I fully agree that driving flat out gives the most enjoyment. How fast the car is, is more or less irrelevant for me, better yet, I agree that it gives more fulfilment when doing it in a car that requires effort and skill to keep up to speed.
These early air-cooled Porsches, particularly the four-cylinder ones like the 356 and 912 with less weight in the back, are some of the greatest driver's cars ever made.
It was a bad orange respray when we got it, we did a full repaint to red. For the engine rebuild, it went to 1750cc and we added an external oil cooler. We are in the Boston area, so we replaced the rusty inner and outer rockers and front suspension piece with new stock pieces.
this months Panorama magazine has an expose on values of these 912’s. 📈 …I think people who want to enter the aircool experience at a lower price point are buying these up and building them up. Many 4cyl engine upgrades while keeping it 4cyl now available and improvements in braking and suspension… Waiting to get work done on them is getting longer. Bravo to your wrenching skills!
Interesting. Owning a few of these cars I can say that the 912 is the best bang for buck by far. Even these haven't been cheap for some time, but I'd be surprise if they didn't make some ground on the 911s in terms of value.
Fantastic! That is what I call livin’ the life - an air-cooled Porsche on a beautiful day on a ribbon of twisty road! Love seeing the driver workin’ the controls and also really fun to watch this little patina’d sweety hustle by in the exterior scenes. Thanks!
cheers man enjoyed that clip you look like you were in a happy place right there , looking forward to getting my baby out in 8 weeks time for summer season here in Ireland One life live it
You clearly have the right attitude. The old line about driving a slow car fast is true. Heal and toe, find the peak power while you are in the correct gear and you can make it hustle. It is a proper car in the truest sense because you have to work the brakes and steering much more so than in a modern car. It's all about feedback from the tires, the steering wheel, the brakes, and the seat of your pants. Do not give up.
Really enjoyed the driving footage! That's what it's all about at the end of the day (in my opinion, anyway), so great to see some driving and hear your impressions.
Dude, sweet car. Do yourself a favor and get a Bursch header/extractor exhaust the sound is sweet and a noticeable power increase and 10 or so pound reduction on the right area. You won’t regret it.
been watching you work on this while my 77 911s has been getting an engine and trans rebuild. Awesome to see you enjoying this thing, you did a great job on it.
I kick myself for not buying one of these 15 years ago for 6500 or 8500 when l came across it,here in Montana. It was red and ran, now l would have to sell my Boxster and Barracuda and some Guitars to get basically get that same car.Enjoy those mountain twistys!
That was really cool Michael, nice far out video shots, and nice backround music too! Stick with it man, that 4 banger is nostalgic piece of machine! Next time.....l think you should take a friend along🤔, just in case!😊👍
Mike, what a great vid! I can almost feel what it's like driving this thing along, I can't imagine it being too different than my SC but a whole new experience at the same time, hope you are doing well, my friend!
They say it’s much more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow. Case in point here.
Fast car fast..now thats top tier :)
I like driving my fast cars slowly. Just knowing it can do it is enough. And you don't lose your licence.
@@quietenglishman4179 that may the first time I’ve ever heard someone say that

My 912 coupe is certainly not slow 😎

We shouldn’t be telling anyone..oh well it’s
too late anyway lol
Slow in-fast out is a delicate dance in a swb car...but so awesome when you get it right.
I have only gotten it to oversteer once in a canyon. I want to track it and see what it does.
My thought exactly.
Seems like such a fun car to drive. Someday.
It’s really fun. I hope you get one 🤝
My dad got a '69 912 project car when I was in high school. It was a great project and fun car. Your videos bring back some nice memories, thanks.
That’s cool. What color?

Happy for you! Hope you and your offspring are able to ride it forever
Thank you!
I drive a '68 912 myself. I used to drive a '72 2.4S but prefer the balance and steering feel of the 912

Might be worth looking into a hot start relay. I put one on my bug and it has helped tremendously. Simple to hook up too.
that could solve my problem. Car starts up easy when its cold
@michaelgideon6422 I hope it works out! Be wary, the relay I received was wired improperly when I received it. It's worth double checking their work.

On the right road, it's tough to beat. Thanks for watching!

This is what driving is all about for me
Glad you stuck with it. It’s the journey bro.
It’s perfect

@0:47 The facial features said it all, you love that car. You are a true car enthusiast. Be safe out there.
I do. Thanks and drive safe as well :)
Fantastic video- thanks! Looks like a blast.

Thank you! Really appreciate that
Great road to drive by the looks of it 👍 Thanks for sharing, you are really pushing the car, love that.
love this car and clip. good job restoring it and most importantly, enjoying the car. these are the best machines ever built. nice clips...

Your content is very good. Keep it coming.
Thank you 🙏
What a drive! Please change that starter !
I love your content and the vintage Porsche. Id not like that seatbelt. That would bug the shit out of me. Id switch to a lap belt.
That was really cool Michael, nice far out video shots, and nice backround music too! Stick with it man, that 4 banger is nostalgic piece of machine! Next time.....l think you should take a friend along🤔, just in case!😊👍
THanks Nick! I've got room for a friend :)
Nice!
My seat recliner on the 912 has the same issue! Haha. Great video, always a joy to drive the 912. Ease of use and lightness is what it's all about!

Thanks man! Come out here and I'll let you drive it
@lgideon6422 Oh boy, maybe a road trip needs to be planned!
Cool video! Where and how did you mount that interior camera?
What road were you driving? It looks like the one I drove in the hills of Escondido near The Welk.
light car with a clutch you could always bump start
Thats true
What gasoline are you using? I was thinking about getting 93 octane but I’m interested in what you run?
Is that hwy 33?
Who rebuilt your engine?
Is this the 33?
Yes it is
