The jug on my 4910 from factory had 62 thousandths squish. Which I thought was terrible. I did not know that some of them are as large as 85 thousandths. That is terrible. On another note this video is absolute gold! Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and experience!
Exhaust gasses also shrink as they cool. You see guys with a 4 inch final section on their car exhaust and the have stopped the cooling gasses so the shrinking gas behind it runs in to it. I get the fact that you want to get the heat out of a 2 stroke thats worked but you are right about potential flow versus velocity.
This helped me a great deal! I am an amateur at working on chainsaws. So I see things and have an idea that I believe will be better but I dont know. This video backed up some of my own thoughts about my 4910. Thank you!
Charles up here in interior Alaska, we dont have the option of running high octane fuel, pretty much 87, that sits all winter long that comes from a barge, does your porting require higher octane gas, if so I can always get octane booster, really good video on explaining your logic as well as things you ran into.
Thanks Charlie Great work!! Years ago I read an article where a guy polished the intakes just as the exhaust and when he had the shape he want and polished smooth a took 220 grit and roughed it back up. I was wondering if the intake could be sand blasted or bead blasted to get a consistent texture after polishing them?? My mind is alway pondering such things!
well its nice to share info. this stuff is gonna die and will be lost...there is quite a few on youtube that don't want disclose their tricks like they are worried people will be stealing it and making money, i could name a few. which you might find the odd people will have a go, but in the grand scheme will you lose anything i really doubt it? if you do quality work people will always come back. nice work though👍
@@Broddi169 I’ll be at 1 51 and didn’t write my final numbers down and I don’t have it anymore. So now I am chasing trying to match that build. Moral of the story is write down everything.
Have you ever tried advancing the timing on one? I’ve been working on mine got the lowers done and squish set. Mine had .080 squish 😅. Gasket was .010 and took .050 off the base. Haven’t put a wheel on it yet to see where everything landed.
Nice work Charles and your explanations of what you are doing and why are very helpful. Do you run the stock coil and are you changing/plugging the decomp? Looking forward to seeing the muffler mod. Really appreciate your videos!
Very cool man. Are you leaving the transfer roofs as is from factory? Or raising them to match what you take off the base? Kinda sounds like you mostly just leave the transfer roofs alone.
@@mackenziesibley7025 I use to use a rci 2950 with a Palomar 90a or a firebird 500 with a cobra2000 on a sigma 5/8wave 413 was my numbers not Ben on the air in a wile to shoot skip
And this recipe makes for one of the baddest 50cc saws built
Take note of what this guy does

Excellent description of how you modify your echo 50cc saws. And it all sounds logical.
I appreciate you taking the time to explain what and why! 👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🙏🙏🙏

Thanks Mr Brisco. Very helpful. 👍
Thanks Charles. I have a 501 and plan on doing my first ever porting on it. Just getting set up with a timing wheel etc. Thanks again.

That’s exactly right, very uncommon for 2 saws to have the same squish from the factory. No two builds are ever the same. I’m into the 51 Husky’s now.
I loved the 51 n 55. I have a cherry 55 I restored.

I keep walking by the 4910 at my local feed store eye balling it. Think I’m gona pick it up next pay!
