    Hats off to you Charles, another fantastic build. I'm amazed at the consistency of which you build these Echo power heads. Flawless in so many ways, true craftsmanship and high attention to detail. The talent is all from hard work in honing this craft of building strong chainsaws. You are the Echo guru.. SLANT'E 🙏

    Your cylinder work looks great! I bought a new 620PW running a 27”, 32”, and sometimes down to a 20” bar if Imonly limbing. It’s a great dependable saw, but a bit heavy. Chose this saw due to having quite an assortment of Echo saws I bought when a local tree company closed its doors due to owners death and I bought everything they had. Most are older saws but they run very well due to great maintenance and basically the tuffness of these Echo saws and also newer Stihl, and Husqvarna falling saws that made up the fleet. I’m wondering if you do porting and a wide power band every day working- woods type of saw upgrades Most for customers or do you just due your own saws? I’d like to upgrade this 620, a 601 and CS 8000.
    Thanks for the accurate information and excellent work quality you do on these saws. Also the bench dyno backup really proves your theory on timing and design of cylinder work. Please keep the videos and information coming! Semper fi!

    Love you work . Iam building a 381 squish 28000 and exhaust at 103 intake at 111 and blow down 26 . Seems my intake may be little high. What would you recommend?

  • @themanchannel8761
    @themanchannel8761 2 года назад

    That's an awesome saw!
    I'm planning on porting my CS-590. Any suggestions as to numbers? At this point I have 138* exhaust duration and 156* intake duration, with 16* of blowdown. I've completely gutted the muffler, but it still dumps out in the stock top location. The gutting REALLY helped it breathe, by the way.

    Hey Charlie B. I was re-watching this video, again, and was wondering if in the 9 months since you posted this if you had dropped any 620's any further into the freeporting territory?
    I was reading about some folks who ended up freeporting other saws and while it didn't help, it didn't seem to hurt either. Was just curious. And then Boedy made a video on it a few days ago and seemed to get a similar experience. I found it interesting because it seemed to go against "common knowledge" and then I found other people saying the same thing.

    Im 6 months in to the tree business and love it.I’m torn between the 620pw or 501. I wanted something in the pro level for when I get better to do some side work.
    What saw would you suggest?

  • @justinterrell9555
    @justinterrell9555 2 года назад +2

    It sounds crazy but I had a 590 last year that was free porting probably .030 maybe a little more and it ran decently strong. I thought it was going to run like shit. Regardless its not good as you know. Lol

    Charles, really liking these echo builds. I'm thinking of getting a CS-620p and a CS-8002 to add to my arsenal.... Poth I would like to port.... Do you have to change the H jet on the 620 carb? Heard they run too rich and don't lean enough on the stock carb because it has a bypass jet? Any guidance would be great thanks!

    • @CharlesBrisco

      I tend not to have to mess with the nozzle

    • @jarrodskeete52
      @jarrodskeete52 2 года назад

      Thanks for the reply.... Do u tend to go fairly square with your timing on the I take and exhaust.... U seem to like 100 on the exhaust and around 80 intake... So about 160 duration on each? I was messing with a shindaiwa 488 this as a 48cc ut they are dual port.... Smalling ports too.... I left them alone but opened the lowers considerably... Anyway lwent a little over on the exhaust at 96 and have about 20thou squish..... 25 degree blow down and 73 on the intake.....have to see how she runs.... I'm hoping the high roof doesn't Rob too much power..... Do you think those numbers are terrible? Maybe increase the intake duration to at least 155? Your 4910's are wicked by the way... Pitty my echo dealer is only Latin America Market.... I can only get the 4510......will you Port one of those in the future?

    • @CharlesBrisco
      @CharlesBrisco  2 года назад +1

      @@jarrodskeete52 96 is were my 660 build an my 4910reedsaw is they both were fine there if it don't have enuff tq an if there's room u might be able to cut some out of the chamber then drop the base witch wud lower ur export an intake port at same time an boost your compression an you get more of your tq back but make shure you don't free port first

    • @jarrodskeete52
      @jarrodskeete52 2 года назад

      Yup that would be a good plan... Unfortunately I'm at the verge of freeporting! Bottom of skirt is right there! Oh well, I will see how it runs.... Will have to pull some rpm to get power out of it.... When it was at 100 Exh timing I was getting 205 psi
      So hopefully my Comression is not too bad by loosing the 4 degrees!
