- Real Deal rumblin' Monaco Orange '69 SS396 Chevelle Malibu hitting Dallas, Texas streets courtesy of Samspace81. I filmed this car out of a now defunct classic car dealership in Dallas, Texas. Enjoy my RUclips channel, new classic car & musclecar videos daily. This is a true Monaco a.k.a. Hugger Orange 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 with factory air conditioning, power front disc brakes, power steering, and the 350HP 396 big block V8 with some performance extras. The transmission is the stout TH400 3-speed automatic. The '68 and '69 Chevelle Malibu was the most aerodynamic of all Chevelles and one of my favorite American Muscle cars of all time. - Samspace81

For those too young to have known about such details ; only the Camaro was allowed to use the term Hugger Orange to describe the paint , as the Camaro's nickname was " the hugger " . Novas and Chevelle's were painted in Monaco Orange , and yes the paint is identical .
Yes, thanks for sharing
It blows my mind how many people buy those aftermarket grille pieces that go on the very left and very right side of the grille AND THEN NEVER EVEN BOTHER TO PAINT THEM ALL BLACK LIKE THE REST OF THE GRILLE! I swear, 80% of the "SS" Chevelles (whether they are real or clones) driving around today have the outer grille pieces with the silver paint on them. The Super Sports had ALL BLACK GRILLES! The non-SS Malibus had black grilles with the silver paint on the front edges of the grille lines. Drives me insane seeing those silver accents on those outer trim pieces on SS cars.
Pet Peeve
Thank you for the vid it took me back to 1978 when I found my 138 code 396/horse shoe shifted T-400 750 double pumper Holley gas was only 75 cents a gallon 12bolt posi and a full back seat that could talk I would blush now thank you ladies for my leap into manhood all my girlfriends drove the car also good thing I worked for firestone tire THAT CAR WAS THE CATS MEOW!

I do now
Years ago I bought two 1966 caprice Chevy that had been in a barn. Parked for 37 years. One had the 396 and 4 speed. Someday hope to get it running again. Can't wait!
That's awesome. Did you?
Most perfect sounding 396 I have ever heard.
Car and colour is amazing.
Thank you for watching Samspace81, Kamil.
I bought one of these in 1980 for $600. Same thing, SS with a 396 and canvas top. Mine was white. I crashed it and bought a clean 69 firebird for $950 three years later. Crashed that too. I actually got airborne in that crash. Sure wish I had them back now. The funny thing is the local junkyards were full of these things at that time.and about half were super clean bodies but blown or other mechanical problems . They could be easily bought for $100
I know the routine, these old muscle cars could accelerate but they could not stop or steer. I wrecked 3.
I still have mine after 23yrs and unlike any of you yahoos I take care of my shit.
excellent chevelle, gotta love them A-Bodies
