained with more than gloves. Thats a knifing fighting tactic for back handed blade jabs.
@@c-w-h well it would have been a quick knife fight with a move like that.
When Cus threw a punch I got goosebumps. Cus was waiting for him to dance so he could catch the moment to throw a punch, that was amazing.
Yeah, Cus was waiting to remind Ali why that respect is there! This is why the whole "Ali vs Tyson" in their prime, even holds water as a debate on who'd win.
The fact he instantly countered off of instinct. It wasn't hesitated. And also showed a massive weakness in a signature move. It's beautiful to see a real teacher student moment like this. Ali thought he was teaching him. But he learnt more.
He was probably watching his fights on tv and every time he sees that shuffle “come on! Don’t leave yourself open like that Mike!”
Yeah, his respect toward Cus just skyrocket again after that
Ali was older and thar wasn't a real fight
@@Greenlion_420You mean Ali?
It’s hard to imagine at this point in his career Ali had never thought of this counter
Man, iv seen this video a million times.. its still so cool to see these two legends interact
He threw that jab while protecting the counter right! Legend
Ehhh if Ali stepped in for the cross he woulda been fucked and a straight jab to the body ain’t gonna stop him from bringing the right hand down as hard as a sledge hammer when he try’s to stand back up, cause he ain’t movin from there without standing up a bit
@@notthed0d791 you are out of your depth here. The Jab to the body is to disrupt Ali’s rythm as the shuffle is just a glorified rythm step. Ali even alludes to the body Jab being an effective counter to the deceptive move
@Not the D0D I don't think you watched too many Tyson clips. This was the way Cus taught Tyson how to execute his jab to the body. when they did drop "the hammer" like you say...Tyson was already moving. you're taking it too literally to compare Ali vs Cus
@@deel1312 Tyson kept his front foot close enough to his body to use it to move without standing up and that meant he could move from the bent over position rather than over extending his front leg and having to pull it back as he stood up or after
@@joeroganstrtshots881 yeah so someone stupid enough to try it does so, he could literally just see the level change and throw a right or left depending on which side the punch would come in on, the shuffle isn’t just for show he can move quickly from it, both defensively and offensively your only hope would be to time it so that you could throw a ducking overhand as he stops the shuffle and throws his punch, he often did it just to get his opponent thinking and I imagine he was mainly paying attention to their movements rather than his own so again he could simply throw the opposite hand that the jab is coming in from
2 legends. A king and a kingmaker.
@wasntme7845 as far as draft dodgers go, I'm rolling with Ali. There was no moral high ground in Vietnam and we ended up losing anyways. The horrors that came from it are still being felt to this day in basically every soldier that went there. He was rich and already served his country by generating jobs, wealth and entertainment as well as millions to the taxbase. I don't agree with everything Ali did but he was certainly a king in the ring.
@wasntme7845 He wasn't disrespecting anything. Innocent people were sent to die to the wrong place and for the wrong reasons. Call him a coward if you like its a free country.
@wasntme7845 a pointless war is not worth fighting. Simple.
@wasntme7845 yea i think youre just racist i dont really think you know anything about the vietnam war and you just hate people
hopefully you grow up a little and not be such a disappointment to your parents

When Ali says you're not as dumb as you look, that's not an insult or praise. That's your street credit going up.
