- So I recently switched over from the Ark GRiP Performance Catback to the Fast Intentions Catback with Non-Resonated Test Pipes so I had to make sure to record how it sounds.
I noticed its hard to determine how loud these systems are so I used my main video camera to get stable audio levels and used my voice as reference for the difference in volume.
I'll go over why I switched from the Ark pipes in another video

Dude, great video. I'm so glad you took into account phone audio quality AND a comparison of your voice at the same distance of the car and at a normal level. This exhaust is clearly crazy on cold start and under load.

This man understands! You can't accurately gauge the noise level of an exhaust from a youtube video. I straight-piped my Mustang GT after hearing a couple videos on youtube and thought "meh, it sounds pretttty nice". and it was straight up UNBEARABLE. Videos can't capture the verberations inside the cabin, the drone, the ear bleeding noise level. For a whole week I was scared to even start the car because it sounded like a straight up bomb going off in my neighborhood.

1000%, if you get the opportunity to pick up their long tube headers, DO IT. Somehow made the sound even better!

Dzenis Sabljakovic if the roads by you are bad I’d avoid the ARK, they sound amazing but I kept scraping them because they hang so damn low. But if you have good roads by you you can’t go wrong with either exhaust

Dzenis Sabljakovic motordyne makes some pretty solid exhausts. My tuner likes them as well. As far as getting the Ark not to scrape it’s kinda hard because there’s normally a bracket to hold up your exhaust in the middle of the car but the way the ark catback is shaped you can’t reinstall that bracket so it just hangs lower. If you don’t plan on lowering the car it should be too much of an issue. I just didn’t wanna deal with my exhaust hitting the ground constantly with NYC roads

I'm not going to lie, there is a drone if you're trying to calmly pass someone on the highway, but nothing crazy enough to make me change the setup

Yes sir, you also have the option of resonated test pipes as well as adding an additional wide band O2 bung. I just went with the non-resonated ones with the standard O2 bung setup. From what I understand the additional O2 bung is not 100% necessary unless you're looking to get a fuel to air ratio reading from that on a dyno or on a custom gauge in the car.

I’ve seen your video on the Ark exhaust and so far all the videos seem on that Ark exhaust..... it’s going to be thumbs down for me but this set up you have now is it that much better than the $2000 Ark exhaust?
Justice267 the build quality versus the Ark exhaust on this is night and day, FI build quality is amazing. The sound on the ark was a little more tamed IMO, this one sounds more aggressive to me (mainly because of the smaller resonators) so I like this setup more. I’m still running FI exhaust over a year later so i definitely like it a lot more than the Ark system.

I went with Motordyne and the art pipes on my Xs coupe. Yes, my art pipe had to be modified. But a muffler shop can do that. THAT SOUND IS AWESOME!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Peter Jordan I’m actually on bags, didn’t wanna commit to the static life with NYC roads lol. But as far as scraping,I haven’t had any issues and I’m normally driving pretty low. I actually moved to this exhaust setup because my previous one hung too low and kept scraping on everything
What did you use to drop your x coupe? I have one too but it’s the sport model and I want it lower.
I’m on Airlift air suspension, so this is just the “show” height not my driving one
Did you have any problems with putting on the test pipes with the awd model?
Angelo Marabello not any more difficult than I’d assume the RWD model would have been, the car was up north it’s whole life so wrestling some of the bolts out was a pain (especially the “demon” bolt) but I don’t think it’s any worse than changing them on RWD from what I’ve seen going through RUclips
I got an afe cat back exhaust it’s deep and subtle I just want it to be a louder would you recommend non resonated or resonated test pipes. I also don’t want it crazy raspy like a straight pipe
Why did you switch from ark grip to fast intentions?
My car is lowered (air suspension) and the angle of the Ark exhaust is setup so it looks great from the back but because of that it hangs very low so it ended up scraping a lot of the time when I was driving, even if I aired all the way back up to my stock ride height.
It sounded great don't get me wrong, but if you at all plan on your lowering your car, or the roads where you drive aren't particularly smooth I would avoid the Ark GRiP cat back

I'm still loving the sound, and I had some 3 inch long tube intakes built by Real Auto Dynamics along with a flame map so I'm throwing some nice blue flames now. If you scroll through my IG page there should be some clips of it.

You can but its like super faint, I honestly never noticed it until I got the test pipes.
Fuuccck.... that sounds wicked if only it wasn't 1400 dollars. God damn I can see why though.
I've had the Ark catback which was around the same price, and not to knock them because I loved that exhaust, but the build quality on this was miles ahead of Ark, well worth it, I would have paid more than 1400 for it honestly.

Danyae Seay just air suspension, when the car lowers it naturally cambers in like that. Now I’m Rubio g rear camber arms and toe bolts, and front camber arms to dial in the ride more

Jerry Garcia I don’t think it’s all that bad, you really only get it at a weird RPM range that you’re normally never in for more than 5 seconds. I have an updated video to this with in cabin noise and flybys for more detail.
Clive Swaby Jr well it's not a like a muffler delete right. I have kinetix hfc and a muffler delete and during low RPM from 2500 to 3000 RPM it's sound like shit. Makes my head rattle, but when I open the throttle up it sounds beast.
@@myfamily1025 its nothing annoying, just at that weird range you can feel the exhaust in the cabin but its not a bad sound, just loud.

Torvarris Brown not in traditional “plug and play” way but for this motor (VQ37VHR) the two tuning softwares commonly used are Ecutek and UPrev. I think uprev might sell pre set tunes that are close to being plug and play, I’m not 100% sure about that though

City Dweller it should since it’s less restrictive than the having the stock cats, but the resonators and mufflers on the stock cat back should keep everything pretty tamed

@@slowghost9057 Nope just extensions for the cables for the O2 sensors. Not sure of any exhaust that comes with O2 sensors honestly.

I have a G37x coupe also but my revs aren’t limited to 4K rpm??? Is this for all or just for certain years?
As far as I know I thought they were all limited to 4K RPM, I could be wrong though, what year is yours?

TheOG3 yes they fit, when your on the site, after you hit the section for Infiniti, click the one for G37 coupe, the parts are all there

TheOG3 once you’re in the section for the G37x coupe the exhaust I’m running is listed as “G37 COUPE STAINLESS STEEL ROUND CAT BACK”

yo i just got a g37 and my boy got a 370z and when he lowered it he didint need camber plates cause factory camber was already good enough. I see some tilt, is that from factory or just after lowering with coils?
The car was on air, so this was the natural camber that happens as the car sits that low at my parked height. To get my rear camber back around -1.5 degrees for my ride height I needed rear upper and lower control arms, before that it was sitting at -3ish degrees and I didn't like how it drove.

From what I remember reading on the forums I don't think that would get rid of this hiss, but I could be wrong, but honestly after having this setup for almost a year now, the hiss is negligible, I honestly don't hear it unless I'm thinking about it

I have resonated test pipes but not with this exhaust and i still get a slight hiss. not as bad as his tho but still there. i would say you hear it for half the length of his hiss. if that makes any sense.

What’s the diff in resonator sizes ?
Compa Cheo the bigger the resonator the less raspy the sound will be since the resonator basically “smooths” our the sound. So the 18” resonator would be the least raspy, the 12” (the one I have) would be raspier than the 18” and with the non-resonated you’re basically getting a more aggressive super raspy sound. I think there’s some other people running this exhaust non-resonated if you search around RUclips
Sounds badass tho. I’m torn between g37 sedan journey or the s trim (which is rare and hard Af to find.) and the other option is q50 w/ 3.7 option
Compa Cheo honestly when I was looking I didn’t care too much about the trim since the motor across the board is pretty much the same and I needed awd for NYC winters. But if you can get the S go for it, those things are sick

Stock headers, test pipes, 12” resonators then the round mufflers you can see from the back. Pretty much whatever you’d see if you look up the catback system on their site
I know this is 5 years ago. But your car only reving to 4k max in park isnt correct. My 05 revs out at 7500 rpm and does the "wum pum pum pum pum" redline stock engine
Not sure about “isn’t correct” I’ve owned a 2013 G37 AWD as well as a 2008 6 spd sport, both of which were tuned. They both had that rev limit. It’s built into the cars for safety. 05 isn’t a G37, so they might not have had those safety restrictions built in the ECU at that time, couldn’t tell you for sure though

Ray Dip by themselves no, maybe the non resonated catback might do it but I’m not sure. Buuut, I just had some custom intakes built along with upgraded fuel injectors and a tune. On the performance map there are still no pops. But on the “flame map” the pops are STUPID loud. Like my friend was driving next to me and said he could feel the pop from the inside of his car.
TLDR: no they don’t, but with a tune the pops are extremely loud

Ray Dip it’s not insane, it’s there but you get used to it after like a week (how healthy is that I don’t know lol) and you only smell it if your behind the car or if you’re at a stop and the wind is blowing towards the front of the car. Apparently according to one of my friends as far as test pipes goes with other cars he’s been around mine isn’t too bad. 🤷🏽♂️
For me the smell was awful in the beginning because I had that “new exhaust smell” that didn’t burn off yet, plus the test pipe smell and I was hungover (my birthday was fun) so it wasn’t to pleasant. But you’ve been running the catback already so you shouldn’t have that issue

About 1800 at the time I think, I don't think the price changed much but you can always check their site to see what its at now.

@@user-up1tt9ok8h Just from knowing how a VQ sounds straight piped probably a good bit louder and a lot raspier. Which I'd avoid since VQ's start to sound like trumpets when theyre completely straight piped. You gonna run test pipes as well?

@@user-up1tt9ok8h If you can get away with it on inspection just run the test pipes. Because I'm assuming a non resonated FI exhaust with mufflers might be quieter than your current setup

It can, but I wouldn't recommend it. If the car is letting off bangs and pops aka backfire, there is detonation happening in the exhaust, if that detonation happens before the cats, that pressure has nowhere to go but back towards your engine. Which can result in a blown engine. So yeah, just wait till you remove your cats before having a tune with backfire

@@karumosr3219 the muffler delete isn’t harmful, and won’t make the car backfire. The car will backfire with a tune. I just wouldn’t tune the car to backfire if you still have your catalytic converters in because the pressure will have nowhere to go

Unless you’re getting them used there’s no way to get a better price. Fast Intentions makes the exhaust on a per order basis so you can only buy them new through their site

That’s all perspective which is why I shot the video the way I did. Watch with headphones on, it gives you a better idea of how loud it is

Gregory Blanc muffler delete just sounds louder and it’s raspy as hell, FI sounds way smoother. Pretty much the same with most exhaust systems VS a muffler delete. Muffler deletes just sound cheaper if that makes sense

Stock headers at this point, I got rid of the test pipes and have the long tube headers now
