I remember watching this game live. Can't believe its been 20 years. I sat down and rewatched the whole thing and wow, i had forgotten how stout the USC defense was in those days. Hard hitting game.
It wasn't just USC but Miami as well! Its simple! Look at the SEC run of success 2003 to 2020 start of NIL! Where were they heavily recruiting Southern California and South Florida. USC and Miami are located in these two area. If they ran right, they can compete with and beat the top of the SEC.
@@arronfrazier7873 💯 Both are private schools as well. NCAA decision makers didn’t like having zero say so they were handled. Shoot, add SMU to the list. Only privatized colleges have ever gotten harsh sanctions. Isn’t hard to figure out…
@@BamsCam226 I'm a Miami fan, who was born and raised in Chicago to the age of 17 until moving to Central West coast of Florida/Tampa Bay area. I've lived in Florida for over 20 years with friends from Tally, to Jacksonville, to Orland, to Ft. Myers/Sarasto to South Florida. The stories of SEC bag men all sounded just like the bag men back in Chicago with Chicago/Chicagoland HS BB recruits. The NCAA refused to do anything to the top SEC schools! Hell, they didn't do shit to the SEC schools who didn't win the SEC or win a national title!
USC under Pete Carroll had a motto, Anybody, Anytime, Anywhere. They also played AT Arkansas, AT Ohio State, AT Virginia Tech, AT Nebraska, AT Notre Dame, AT Virginia, AT Kansas State, and AT Penn State just to name a few.
crazy auburn went undefeated the next year but we wonder how usc auburn would of matched well they played in 03 usc defense dominated but, the 04 auburn team was different.
Also the SC defeated Virginia Tech very handily on opening day on the ROAD .. the same team that Auburn would’ve lost to in their bowl game if the tech receiver hadn’t dropped a TD pass in the end zone. 😉

Yeah we don’t know how Riley will do without Caleb but the same was asked after Mayfield, Murray, and Hurts left. He’ll definitely get a solid season out of Moss and maybe better defense now that he finally canned Grinch.

That SC D..front 7 was lights out!!
This game started it all. It was this win that began the Pete Carroll dynasty.
Leinart was “cool and collected” because he faced a legendary defense during practice each week.
This was the game Paul Dee, the NCAA and the SEC decided to put together a plan to destroy SC football. Fight On ✌🏼

man i had no idea USC traveled all the way to Auburn
And whipped their butts!

04 USC was 3x better than 03 USC
04’ SC team would have done the same thing to Auburn as they did Oklahoma.

The beginning of the Pete Carroll Trojan dynasty
Watching this just makes me more aggravated at the current state of SC under Lincoln Riley…..sigh
These two teams were solid as a rock, great teams and players and guess what no NIL money. NIL will ruin college football
Also coaches weren’t being paid ridiculous amount of money.
absolutely correct.
no it shoudnt . Let them make money

Players were getting paid even then, bro.
None of that neutral site garbage. This is why I respected Carroll. It was home and home series. Unlike some cowards like saban and smart
Loved the way SC just STUFFED that overrated SEC team. SEC can’t beat SC when SC is firing. Auburn is a joke. 😂😂😂😂
When USC had a real coach unlike now with Riley
Not like the bar was set so high with Clay Helton calling the shots before him
@@Nick_Simpson007 aside from a heisman, clay had nearly the same record as riley
