Conrad Thompson owes this man a debt of gratitude. He used Sean’s blue print for all the podcasts he hosts today
I've heard conrad is a jerk..I'm new so is there stories or not really?
@@schnarfschnarf5886 I’ve heard mixed things. More good than bad. I think jealousy has a lot to do with it
@@bb-gc2tx yeah I've heard mixed things about Conrad. I've only had a couple of interactions with Conrad but he's always been ok to me personally.
j feel like conrad used the hakuna matata method, he took what sean was doing and made it more accessible, and made it a series
How exactly? From what I've heard of his podcasts there's almost no similarities other than they're both about wrestling also people were doing shoot interviews long before kayfabe commentaries
Kevin Nash and Sean Oliver on a weekly show would be epic.
Kevin Nash story telling is great.
@MemphoWrasslin1 looool
Yes please!!
Sting, Nash and Savage my 3 favorite as a kid
Indeed
Excellent work.... The RUclips wrestling community was built on the back of Sean Oliver. I'm so happy to hear from him.
Sean has natural wit. The vast majority don't have it, but Sean's sense of humour and ability to think on his feet make him really special
He really took wrestling shoot interviews about 3 levels higher in every way possible.
Sean Oliver has provided countless hours of entertainment for pro wrestling fans worldwide. Had a chance to meet him years ago at LOTR and tell him thank you! Very nice guy as well...
Let me also add the GREATEST video was Sean cracking up listening to Kevin Nash tell stories about Mean Gene politely getting ripped via hard alcohol.
I could listen to Oliver and Cornette all day long. The 2 best interview/interviewer in the business.
I love Sean's work, but to be fair....anybody could interview Cornette... lol. Give him a topic, let him ramble for 10 minutes, then give him another one.
@@zlinedavid True. Jim Cornette has this insane ability to remember everything that has happened to him in his career, including conversations from over 35 years ago.
My favorite part was when Sean asked Corny about which wrestlers had drug problems and Corny said “Well I’m not gonna bury anybody”. Sean says “Oh yes you are” as he pulls out the “What’s in the bag?” gym bag 😂😂😂
Lol i can't stand that southern lib and his screeching voice XD
Sean Oliver is the greatest Shoot Interviewer of all time. Not even close
Thanks for putting me over mates.
You're the man, Sean!
Love you, OG.
I enjoy your stuff dude
This man is a trailblazer. Absolute legend
If I'm able to conduct interviews at 5% of his quality then I'd be happy
The Godfather of Shoot Interviews...
Nah, that would be Rob Feinstein.
I usually roll my eyes or feel second hand embarrassed by most shoot interviewers or fan Podcaster. Got Rob Feinstein with his "what are you memories of...... 48 times an interview. Or Conrad with "Meltzer had this to say".. But Sean Oliver is hilarious, smart, entertaining, and gets along with alot of the wrestlers. Like with him and New Jack. Jack is calm and funny and legit laughing.
Sean will always be the greatest interviewer
Man Conrad looking lean and healthy these days good for him
😂 If only I had his audience
@@thatswrestling8819 and flairs daughter 😘
This guy is the best shoot interviewer of them all in my opinion.
Sean gives some really in depth answers
Interviewer: kool
Finding new Sean Oliver content is like pulling a $20 bill out of a pair of pants you forgot about. It seems like Sean's podcast is on hiatus. Hopefully he addresses it in this interview. Sean is such a great interviewer. He should expand beyond wrestling. He's super talented.
He should, and if you enjoy this interview, check out my others, hopefully I can do my best to try and fill his shoes 👍🏻
Do you know why it's on hiatus?
@@thatswrestling8819 stop saying like so much in your questions
@@robertb4075 sorry bud, that's how I speak, no one else to have an issue with it 🤷🏻♂️
@@thatswrestling8819 you sound like a 14yo girl saying like every other minute. Strive to get better instead of being defiant. I'm not saying it's an easy job but saying like every other word isn't going to get u anywhere I promise
sean oliver was a pioneer of kayfabe interview luv his ones with Cornette nash and sunny especially definitely enjoyed the one when new jack showed while he was with Cornette enjoy that one Very much awesome interview brotha much luv Brotha!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏💯💯💯👊👊👊👊👊
Kayfabe Commentaries used to be the best! But every since everyone and their mom has a podcast now, their business had to shut down
Did they actually shutdown? I thought they were going to do a couple once Covid is over
I hope they're not shut down. KC is the only company I have ever paid to access.
What is keeping Sean from starting his own podcast? The answer: Absolutely nothing.
Well someone correct me if im wrong but i think the last shoot they did was Vince Russo 3 years ago
As he is discussing in this interview's second half,Sean Oliver actually his very own -post-Kayfabe Commentaries podcast but it sadly shut down in the middle of June 2020,as it did play a role in inspiring DJ Vlad's similar RUclips series(wth the Mafia mobsters, gang members, and drug runners interviews).
Sean made me love watching behind the scenes stuff, I've consumed hours of his stuff, nothing compares, he has great chemistry with everyone and even made stuff hilarious as well.
By far my favourite interviewer when it comes to shoot interviews!
I honestly don't see how anyone could think otherwise.
Well done sir, just a great interview from beginning to end. Always been a huge fan of the great Sean Oliver.
Thanks bud, that means alot 👍🏻
Personal favorite was Shane Douglas and his story of getting hooked in Oxycontin. Articulate, so so well told.
Absolute legend, would love to see him in more stuff, such great chemistry with the guests.
Awesome Stuff! 🔥The Godfather Of Shoot Interviews- Gamechanger💯- I Heard WWE's "Dawn Of The Attitude" '97 was released in direct response to Sean's Timeline series lol
I wish Sean would take over the Cornette and JR podcasts
great interview james
love sean olivers videos
This interview was done very well! Good job 👍
Love Sean Oliver 😍👍🏾
Outstanding interview. Such a pleasure to listen to.
Thanks 👍🏻
Really cool to see Sean’s perspective as a fellow interviewer. Awesome job James! 🤙
Awesome interview James!
Great interview always like to hear from this guy
Sean rules, best rapport with guests, funny and respectful but not overly patronizing or sycophantic… perfect host. I’ve watched his shoot interviews countless times I only wish there were more.
Really enjoyablr show. Thanks for the upload.
Thank you for posting this! I’ve been looking for new Sean Oliver content. I miss his shoot interviews and his podcast. Does anyone know if/when Sean’s podcast returns?
Imagine how much wrestling lore would have never seen the light of day without Sean Oliver .
Great Interview!

Decent interview. As feedback would say control the conversation more sometimes feels like a fan at a meet and greet. Good luck in the future
Very cool and great interview.
Sean Oliver is the best to ever do it.
Awesome interview!
sean oliver is 1 of my all time fav interviewers
Great job James. Cafe de Rene is amazing.
One of my favorite interviews with Sean Oliver was with Mike Graham. This was an incredible interview BTW
Thanks bud, that means alot 👍🏻
Bret was my fav timeline, was such a huge fan of his, being from Calgary,Summerslam 1992 Davey vs Bret was still the best bell to bell match I have ever seen. Sean is the best in the shoot biz
Got to love Sean,he’s very funny and approachable but he’s also obviously clever and shrewd. I enjoy his work, I’ve actually learned about so many wrestlers I didn’t know much or anything about through his shoot interviews with them. I also think he’s honest with the wrestlers, he doesn’t hide stuff.
The man innovated a whole genre of wrestling that was untapped and undiscovered, major respect to Sean for being the Atari of wrestling shoot commentary.
Excellent Show. Sean Oliver is awesome !!!
Thanks bud 👍🏻
Awesome how this is blowing up, keep it going ‼️
Thanks bud
This was really good man! Thank you!!
I'm happy you enjoyed it bud 👍🏻

Sean Oliver is an excellent interviewer, I enjoy his work
Excellent work James 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks lads
The Jon Stewart of the wrestling shoot interview
Because they both have the same hair with a bald spot in the back?
Glad sean is still around love listening to him he’s been a little quiet the past few years
I love listening to the shoot guy give a shoot interview
VERY GOOD INTERVIEW
The man who started it all!
Fantastic
Sean’s Guest Booker series, specifically Kevin Sullivan rebooking the WWF in 1984 without Hogan, is brilliant and he should definitely bring them back concentrating on the 1980’s.
I been trying to watch that. Who did he pick as "THE GUY"
Sean is The Man!
Damn right
Wow nice get. Sean is fantastic.
Thanks bud 👍🏻
I'm from Liverpool, always liked Sean and he's a great interviewer.
Liverpool!!!!!!! YNWA. I was born in Liverpool. I'm living in the Bay Area now.

why does the canal run through Merseyside?
Godfather of shoot interviews
That would be Rob Feinstein no?
I love that's their no love lost between Sean Oliver & Konnan.
King Kong Bundy and HTM were his best guests on those shoot interviews.
great job on the video
great listen
Sean is such a great guy.
My all time favorite moment was Timeline 1989 with Cornette "Do you have Alzheimer's? No...Well George Scott did" LOL!!!
haha! that was an awesome line among many that Corny delivered over the years during his interviews and his Territory series.
My favorites were always the dudes who sent video questions in....John The Revelator (that old black dude) was always cool and had funny questions and there's that other guy, a middle-aged dude with glasses on sometimes who always ended up yelling and doing some crazy impression of the wrestler that Sean was interviewing. I forget that crazy guy's name, but his stuff was legendary, one of his best bits was when he sent a video in for one of New Jack's Youshoots and during the video, in the middle of asking his question...the dude does this hilarious John Cena thing and waves his hand in front of his face "YOU CAN'T SEE ME, NIG-GAAAA!" lol, I think he was going for a hybrid between Cena and WCW Booker T. New Jack just laughed his ass off like "WTF? who is this dude?" haha
I think the biggest takeaway from all of those videos and interviews that Sean did over the years was the genuine friendships that he made....you could sense it in certain videos.....people like Raven, New Jack, Kevin Nash, Sean Waltman, Jim Cornette, Billy Graham, Bruno Sammartino, The Honky Tonk Man, Larry Zybysko, a bunch of those guys and gals could tell that they were being interviewed by someone who actually did their homework and researched and who was in the entertainment business for a while like they were (Sean Oliver was a card carrying member of SAG and graduated from film school). This wasn't a Rob Feinstein just killing time asking the same boring old questions with no thought put into them, Oliver had and still has a deep love and fascination of the professional wrestling business and I think that comes out when he interviewed these guys. It made them feel very comfortable and they could open up more and be engaging. Hell, I think Ivory had a thing for Sean during their interview because she was flirting with him during the whole thing! xD
I wished that Ole Anderson had done one of those interviews with Sean Oliver, I think Sean would have known exactly how to approach Ole and to structure the whole thing to get Ole to drop his guard a bit. For those who think that Ole was this gruff old guy who hated these interviews, that couldn't be further from the truth. One only needs to look up the interviews that he did with Scott Teal way back in the early 2000's, a couple of those clips are on RUclips....namely his stories about riding with Harley Race in the late 60's and a couple of stories about Lord Alfred Hayes. Ole was actually smiling and laughing during these moments. I'm so glad that he got his book out when he could still recall most things as he's lost most of his memory today, sadly :-(
Cornette's Frances Crockett in New York bit is my favourite. I think it was in the same shoot.
Just ten minutes in and it's a great interview already! Would've loved an interview in real life a bit more but COVID and everything related to it unfortunately making things more difficult for everybody.
Thank you, I'm hoping to be doing some in person interviews soon, there's gonna be a convention over here in the UK in May, so hopefully I'll be able to sort something out.
Thanks for the support 👍🏻
People have totally misquoted/lied about what Taker said as well. The part about the locker rooms was just illustrating the difference in mentality of guys like David Shultz when he slapped John Stossel, he even mentioned himself when talking about the guys now not thinking that way anymore.
That was over 22 minutes before the part about THE PRODUCT being soft "too much flash not enough substance".
Notice you didn't get a heart 😂😂
Because dishonest "podcasters" like this guy, don't care about the truth. They care about pushing their BS narrative in order to get views. Quite pathetic, but not at all surprising.
first time i saw any shoot interviews with sean oliver, i kept thinking, where did they find this guy. younger sean oliver looks a tiny bit like tim heidecker lol
His interviews are missed dearly
Sean Oliver is awesome!!
The ICP interview is legendary on kc
What I like about Sean is that he isnt a Mark when interviewing guys. And dont get me wrong if you’re a wrestling fan,we’re all marks to a degree but Oliver doesnt nitpick over every single, minute detail. He talks to them like intelligent human beings and not a fan boy fawning over them. His approach to interviewing lets the talent ease into telling dirt rather than prying them for it. He also doesnt let them jerk him around when they dont wanna do what they agreed to do.
That's my problem, I am a Mark 😂
Sean Oliver interview style always reminded me of Jerry Springer 🤣 he would antagonise and stir stuff in the same way
These are all the same stories in Sean's book but I still enjoyed the interview. i didn't know the part about Bret though
Sean is the OG of wrestling star casts 😉
Sean Oliver = 🐐
When I was a kid I went to a literal circus in Beaumont Tx with my grandma and sister, right next door was WWF raw ironically same building and all. We bought Steve Austin hats
That was also my first time seeing "WWF" in any positive light as I was a 7 year old that watched wcw for a year and only cares about nwo and sting.
Sean is the GOAT
Wait....you're interviewing THEE INTERVIEWER??? Well done!
I agree with oliver, Screwjob was a work, as a storyline that was WWF's nWo.
I loved Oliver's interviews with RVD and Hornswoggle I think they were the greatest.
Sean Oliver’s work was very influential for me as a highschooler
Been watching Sean Oliver for years and I just realized he's from my neck of the woods. If its from Bayonne........
good choice of outro music.
I feel like one area that Sean went wrong was his podcast during COVID. Audio quality is the most important thing to a podcast and he just had too many 'guests' who were calling in on phones, etc. I couldn't stay engaged because it was just so hit or miss with audio quality.
I first saw wrestling at age 4 , 1973 . I did not get it until 1977 . Billy Graham , Ric Flair , Greg Valentine , BobBacklund , Dusty Rhodes , Mil Mascaras and Andre were the hot commodities .
Locally Cowboy Watts , Dr X , Skandor Akbar , Crazy Luke Graham , Terry Latham and Lee Fields were the names
NWO podcast Kevin Scott Xpac & Sean Oliver 🔥🔥
Seans interviews were the best, the whole shoot interview scene runs on fumes left over from his shows. Every time i look for a shoot interview its only to recapture the fun Oliver brought to them. And the shoot interview is dying off now after covid restrictions has produced some of the most boring interviews ever conducted via skype/zoom. Cornette now spent more time talking about wrestling than he was in it.
I always thought Sean would be amazing in the Michael Cole role for a promotion.
Awesome interview.
I'd love to be able to interview Sean one day.
maybe dress more normal
Shout out to the Horsecock Express!
You can tell Sean Oliver is Legit. 👍
Could tell he had English in him since he manages to speak coherently lol
😂😂😂
I still have a shirt that drunk Buff Bagwell tried to sign 5-6 times during the course of a show. I never once asked him to sign my shirt.
😂😂😂
@@thatswrestling8819 one of his tries was with a crayola marker
@@joypadlad wow 😂
Sean deserves a lot of respect. Shoot interviews, especially RF Video ones, became completely unwatchable to me once Sean came along. We went form every question being, "Memories of working with _________", which isn't even technically a question, to thoughtful queries that made the wrestlers think, and pushed them to respond in a more considered and interesting way. And it never descended into the one-dimensional hackery of some of Conrad's content, particularly with Bischoff and Bruce who are clearly not even attempting to be honest or accurate.
Have you interviewed Renee Dupree yet 🔥 would be cool to see on Cafe De Renee
I do the show with him
