The way Scott’s staring while she talks, completely mesmerized like a small child, it’s the most relatable thing! 😂 I’d be absolutely dumbstruck to learn from her in person. So much passion and charisma with the pedal steel, it’s magnificent to watch! 🙌
Love Love Love Sarah. We have such a great time each year when she headlines at the Dallas Steel Guitar festival. We get together and jam in the Mullen Room. I followed her for years on line then got the opportunity to meet her and then play music with her. She is like one of the regular players. Such a sweet and beautiful person. Many players at her level are not as approachable and regular. No big head with Sara just an incredible talent that loves to jam.
Scott, seen you and your group in Rockford Illinois. Simply........ Thank You, best concert I've been to and I have been to alot. I'm sixty-nine years old. Thanks again, God Bless You ..... Jeff
That was excellent, Scott. Gary at Promenade Music alerted me to Sarah’s work when I bought my steel last year. I’ve watched lots of her performances on RUclips - outstanding and inspirational. I hope to see Sarah perform live one day. Two great players in one video - thank you, both.
What a wonderful frank, open, honest interview this is from Sarah, I was aware of Sarah for many years within the pedal steel world, never knew that Sarah was so young when she started playing. Many years ago in the early 1980's I bought a Sho~Bud Pro1 but could not find any one to tutor me back then so I wound up selling the steel. I to am totally fascinated by this instrument and have been for more years that I can remember now, only wish I had kept the steel and persevered on my own. Great interview really enjoyed it and learned a lot from just listening to Sarah.
Loved this, Scott. I play guitar, but pedal Steel is awesome. As far as future interviews - I like hearing from great players that I don't know about! 😎
Nice to see Her explaining her Pedal Steel. I have known Sarah personally for 26 years now. But I haven´t seen her for a few years. I saw her in Silkeborg in Denmark for the first time back in 1997. I was a member of her Fan Club back in the day, attending to concerts, not only in Denmark, but also in The Netherlands and of cause in England. Last time I met up Sarah (and her Husband) was in 2017.😊
Great interview. I'm surprised at her using the metal thumbpick. I have tried it and while it worked fine I still prefer the Fred Kelly speedpicks. I have tried all kinds and each has their own tone and feel. Sarah is a beautiful spirit and I hope she continues to grace the steel. She will be a part of an upcoming show in Branson and I have reserved seats to enjoy the show.
I am a senior musician and share Sarah's passion for serving musical forte . Stagecraft is a skill to learn i, did singer gtr . Speaking between songs is equally important to connect. Play lists , moving on stage . playing from memory.
This is wonderful, the whole thing. A real open talk together touching on so many aspects of the pedal steel and Sarah’s talents, while she gives credit to all the hero’s that inspired her. Great! What’s the trick with that Franklin pedal?
Great video! I was lucky to come across Sarah while she was on tour with Lisa McHugh around 2018. Have since bought my first lap steel guitar but seem to be struggling to find any decent lessons?
Wow ! I am in total love with sound of pedal steel and have alot of respect for people that can play if i had enough money i would learn how to play😊😊❤❤❤❤
Great interview with Sarah who is an amazing steel player. I’ve been looking for the George L E 66 pickup for awhile and can’t seem to find one anywhere. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks from NYC for posting this video it’s very informative.
I'm a George L's E-66 man myself. George L's have stopped making pickups altogether, you can get them from those who already own them, if they will sell them of course, but I don't know of any outlets with any in stock on sale. GFI used to use George L's pickups as stock in all their guitars, their own special tone, they claimed that the old 'GFII' pickup was 'akin' to the George L's E-66, which it was, I have one in my GFI Ultra and it sounds amazingly close. I have E-66's in my Mullen G2, My WBS and my Bennett keyless. GFI are now using the Steeltronics PH10 Humbucker which I have heard and is IMHO similar to the E-66 tone. Apart from that it is a case of prying the E-66's in existence from the current owners, check the Steel Guitar Forum or even Ebay to see if you can get them, I got one on the British PSG Forum second hand. Good luck anyway, but that's as much as i can do for you. But I won't be selling any of mine anytime soon that's for sure.
@@sledge1960 Thank you for the reply and all the info you gave me. I have a Mullen G2 also, I put a Lawrence 705 pickup in it but the E66 is more to my liking. Maybe I’ll find one somewhere down the road. Thanks again
@@Junior-jw1bb I like Bill Lawrence's pickups too, I have a 710 in my Rittenberry, works well in it. I do prefer the E-66 myself though, that special tone you get from it plus I'm a big Sarah Jory fan and if it's good enough for Sarah, need I say more. No problem Junior, we are a close-knit family and if you can't help one of your own, well... If you can get a GFI II pup that is about as close as you'll get.
Hi Scott. I’ve just bought my first pedal steel and it’s one that Sarah used to own. As she explained in your excellent video, the pedals and levers are in a different order to all the lessons I’m seeing online. Do you think I should just learn to play it as it is or should I take the trouble to get them all adjusted first?
She's a treasure, her passion and love of the music is infectious.
Fully agreed 👍
Amen to that.

How can you not be star struck next to Sarah Jory. Honoured to call her a friend.

Wonderful interview. Sarah is fantastic. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
One of the sweetest people I’ve ever met.
Got to meet her and her husband at the DALLAS Steel Show in 2017.
They are both extremely personable folks.
Agreed fully, 2 of the best people ❤️

What’s the trick with that Franklin pedal?
The Franklin pedal is just another way of adjusting the tuning of some of the strings. It creates a Sus 2.
Great video!

There’s a load of free pedal steel lessons on my RUclips channel. Both Sarah and I offer remote lessons via Skype.
I have always admired sarah, her expression and feeling is great
Totally agree
Really great lady and great interview!!
Thanks so much.

You’ll get there Scott
Dope!

Scott could you do a video on how shara tuned her steel.. couldn't catch it all.. thank you...
There’s lots of pedal steel tutorials on my channel already and more coming.
pedal setup makes complete sense!
It really does!

Sarah’s pedals and knee lever combination makes a lot of sense. I’d stick with it!!
Stick with conventional "Nashville" E9 3+3 to start.
PSG is hard enough with messing with different setups!!! 😲
Coincidence that she said her dad worked for Coca-Cola and IIRC so did Dave Hartley (davepedalsteel)
Extremely fascinating interview.
Thanks!
Exquisite

👍👍

Hi sara its colinp potts just saying hello long time no see takecare x x
Sorry mispelt my own name (colin potts)😂😂😂
🤣
People don’t realize how many SPRINGS are involved in Pedal Steel Guitars.
True 👍
It’s the “Talent” thing. Its not a learned thing like a job title.Your Talent is on YOU….no one else. There is no Training for that.
I think I stick with guitar, I have enough tuning 6 strings
City lights
Tune!!
It’s like a DRUG when the music is HAPPENING whether onstage or on the bus.
Agreed
I love Sarah Pedal steel stuff first come across her in about 1989 through Tony Goodachra and seeing her at Hartlepool iona club
Awesome
