Because they can't allow anybody to know whose grades is whose because it would violate FERPA which is a federal law. And that teacher would lose their job.

There was a length of time where, after a few classes, I started cutting my photography elective class because it bored me and, because it was the last class of the day, my parents didn't catch on until a note was sent home 6 weeks in. When I was brought before the assistant principal to explain why, I made this lie that I was under the perception that 'elective' meant I could select to drop it if I didn't like it and that I thought it was my choice to attend. I don't know if they found it plausible but I got off. Otherwise, I never skipped a class, bar one music class.
