If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
    How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
    Never quit,
    Alex
    FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

Its true the more you seek happiness the more you reaffirm that happiness is somewhere outside yourself. All the happiness you need is in the present moment . It is your god given right to be happy.
So the goal is not to be happy, you're already happy, the goal is to house your instrument to build systems in the world and create alongside your fellow humans.

Love the AA stance. My whole family is alcoholics and I partyed way too much and went in that direction during and a little after high school and I just separated myself from those friends and stopped drinking for a few months because it made me feel like shit and dragged my workouts down and I understood how to break habits that weren't serving me. And then after that I just drank socially whenever I went out on the weekend and my tolerance was lower and I drank way less and it's actually much more enjoyable this way.
But I never felt like I was an alcoholic. Never wrapped my mind around this identity of alcoholic. And I do have a slightly addictive/ obsessive personality.
Also quit nicotine in a similar way. I just started only smoking when I'd get irritable until that became less frequent - non-existent. Then I'd just stop.
The only difference is alcohol was boredom driven and nicotine is actually very chemically addictive so I needed to ween and approach it differently. Alcohol I just quit one day and busied myself with better things.
But I never identified as some kind of addict or thought I needed these things to function.
The only thing I've not been able to get away from is smoking weed for sleep. I just have random nights where I can't sleep and idk why and it fucks up all my productivity and ability to focus even more than when I used to party too much. I just don't like pharmaceuticals or zzzquil. They have side effects and lose effectiveness in a couple weeks

I think the disconnect came from what you two derive as happiness rather than the concept itself. One Alex is happy to work while the other is working to be happy. Hermozi finds his dopamine while building and achieving while film Alex finds it spending time with his family. He might enjoy the film process and editing and what not but he is happier to spend time with his family.

“If I die, in a thousand years, I know nothing I do is going to matter anyways.”
Alex set up that expectation for himself. I understand the purpose of that mindset. It is based on an entirely self-serving worldly view. You cannot know if seeds you plant today won't have an effect in 1,000 years and will very much matter. It does change the game when you develop faith in Jesus Christ and understand that you are putting your imprint, even helping to build upon on an eternal foundation yet to be known or understood in our reality. You don't have to comprehend it fully to walk in it. Eternity, being sure, yet details unknown, super charges your seed planting and increases your purpose exponentially.

Yes enjoy the journey and keep a positive loving mindset.. however we must not stop fighting against the cruelty of this world with that mindset.. poverty should not and DOES not need to exist. It suits the purposes and journey of others. It is time to fight back and guarantee a peaceful loving journey for ALL. As long as some have billions they could never spend and most have not enough to eat or pay rent they are robbing our journeys of their full potential.

    Alex says
“Life is meaningless there is no point to any of it. And which I agree with them”
Gram and that other Guy completely missed what he laid out. Humanity has made up all this chaos in our minds. But threw this chaos we have learned. Take what your have learned and apply it to succeed the next. And wealth will find you. Experiences matter greatly , clothing & cars do not. Our time is coming to end, day by day

Once upon a time there was a Chinese farmer whose horse ran away. That evening, all of his neighbors came around to commiserate. They said, “We are so sorry to hear your horse has run away. This is most unfortunate.” The farmer said, “Maybe.”
The next day the horse came back bringing seven wild horses with it, and in the evening everybody came back and said, “Oh, isn’t that lucky. What a great turn of events. You now have eight horses!” The farmer again said, “Maybe.”
The following day his son tried to break one of the horses, and while riding it, he was thrown and broke his leg. The neighbors then said, “Oh dear, that’s too bad,” and the farmer responded, “Maybe.”
The next day the conscription officers came around to conscript people into the army, and they rejected his son because he had a broken leg. Again all the neighbors came around and said, “Isn’t that great!” Again, he said, “Maybe.”
The whole process of nature is an integrated process of immense complexity, and it’s really impossible to tell whether anything that happens in it is good or bad - because you never know what will be the consequence of the misfortune; or, you never know what will be the consequences of good fortune.
    - Alan Watts

In some way i feels like what Alex describes is basically nihilism.
    And i get that.
Being free of any judgements and aspirations is really giving peace and freedom.
But. If nothing matter, then, well, it kinda sucks too.
I think we need a better solution.
Probably a mix of nihilism with aspirations.
(Talking from experience, coz i have actually went through the same thinking process as Alex , and it helped me transform my self from a young obnoxious guy ,.to a more relax one.
Yet i feels like it is not the full solution.)

What is it? What is it not? How do you do that now? : ) What do you need to stop pretending to not know, to know this?
