I think I admire the willpower of the guy in the video the most. Only 3 pedals? Did he only start acquiring pedals 2 hours previous?
Lmao
Lol, looks like he bought a pedal board just for his three pedals. This guy doesn't know how to pedal....
“I know it’s just a demo video, but I need a full pedal board to impress gear snobs on the internet!!”
😂😂😂
Absolutely awesome sounds, i want Iridium in my Pedalboard 🎶🎶🎶.
Greetings from Argentina
We want Iridium on your pedalboard too! :)
Dear Strymon: do 1 pedal per amp, the whole chip dedicated to one amp, you'll be unstoppable. Gotta catch em all!
What a great idea! After having bought a Tone Master Deluxe Reverb, I got rid of all of my other digital amps and bought another Tone Master. It’s that good. I wish more manufacturers embrace this design concept!
@@cosmiciron they will. Strymon is leading the way in creative digital hardware.
Why?
very cool concept!
Wowww definitely in our wishlist! Price is really affordable too. I just need at the most a boost pedal for solos to pair with this. Touring rig done!
I would LOVE to see a Strymon for Mesa amps. Not everyone thinks Marshall are the best sounding amps :)
only a hearted comment? how about a response :)
Bobby Walker 🙄
They aren’t. Fenders are.
Its time to expand this concept in Timeline form factor housing, Strymon.
Iridium V2: keep the simple format & excellent headroom for pedals. add storage for loaded amp/ir & ability to use different amps on L/R channels. add stereo fx loop so time based fx
can be added post preamp pre power. add option of xlr. 🙏
Can’t you just put time based after the iridium?
Very cool!
@strymon, this would be great if it was versatile enough for any situation with connectivity having both xlr balanced and unbalanced out in small form factor.
you can use a DI box to do that along with the iridum
not sure if I should put big sky before or after Iridium for tracking... also got a Keeley 30ms with the TRS cable for stereo, but having trouble keeping el cap, big sky, and iridium all stereo. looks like time-based fx will have to be mono if I use the Keeley 30ms double tracker. confused :/
anybody wanna help? pls chime in!
JHS Mod tube screamer with boost always on before 👍🏽👍🏽🎸. Green pedal over drive off though
Any plans for an effects loop via TRS conn? Not optimum sending distortion into delays if put at end of chain. Thanks love the sound of this!
Hi Mark, unfortunately we don't talk about what is or isn't in the works, but I will definitely pass along your feedback to the team :) Thanks!
will this work? the iridium output 2 > lehle DI box 2 outs > input 1 audio interface (left monitor) > input 2 audio interface (right monitor), will this give me a stereo effect such as ping pong delays?
2nd question : i put my iridium in my boss es 8 loop. goes like this: iridium > bigsky reverb > strymon timeline > boss es 8 out > DI box 2 outs > input 1 audio interface (left monitor) > input 2 audio interface (right monitor). OR running straight to PA.
Do you recommend using time based effects/modulation/harmonizer effects post the iridium when recording direct, for a higher fidelity tone? Would that be the analogous to adding effects processing to a miked up amp/cab signal/track when recording in a conventional fashion, or when re-amping an already recorded amp track through an effects unit? Thanks!
Hi there! You can totally run time based effects post Iridium for a cleaner sound :) it would be just as you described.
I just got the Deco, which I love, but I'm now looking for something to put in between my Katana rec out, and my interface, since I have everything running into the Katana.
If you have any questions about Iridium connecting with your set up, just let us know at support@strymon.net :)
Hey strymon,
Tone sounds stunning through my headphones, but when I plug it into my inter face to run through logic it gets really gritty, even when adjusting for high output, any ideas?
Just ordered an iridium but the wait is about 4 weeks because they're out of stock everywehre! How does recording into an interface work if you put reverbs etc. after the iridium? Do you just have to go mono?
It depends on what the reverb is. Iridium has stereo outputs, so if you have a stereo reverb, you can go into that and then stereo out to your interface. If this is a mono reverb, then you need to go mono out of the Iridium and then mono into the interface.
This is absolutely perfect. I just wish they included 1 more amp in there like a JCM800 or 5150. Then I would never need a head rush, hx stomp or any of these pedals with numerous options which requires you to be a programmer.
Yeah, definitely missing a high-gain amp. The BluGuitar Amp1 has that, though.
A Roland Jazz Chorus would be perfection.
I couldn't agree more, the plexi is awesome but sometimes you need a little extra for when you want to play heavier stuff.
Just use custom IR.
You can definitely get that tone by downloading an IR into the pedal, very easy
How to use as reamp mono/ stereo? I want to add fuzz for my dry signal..?
imma buy this asap y'all have no idea.
i was already convinced but when I heard about the headphones jack bye.
Has anybody tried how well the Iridium works with drum machines and such? Wondering if for example it would be a good fit for the CR-78-through-an-amplifier sound of something like "In the Air Tonight".
Not something we've tried, but it would probably sound very cool :)
Still no hands on sound demo? Would love to hear if I can use this on my Hammond Module for the Jon Lord tones. Cant stomach digital tubes and distortion, but since its Strymons brilliant SHARC Programming, Im willing to try one.
But lets hear it.

I am so against this too but I played a gig at church on a good setup with this in it, it sounded amazing in my IEM’s. I’m a believer now.
Sold!
I have a Roland JC-40 and currently use a Riverside as a pre amp to add some warmth to the tone. Would the Iridium be a step up in this department running into the JC-40? I guess it would potentially turn this amp into 3 new easy to dial in amps...
That would be subjective, as they're very different products (both with amazing tones within them), but it would definitely give you a different set of distinct tones to play around with!
Amps like the new Boss katana mk2 come with a Power Amp In(put) where I can plug in an effects floor unit or a tube preamp.
Thus, I can access to the Katana`s A\B power section bypassing everything before the power amp and speaker.
The question is: can I connect the Iridium in this Power Amp In instead of the effects loop? And , if the answer is yes, do I still need to bypass the IR Cab in the Iridium as in the effects loop?
By the way, if I connect the Iridium directly into a powered speaker, I can use the IR Cab, right?
Hello! That should work just fine, we'd still suggest bypassing the cabs however, since you are still using a physical cab and speaker. www.strymon.net/faq/how-can-i-disable-the-amp-or-cab-on-iridium/
When connecting directly into a powered speakers like FRFR speakers or studio monitors is when we'd suggest using the IRs, since these typically are flatter in response compared to speakers for guitar amps.
Does this require DI box before FOH or interface? I've been hearing things that this might be needed to balance the signal. Strongly considering moving to this as my main "amp" solution for my bedroom since it offers so much. I can output straight into headphones, into DAW, jam at night when the muse strike me. As much as I like tube amps, it's been years and years of convincing myself that it works for an apartment. But it doesn't. And you can move air with this just as well, if you go into good speakers.
I have have it connected straight to the interface with a short instrument cable. Works great.
I have a Strymon Iridium and have a quick question. I'm trying to connect from Boss RV-5 Reverb stereo output into Strymon Iridium stereo input. The problem is there's only one input spot for Iridium. I know there's a stereo switch knob on the top, but how can you plug the two stereo output into one stereo input spot? Thank you!
Hey Tony! You'd want to use a Y cable such as these:
store.strymon.net/sinasoid-v-cable/
store.strymon.net/1-4-trs-male-to-dual-1-4-ts-female-cable/
Hope this helps!
Can this be run directly into a standard guitar amplifier, like a Deluxe Reverb? Thanks.
Yes, we just suggest bypassing the pedal. If you want to use the amps on Iridium as preamps we suggest bypassing just the cabs.
www.strymon.net/faq/how-can-i-disable-the-amp-or-cab-on-iridium/
Still so many usage questions, @strymon. We need a video that walks you through various setup options, as I don't see a diagram on the website. First, if you aren't recording direct, not at a gig with a full PA, and not wanting to practice with headphones....how do you hear this? It won't power a regular guitar cab, correct? Would it require a powered PA cab? Second, I'm not understanding how you'd get a true stereo setup live. Most clubs aren't running their PA system stereo, so would you need to bring two powered PA cabs and set them up as a left/right option?
You can monitor sound through either the LEFT and RIGHT OUTPUTS or from the dedicated headphones output in front. As the output signals do not have the power to drive large speakers, you can connect to a PA/mixer or to powered speakers/monitors. If a mixer has more than 1 input channel available for your signal and they can be panned, you can get a stereo signal. If not, you can bring your own stereo PA/mixer/powered speakers to set up a stereo rig.
How can I run my Iridium into my Bose L1 or L2? Would I have to bypass the cab sims? Or just run it normal with amp and cab into Bose? Thanks for an exceptional product Strymon!!
Or bypass amp?
hello, how do you connect to a mixer (no xlr😢)
I would like to ask what level of the output of Strymon Idirium? Is it LINE Level or Musical Instrument Level? Do I need to turn on the Hi-Z button when I connect to the audio interface?
We recommend connecting Iridium to a line level 1/4" connection. If it's too quiet, then set the inputs to instrument level. Iridium is buffered bypass so either the hi-z or normal inputs will work, there shouldn't be any impedance issues.
can I use double iridiums to run stereo setup? and how would you recommend the routing options, if I am runing BigSky and Timeline and el capistan?
Iridium has a TRS stereo input as well as dual TS stereo outs, so you can run a stereo setup with just one if you'd like. You can certainly use two separate Iridium's though if you want two different amp models going at a time. If that's how you're going to use them, you can split the signal before going to each Iridium, then go mono out of each, and take those two mono outs and run them as stereo ins into your reverbs/delays. At that point, you can also experiment with parallel routing (so running one mono signal through TimeLine/El Cap and another through BigSky) for added sonic experimentation. Hope this helps!
Hey dudes. Short thing: Iridium with passive oractive DI box?
Big sky cabfilter DI (without iridium but with sun set) - active or passive DI?
Thx.
They say on the Radial engineering videos, that with active equipment, you should use passive DIs, and with passive equipment, active DIs.
Can i connect my interface outlevel to Iridium input line level for reamping the dry signal from daw?
Sure! We just recommend setting Iridium to Line Input Level.
it will be a super pedal if :
1. provide send return for time based effect (if i put post iridium, i can't use headphone to hear my time based effects)
2. xlr out for direct to mixer
3. aux in to jamming from my smartphone
1. Put effects in front of Iridium
2. Maybe SOL on that one, not a deal-killer for me.
3. Use a Y-cable.
I wonder how to put some effects between pre and power amp section on this pedal (like big sky, flint or some chorus fx), if I want to record the amp with spring reverb (or fx) in a room not the amp in the room and the room inside a spring tank xD
Hi there! There's no way to do so, it's either before the amp, cabs, and ROOM, or after all of that.
@@strymon thanks for the answer. Maybe I turn down room and put the effects after the pedal and then adding a room reverb as Plugin. Great sounding pedal anyway
Honestl I’m getting mine! But I have a couple of questions but main questions is, if I want to connect it to PA system but we have a Mixer connected to PA. Do I connect the pedal directly to mixer so it can go to PA system or do I connected directly to PA system. And our speakers that we have are far apart (PA system) thank you!
TeeVeee You would have to connect the pedal into a DI BOX and then that DI BOX connected into the mixer (as a mic) Hope that helps
You'd want to run Iridium into a channel on your mixer so you can then run it out to both PA speakers. Whether or not you need to use a DI depends on the situation and mixer. Check this FAQ out for more:
www.strymon.net/faq/do-i-need-to-use-a-di-with-iridium/
strymon thanks for the response I’m
definitely getting one now!! Ordering it tomorrow morning
Is it possible to connect a physical passive cabinet, e.g. DV mark 1x12 8 ohm disabling the IR? Is it basically like a preamp+ final ?
Iridium doesn't have the ability to power a passive cab. If you have a power amp between Iridium and your cab, you can certainly disable the IRs and use it just as a preamp, however!
Can i use strymon iridium with my boss gt-1 processor to use delay and reverb from the boss gt-1?
Yep! Should work just fine :)
I don't know much about cab sims and Impulse responses, so with that being said could I use this as my amp and then just use an actual cab. Just if I want to hear it at home or use it to jam. If you know let me know.
One way to do it is, plug it into the effects loop of your amp and that would bypass your preamp or amps like the new Katana Mark 2 has a spot that says power amp on the back to plug into.
Iridium's outputs do not have power to drive large speakers as it sends an instrument or line level signal. that would require you to plug into a power amp which then plugs into a speaker cab. If you already have an amp, and it has an effects loop, you can set the pedal to IR CAB bypass mode to bypass the cab modeling and send the amp modeling into the Effects Return/Poweramp In of your amplifier.
strymon thanks for the information.
J Steen thanks for the info
If I want to run this Iridium as my 2nd amp along with my Real Twin Reverb for a stereo setup. Will it work? If I connect from my last Pedal (Stereo reverb) to input of the Twin and mic it, then the second input of the Stereo reverb to the Iridium (finally to PA).
Yes, that setup sounds like it could work sending the two outputs from your reverb pedal to your real amp and the Iridium input respectively.
@@strymon Thanks for the reply. Should I be concerned of any phasing issues beforehand?
@@felipealonso8409 There should not be any phasing issues here since there is no summing of two signals that are out of phase with each other going on here.
Do I need a DI box if I am going to use this to record on my DAW and laptop? I have the volt 476 interface
It depends on a few factors. Iridium’s LEFT and RIGHT audio outputs are 1/4″ unbalanced buffered outputs. The buffered signal when both engaged or bypassed can handle sending signals over long cable runs. This should work fine running directly into your interface's hi-Z 1/4" instrument inputs. However, in some setups, using a DI may help if you encounter any noise or ground loops when connecting Iridium’s outputs directly to a PA/mixer/interface.
Can I run the amp & ir from one output and a DI out of the second output? That would be remarkably helpful in the studio.
You can't run one output unprocessed; both outputs will always have the processing for amp and IR. You can always use a splitter before going into Iridium if you need one unprocessed signal, just a thought :)
@strymon, thanks for letting me know. I know I could feed a splitter/di box but it seems like most of the hardware I would need is already included in the iridium by itself so I was being hopeful. Something to consider in an update or future unit.
@@thecompletejake Thanks for the feedback :)
My only gripe is why no XLR hookup?
Will this give me an amazing Yngwie tone in combination with a grey dod overdrive?
We'd like to hear when you give it a try :) Here is a video you might enjoy: ruclips.net/video/kwP_Vec1RA0/видео.html
The outputs are unbalanced line level, so we'll always need a DI for the front house mixer, am I right? If I also plug on a guitar amp, do I need a reamp box? I usually put a Flint as the last on my chain. How does it handle the impedance for different outputs?
Whether or not you need to use a DI with Iridium depends on your setup and what Iridium is going to output to.
A DI has several basic functions:
* It will convert a high impedance signal to a low impedance signal. It will still however accept a low impedance signal from a guitar, preamp, keyboard, active pickup or other devices.
* It converts an unbalanced signal to balanced one.
* It brings down a strong instrument or line level signal to a mic level signal suitable for connection to the microphone input of a mixer or recording interface.
* It helps prevent ground loops and other noise by providing an isolated connection. Some DIs also have phase correcting abilities.
Iridium’s LEFT and RIGHT audio outputs are 1/4″ unbalanced buffered outputs with an output impedance of 100 ohms.
If your mixer/interface/etc. is looking for a balanced signal, mic level signal, or you are having any noise issues, then you may want to consider using a DI box with Iridium.
@@strymon Thank you very much! The same applies if my last output comes from another Strymon pedal, like Flint or Deco?
@@denisnetto_2024 Yep! If you need a DI, you can use it after the last pedal in your signal path.
If I place my reverb and delay AFTER the Iridium but still want to send it out to FOH, is it possible?
Yes, just connect the outputs to a PA/mixer or DI box, then, PA/mixer.
@@strymon The output of the last pedal or, the Iridium?
@@jfrancis411 The output of the last pedal in the signal chain.
Can I run the Iridium through a clean solid state guitar amp like it was a PA? Would I have to by bass anything in the Iridium? Thanks.
You can certainly try if you'd like, although a solid state guitar amp probably doesn't have the same flat frequency response of a PA or FRFR speaker. I would experiment with bypassing the cab section and seeing which sounds better.
@@strymon Thanks!
Anyone tried headphone out into bose Bluetooth speaker ?
I notice in the video, you're using a Radial Stereo Direct Box to connect to PA. Doesn't the Iridium have 'direct' plug and play impedance matching? Do you need a separate direct box?
Iridium's outputs are 1/4" unbalanced outputs sending a buffered signal for long cable runs. If your destination requires a balanced connection or you run into noise issues, use a DI box which most venues have for their PA setups or you can bring your own.
How do you connect the Iridium to record on the computer? What cables are needed?
Iridium is not itself an audio interface, so you'd still need an audio interface like a Focusrite or Universal Audio to record Iridium to your DAW. From there you just go 1/4" TS out of Iridium into your interface :)
strymon good to know thank you! Super easy explanation🙌🏽
What di box to use best with iridium for ampless live setting?
There's no right or wrong DI box, depends on a lot of factors including what other features you may want out of it, like ground lift, phase correction etc. Here is a good article:
www.sweetwater.com/insync/di-boxes/
Hello @strymon. Can the output be set to line level for recording? Not sure if that is achieved via the global level advanced setting. If not I guess we'd need a D.I. box.
The pedal will output at unity with the signal it is receiving and adjusted by the LEVEL knob and the secondary LEVEL OFFSET. You only really need the DI if you need balanced connections or have grounding noise.
So can it go straight into a speaker cab? Without a power amp?
No, Iridium has no power amp capabilities. We recommend using active monitors or FRFR speakers, but if you want to use a traditional passive guitar cab you'll need a power amp between them.
Can you explain how to use midi with the Iridium? What is a good midi device to use with it? Looking forward to purchasing soon. Thank you Strymon
Hi! Please check out this FAQ:
www.strymon.net/faq/how-to-control-iridium-with-midi/
If you still have questions don't hesitate to email support@strymon.net.
The lack of any sort of loop (somewhere after the preamp and before the Iridium's output) is a show stopper to me. If I'm going to be using a digital rig like this, I don't want to have to hook up a direct box after my pedals to get my complete signal to the board. That said, It seems like a good solution for people who would rather continue using their own effects pedals, or people who use no effects and just go dry. (Personally...I loathe using time-based effects IN FRONT of the amplifier...that's a recipe for mush if you use any overdrive in the amp.)
Leon C .....I agree....seems odd that they show putting time based stuff after the iridium when they wouldn’t even be heard on stage unless you went out using the cab setting on the big sky....but why when the iridium is so much better at this? Something doesn’t add up here. Strymon must have made a choice to leave it out or reserve that feature for a larger more complete solution pedal...hopefully. I’m going to be pissed when that comes out cuz my iridium is arriving in a day or two. I’ll use it for what it is right now and decide if a larger version is for me if it becomes available. Otherwise I can use the headphone out on my interface to capture the more or less complete sound of my board for home use. They are way too smart to overlook the loop feature.....something either prevented it or they have something else coming down the pipe. Lots of people like the “all in front of the amp” setup and this is exactly what they would want. Another group want more features and many presets etc. similar to the timeline.
Hi Leon, not having an effects loop was a deliberate design decision in order to provide the existing feature set in a small form factor. We recommend placing effects you want post preamp drive after Iridium for the same effect as using an effects loop. If you were planning on going directly out of Iridium into a board, interface, etc. you can simply go out of whatever effects you've placed after Iridium instead. Hope this helps!
@@strymon Thanks for the reply. We lose out on the headphone functionality though. The Iridium is amazing in every other way.
@@strymon So the Iridium will push through the effects that follow it? Then out of the last pedal to a DI Box? Thanks!
@@jfrancis411 Yes. Iridium works just as any other pedal, if you want to run it through reverb and delays, you simply place them after Iridium. Then you'd go out from the outputs of those pedals (or whatever pedals are last in the signal path) and go out to your DI/interface/mixer etc.
Is it a power amp + Cab simulator or a preamp + Cab simulator? I don't see send and return to put some pedal between pre and cab, so I think that it is a power amp. But the equalization is strange in a power amp.
Help me
Marco Masiello it is modeling preamp+poweramp
We modeled both the preamp/tonestack as well as the power sections of the amplifiers, and from there the signal flows to the stereo impulse response cabinet, and then on to the hybrid room ambience. Hope that helps!
@@strymon I believe it is a compromise because in this way the signal chain is not respected. With a send and return it would have been perfect..
But... Maybe I'm wrong
Could have a send/return to allow putting effects after the amp and before the IR, just like an effects loop
Yeah, complete whiff. Deal breaker for me.
Bizarre that something so obviously essential wasn’t implemented.
Correct, there is no effects loop. Works very well just placing the effects in front or placing delays/reverbs after Iridium. The only thing you don't get because of this is the sound of those post effects through Iridium's own headphone jack, otherwise, sounds great live to PA/mixer (with its own headphone connection) or for direct recording.
@@strymonSo cab emulation into effects? Goes against common wisdom that I've read. How does the Iridium account for this?
@@milk_bath You can turn off the cab emulation, which would allow you to use the outs as a loop for any time-based effects.
Hi, how could i connect iridium to my audio device for home Recording ? I have a motu microbook 2..
You can connect to your interface using 2 (or 1, if you want to run mono) cables into the line level inputs on your interface. From there, assign these inputs to audio tracks on your DAW and you are good to go.
If you have any more questions please email support@strymon.net

strymon - how can I bypass garagebands guitar simulations and record just iridium into garageband?
Strymon, can I run this direct into a 1/12 16 ohm cab? Eliminate my amp heads?
Hi there - Iridium doesn't have a power amplifier in it, so you would need to have some type of amp to be able to drive a speaker cabinet. A number of companies make small power amps nowadays, so you should be able to cut down the weight dramatically.
Could you use this for bass tones too? For recording and live?
I read somewhere that it is possible. Just load trough the manager bass IRs.
Could I connect this directly into a focusrite scarlet?
Yes :)
Unfortunately, I play at home, and don't have a PA, and this is too pricey to just have for recording. I'm glad I figured out you can't plug this into a amp, before I bought it. They sound great, though.
Sandy Turner this amp is far cheaper than any Fender amp you would buy. Even the Blues JR’s are $600... then you have to buy a good ribbon mic, cables, mic stands, etc. With the Iridium, it’s plug and play for only roughly $450 including the cables.
@@PaulIsbell Right..I understand that. But I'm running three amps, a Boss MK2 head, a Quilter Mini 101, and a Boss KT50 into 2cabs, with a Tonker, and a Swamp Thang, and another Peavey 2X12., which I have miced up, already. This setup sounds great. This whole IR world is new to me, so I'm just trying to get into it. But, I need some other things, first, for recording. I'm not well versed in DAW recording, so, just trying to figure out what I need to get. Thanks.

Not a silly question at all! Yes, there is a power-up mode for bypassing the amp :)

Can you connect direct to a guitar cabinet?
Hi, As speakers require that you send them a signal with power behind it in order to push the speakers, you would need to use a power amp between the Iridium and the speaker cabinet. Feel free to email us at support@strymon.net if you need more help. Thanks
Can you play back tracks through this?
Not through Iridium itself, as it does not have any dedicated aux inputs.
Why the direct record have to be placed end of fx chain ?
Are you referring to Iridium being last in the signal path? If so, it doesn't necessarily need to be. You can place effects after Iridium if you want to do that :)
It's compatible with all studio monitors?
It depends! Iridium's outputs are unbalanced TS 1/4". If your monitors have TRS or XLR balanced inputs, you might need a DI to get the signal to be balanced.
How do you put delays and reverbs after iridium? Does it need a di?
Since Iridium has unbalanced TS outputs, you can run those into any reverb or delay pedal. You don't necessarily need a DI after Iridium depending on what you are going to after it (for example an instrument level audio interface that accepts unbalanced outputs.)
@@strymon I just want to run into my adam audio a7x studio monitors but obviously want the delay and time based effects after the iridium.
@@truthfactreality6814 Understood! You should be able to just run the outputs from your last pedal into the monitors then, for example guitar -> Iridium -> BigSky.

How the heck do I get the multiswitch to save extra favorite tones from the iridium? I’ll be damned if I can figure it out. 😡
Can I connect this amp pedal to a cabinet?
As long as it's a powered cabinet or you use a separate power amp. Iridium has no power amp capabilities and will not power a passive speaker.
Is there a way I can use this with my Roland JC40?
You can go out direct from the Iridium to any amp you want. The JC 40s are known for being a pretty good clean platform, so I'd experiment with using the cab bypass and see if you like cabs vs. no cabs better :)
strymon nice! So would the iridium go to the front I put or the effects loop?
@@RNZTY You can do either. Most people though would connect the output of Iridium to their amp's effects return though, and then just bypass Iridium's cabs :)
You guys. :-o
Two Notes Cab M. You end up on my feed and I’m gonna recommend a better product that’s cheaper and more versatile
TheTwo Notes Cab M. is a different animal and for different application. Iridium is supposed to accurately simulate 3 amps + the stereo! 96KHz!! IRs. I'm really looking forward to test it!
Can i use it like a pedal through my amp?
Technically, yes, but it works best when heard or monitored through something that will NOT color the sound of the Iridium's amp and cab like a full range/flat response speaker, PA system, or studio monitors.
Thanks for the response!
Do i need a DI box to record direct?
Not necessarily. Should be fine to go direct into a recording interface.
Where I should put a Sunset in that pedalboard order?
Pony Gracian i would say, right at the beginning of your sound chain, or as the second pedal if you’re using a compressor before 😉
In the configuration shown at 01:16 with Iridium last in chain after TimeLine and BigSky, you would put Sunset first in chain before TimeLine. In the configuration shown at 01:24 with Iridium first in chain, you would place Sunset before Iridium (so Sunset is first in chain). Hope that helps!
@@strymon Thanks so much guys!
Why u guys @strymon dont give the iridium an xlr connection???
Because you would need two of them. Thus, the formfactor would break, and We'll end up with a Volante-sized box(my 5 cents).
Hi! Not having XLR jacks was a deliberate design decision in order to provide the existing feature set in a small form factor, as well as so people who want to place other guitar effects after Iridium don't have to convert XLR to 1/4". Hope this helps!
Do I need a direct box with this? My 'sales engineer' swears that I do. Most of the YT videos I've seen infer that I do not. What is the truth?
It varies depending on your set up. If you are running directly into an interface or mixer with dedicated instrument level inputs meant for guitar or bass or other unbalanced signal sources, you probably don't. If you are in a live situation using mixers or boards that are expecting a balanced signal, or you are experiencing ground loops, a DI box might be something worth looking at.

What’s the song name and it’s artist please?
The Iridium theme was done by Vanessa Wheeler! Follow her here: instagram.com/vavaenvivo
Why would you place delay before amp?
Some folks do that when running into clean amps :)
@@strymon I just got my iridium will definitely try
How many presets per amp can fav button save?
@@FeritNecib The Favorite footswitch can only save one preset, and that preset can use any of the 3 amps you choose.
Oh man, what an amazing product! But I'm sad because I'm not the ideal user for this. It's made for performers or top musicians, not for homeplayers as somebody says it before. You say I can plug it in to the effects return of my transistor amp, but i'll not get the greatness of this product. So sad because I really wanted this jewel in my pedalborad.
You do not need to be a top or pro player to enjoy Iridium? It sounds amazing through headphones if you do not want to connect to an amp or PA/powered speakers.
Why no XLR?
XLR did not fit the format and feature set we wanted to provide with this product. The 1/4" buffered outputs can support long cable runs, and if you need a balanced connection, you can use a DI which most if not all venues have these days.
strymon plus if you want to be really sexy, you can bring a pair of Radial fireflies and be all set to blow some minds I would suspect. Hooray no more dragging an amp around ever again ❤️
Nooooooo. I just payed off my deco.. after acquiring the riverside, sunset, flint, capistan, i juat had to have some tape chorus and old school fatness on my tone.. please stop.. at least till i pay off this line of credit.. then ill be back for more strymon goodness in the happiest signal chain ever.
That is a great combination. If you post any videos please share with us :)
You want them to stop earning money? 😂They need to sell things, if they wanna stay in the business.
I miss an effects loop.
Put iridium before time based effects. You don't need fx loop.
What's the gray guitar in the middle at 1:47?
Hi Noelle! That guitar is a Grosh ElectraJet :)
Late to the game. But its here nonetheless
Johnny Teo does’nt matter if you are late as long as you arrive. And there is really only one product out there to compete to my ears, the Neunaber neuron. So Strymon arrived second. Thats pretty good in my book. Peace 🙏🏼
I purchased the iridium but soon realized that is very overestimated. The poor quality reverb cannot be compared with TC hall of fame that is a serious reverb. The clean tone on the three amp emulations is acceptable, but the crunch has nothing to do with the real thing and has got a lot of ripple noise, that means poor design. Balanced output is missing and that is a big minus for a professional rig of such a cost. I understand why there are so many in second hand market.
why background music instead of hearing actual pedal? lame
Two things: 1) the music for this video was made using Iridium, and 2) we did a TON of musical examples on video of Iridium for the launch. Just check out the Iridium playlist to hear em'! Hope that helps..
So for most of us that are not famous, or pro gigging guitarists or working in a studio, we can’t plug it into an amp. That’s ok. I just saved $400 plus tax.
You can, it just will not give you the best results since it is best designed with full range flat response setups like a PA system, studio monitors, or headphones. If your amp has an effects loop, you can bypass Iridium's IR CAB modeling and use it as the preamp and connect into your amp's effects return.
strymon I’ll just use my riverside but a lot of us do still use amps. I realize a certain amount of guitar players can use this but in reality how many people are pros? The home player spends a ton of money on gear. Not everyone wants to be a performer. Not that we can’t play. We don’t want to perform for various reasons. Like we went to college and got a regular job. Or we don’t want to be on the road because we have a family. I would love studio work but it just wasn’t the path I went down. So I’m all for this but not excluding amp users. And if anyone thinks amps are done they’re not. Not one store couldn’t keep Friedman’s JJ jr amp head in stock. So somebody’s playing amps. Thx for replying though. I’m not sure it would sound as good as it could in the return input. Would you be willing to do a demo of putting it thru the return input? FYI I would have bought this ASAP. But my preamp of an amp I spent yrs getting is just not worth replacing. Friedman smallbox limited. Other amps I have yes I would not mind using this pedal to help them along.
@@robertwellington2616 I think for its intended use this pedal seems amazing. For me it will be wonderful in the studio and sometimes my band plays small gigs at relatively low volume (with electronic drums) so instead of hauling my heavy amp around I could just bring this and a tuner and run through our PA/ Not to mention easy package to take with you when traveling or at home to practice with using headphones...extremely versatile and a nicer option than some of the "fly rigs" Ive tried.
Paul Bordelon I understand that. I just would like to be able to use it with my amp. That’s all. I understand it’s easier to carry and makes your life easier. It’s the Revival Drive basically but lighter and digital. Again, I just would like to use it too.
