I did it! MelyD thank you 😊 I got it... I’m over the moon! In my humble opinion not only is this an awesome technique, it really teaches the control of moving the paint over a canvas. I was finally able to move the puddle of pain in 3 or 4 circles before I went for the corners and sides! Whooop! Whooooop! Now I’m ready to GO BIG!
Yay! I'm so happy for you :) It's not evident but when you get the hang of it, you're good! Lotsa love to ya!
No matter cracks it looks fantastic !! Cracks suit on it perfectly !!
How have I not seen this before. This is gorgeous.
You just keep getting and better❣️a true artist❣️thank you for sharing your art
You are right about the temperature causing the cracking. I have not done any pours so I have been researching the time effects on pours. As far as cracking this is what I have found: control the temperature and humidity level in the studio as much as possible. Dry climates increase the chance of crazes developing - fissures resulting from liquid acrylic products skinning over during initial drying while the underlying liquid paint is still very fresh. The skin shrinks and tears apart resulting in unwanted physical textures known as a “craze”. Your pour is absolutely stunning. Love it.
Lovely nd so simple keeping the negative space. 💕
Love the negative space on this one Mely.
The cracking looks deliberate 😮👍
It looks awesome...it gives it texture. Love it
C’est superbe! Love it! Very ethereal.
Et tu as raison, les crevasses donnent de la dimension à cette peinture. 👌🏼👍🏼
I love the cracks! And all your work💕
Nice! Very effective use of negative space.
I absolutely love it - cracks and all 😍
Thank you Heidi!!
I see a beautiful piece of polished pinkish petrified wood. I think the crackling helps give that effect. Thank you for discussing your results after each pouring!
This is my favorite of your cloudy series
Yay! Thank you so much! :)
yes,elegant is the right word.
And perfect with these black side.
Firdt I thought,you painted on wood.💟
Awesome pour....I found drying in a cool room made a difference in the cracks for sure.
I bloody loved this piece MelyD so beautiful.
So cool and I love the cracking effect!!
Perfection. Can't wait to try this. Thanks for your videos. Enjoy them so much.
I love the smooth matt black finish on the left, contrasted against the cracked effect on the right. Love it. Beautiful.
Absolutely love it cracks and all… I would resin it like it was meant to be!!!!
I actually love the cracking, it gives it allot of dimension .
Love your artistry 🙏🏼
GORGEOUS! ❤❤❤
I love it, love it, love it and love it. 🤩😯😯👍
Love this….Gorgeous colors & technique❗️
You are such an inspiration. Love your painting and I think the cracks add dimension.
Thank you so much Stacey :)
I Love this one!!! Your videos have taught me so much about negative space & how to “eyeball” a painting & know when to leave an area alone- i started out pouring thinking the whole canvas had to be covered with “pattern” - I don’t know why it never occurred to me that it didn’t! it was so liberating to just let the paint flow & not worry that the colors wouldn’t be dispersed everywhere, Learning to pour the “background” color first for that And easier manipulation of moving the paint around. I know I’ve said it before, but thank you for sharing your talents, wisdoms (“it’s madness” Lol!) & authenticity !
Cool calm and collected another awesome piece.
Looks great and I love the way it has cracked in the ring lines .....gives a great textured effect ....it’s definitely a keeper !! ❤️❤️
Soooooooooo pretty 😍😍😍😍
Epic! Yep, that's what I would call it! Another amazing piece of work. I like the cracks. They give it texture that we don't normally have happen naturally in pour painting. It works here!
You're so right! Thank you :)
Very true...it looks like its part of an actual tree, the cracking. Love your work! You are my fave. I’m just a beginner. You’ve inspired me.
I received my white enamel and I’m ready to try your trademark cloudy ring pour! Can’t wait. Thank you for a great demonstration and I love the way it turned out! ❤️
Sometimes when the paint cracks it's more than awesome~ looks great on this painting for sure!
You're right! Thank you :)
Stunning piece ❤️
I like the cracks on this one. Agree with you that it gives some character to the piece.
I like the cracks!! Looks awesome, I'm gonna try it right now
Beautiful! 🌹
Love it again❣️awesome
Amazing yet again! Love the negative space! And the cracks work! So glad to have found you in my fluid art journey, you are truly inspirational to me and for that I thank you!
Aw thank you so much!!!
Very cool! Yes the cracking probably came from the very cold dry weather but so happy it works in your favor! Have a great weekend!
Thank you so much and have a great one yourself!
Beautiful......👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️
Beautiful really
I love it! Gorgeous!

Beautiful
Another amazing piece!💜
Very dramatic! Love it!!
Thank you so much!
Oh and I used the blue satin enamel on a piece and the first piece didn't crack but the second piece did and I love love love it! I think the cracking just adds to the beauty!
Fantastic! It looks like an eye of a reptile. Got myself some more art supplies to try pouring again...hopefully I set the time aside to do some.
the cracking is just the thing to make it even more interesting. ..it goes well here
Embrace the cracks! It’s beautiful!
Gorgeous Mely. I love watching your videos and seeing the outcome. Thanks for sharing. 💗
Thank you! :)
Love it!
Hi mely! I love it, and the craking gives it a strong character!!!!
Thank you!
Beautiful, love the simplicity !
Thank you!
I love your work! That milky white is gorgeous with thin lines of red/pink. I do wish the bronze color stood out more but hey! No matter what your pieces always come out great! Thank you so much for sharing. 🤖
Amazing👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Beautiful i like the crack look in it
Cool🌞
I wanted to say thank you for sharing the results when they are a part of experimenting. It opens my mind up to so many different options. This style of painting is freeing and, often times, frustrating by its unpredictable nature. When variables are found to have a certain result, it's nice to try and forecast what you might get in a painting. With that being said, I find that gold is a difficult color to use. I tried the bright gold enamel from DecoArt and I am in love with my results so far. I would never had thought of using it if you hadn't tried the white and black with such varying results. I do use floetrol , water, and Liquitex pouring medium (when I can afford it) in my mix so my results could be in that combo.
I second this.
I had often wondered about that .
I agree that gold isn't easy. From my experience it tends to take over a lot. I haven't tried the satin enamel one yet but you just got me very curious about it so thank you. I'm glad you like my experiments and I have to say I find it very important to show the final result because fluid paintings dont always dry the same as when they are wet. I believe in not giving false hope when showing how I make a painting. Dried result at the end is a must. If my painting does not dry well and I don't like it, I delete my video and dont post it. It's unfair to people who want to try what the person is showing if the end result looks like crap. :)
Amazing, like a cloud in space 👌🏽😍
Super ❣️
Fricking awsome
Very nice. I like the cracks. Leta
Mely...I have always loved your pours 💕lots inspiration to me in my pours
Yes in this case the cracking it definitely completes it and the tree ring I think
Mesmerizing. I’d love for you to Resin one of these. I think it would POP those colors.
Lovely pour, Mely! I’ve been experimenting with this paint mix, ever since I watched your first video using it. Of course, none of my attempts have been particularly successful, but I am so intrigued by the various results, I keep going back. I’ll keep at it until I get a nice piece, or I run out of the enamel paint, I guess. Please continue your explorations, and I’ll follow as best I can. 😉
Thank you so much and I'm sure you'll get it! Experiment away and you're bound to make it work :)
Mine don't look like yours usually get way too many cells then next time not enough. Was it cold then, mine never crack. Keep them inside 81 today. 👌🖌❤🎨
LOVE IT!..... the colours, everything even with the cracks, which I don’t think is a negative thing...on a personal note I love details, so loving the painting from a distance, I definitely would have to look closer and admire the beauty and take it all in, especially the cracks, cells and everything about it, kind of like in the film Mona Lisa with Julia Roberts where she takes her students to admire the Sidney pollack painting close up
I love it! And your paints were thicker:)) well done
Thank you!
I mention you and link back to your channel on almost half of my videos....u have been so inspiring to me. ❤️ I've been calling u the "Brain Child of the Cloud Effect "...:-)
Your channel inspired me to start my own shop. Just wanted you to know.
👋 MelyD. Beautiful ring pour this morning. I’m like you in that cracks should only be in my tree ring pours if you look at the bark full of cracks. Oh and in my Ice scapes. Karen NZ
It's so fitting that you should mention Don Henley (sp?). I've always loved his voice, you could pick it out in a crowd of voices because he's a one of a kind, JUST LIKE YOU!! I love your videos and your painting style. Thanks for educating the rest of us. 😍
MelyD, totally have been missing you i have to catch up on your videos
One of my very 1st ones I did I did something like this and it cracked also it's cool but cracked I thought either I used too much white and its heavy so it dried in spots faster and caused crackling as I called mine. Still beautiful you always explain stuff I like that thank you so much
This is perfect timing, as I’m going to try my 6th cloudy pour this morning, but on a slightly bigger canvas, a 12x24...so I was particularly happy to see this one! Love the negative space in black, love the softness and light against the darkness, and the cracks with the black showing through, couldn’t be better! I’m going to keep attempting these cloudy rings until I consistently get beautiful results like these! And BTW, I think that thanks to Mely D, the Deco Art Satin Enamel is impossible to find except from the scalpers on Amazon!! LOL!!
Hahaha that's so funny! Gosh I wish there were some way I could get credit if so many people are buying it :) I didn't know it was that bad! I found some at Michael's and even cheaper on the DecoArt website. Hope that helps a bit. Good luck experimenting and lotsa love to ya!
Yep. Michael's, and used a 60 off coupon. I was all giddy like a kid at Christmas. What's wrong with me????? Lol
@@FXAcrylics absolutely nothing :)
FX Acrylics Michaels shows all colors of Americana Satin Enamel as Out of Stock online since at least 2 days ago, and I just now rechecked. Are you saying that you bought Satin Enamel at Michael’s recently??
@@sanctuarynaturals Warehouse availability differs from store availability. While the warehouse is out of stock for online orders, I can order online for store pickup.
Holy crap! This same thing happened to me too in my cold (basement)studio with my heater close by and left on? This seems to be seasonal in the dead of below zero Winter weather. I thought that was it but now that it happened to you and few others I talk to, it's that new Artist Loft crap base paint that is giving me trouble too. I'm going to try Amsterdam only to see if that helps. I don't usually use it at all but have a few tubes of black and white I can test with. T I only left for an hour to go ski and came back and found everything cracked in the entire painting which was still wet but dried around the edges and crazed and cracked. Worse yet black AL paint all over new white ski pants. Bad day painting and skiing. Should have just watched T.V. and ate nachos type of day. These still came out cool though. Nice work and commend the constant effort on the numerous experiments! I'm not sure if I love the Science or Art more with this type of painting but, I find it touches on ALL my interests which is only Science and Art. I see you got straight A's in both as well. I failed every other subject. Straight A's in Science and Art Major 1 and 2 and Photography 1 & Adv. Development. Everything else, I'm lucky I got out H.S.
You are the artist that I first watched and who inspired me to try this approach. Thank you for another beautiful video. I struggle so much mixing my paints to get them to move like yours. I was amazed at the tiny amount of pouring medium you used with all that black. I usually need to have five or six times the pouring medium with my paint to get them to move at all. The paint comes out of the tube like a thick fat caterpillar and it needs lots and lots of mixing. Maybe I'm using the wrong kind of paint! However, you keep inspiring me to try.
That's because I add water :) when working with real pouring medium like liquitex you don't have to add a lot, the rest is water and YES it takes a lot of mixing. I spend a lot of time preparing my paints and making sure they are good to go. Its part of the process :)
@@MelyDartist Oh thank you! for some reason I thought that too much water would harm the integrity of the paint, so I kept adding more and more pouring medium then I switched to Floetrol. I was using Demco pouring medium and it was getting expensive! I'll try the "less PM, more water" approach. Thank you for your generosity of spirit.
@@rosemarypell1836 its important that you understand that yes adding too much water will ruin the integrity of the paint unless you use real pouring medium. Floetrol is not pouring medium, it's a wall paint extender that you buy at the hardware store. I'm guessing that's why people who use it use a ton of it. I rather use a lot of paint than a lot of additives. The more you change your recipe, the more different your result. It's all just an adaptation that comes with practice ;) lotsa love to ya!
@@MelyDartist I appreciate your time to add clarity to a confusing subject. I think I will switch back to the pouring medium with more water to get the consistency. I like the dried look of the paintings I did with pouring medium. Keep on being the inspiring you!!
With the cracking I'd be like.. "Nah, I meant to do that.". 😂 With a resin layer on top it will have extra dimension and depth.
Love love love everything about this, as usual you never cease to amaze me. I've been watching you on my phone oh, and you just pop up randomly. But Hallelujah I found a teenager she showed me how I can get RUclips on my television so now I'm going back and binge-watching all of your older episodes. Although I could probably ask you a million questions about this episode, I saw an episode where you sprayed what I thought you said was dish detergent on a piece to see if you would get a reaction. And yes you did! Could you please tell me about the dish detergent thing? Is it just regular old dish detergent like dawn and is it mixed with water? If it is at what ratio? Sorry about all the questions but I've never heard of dish detergent before and you got an amazing result on your piece. As for the cloud effect I am having so much fun playing with it. If I could show you pictures I would show you the large piece I did that looks like outer space on one side with clouds on the other. Love love love this technique and Nobody Does it Better Than You
This is so beautiful even with the cracks. I love the colors. I've noticed when watching your videos that you don't torch your paintings. Is it necessary to torch them?
I love this!! I've been given stacks of albums. Where should I start the pour? I can't picture the pour with rings on one side while spreading to another the other side. Mine go from center to evenly around the circle. Does this make sense to you? Sorry if it doesn't.
Hi! Your stuff is amazing! What makes the cloudy effect...i only got it once...and it was a surprise.??🙂
I think I've told you before but I just love this picture, I totally love your Technique and I've been having fun playing with it which I guess is what it is all about! I have just one question cuz I'm getting mixed results, and I know I should be writing down what I'm doing but I'm kind of forgetful like that, but do you mix your whites to consistency separately and then add them together? Or do you add equal amounts into a cup and then bring them to consistency? I've done it both ways and I sure wish I could remember which one I got the best results with, but once again I am old and kind of forgetful like that! Your help would be so so greatly appreciated. Thank you ever so kindly!
Can I use flotrol with the white enamel or will it not give the cloudy effect? I am in awe of the beauty of your art, it is sooo stunning ❤❤
I used the Satin enamel in a piece bigger than I have had good results with so far and I forgot the ceiling fan was on above the drying painting. The next morning there were cracks everywhere. I do think the dry air we have now and the ratio I used of typical acrylic to Satin enamels combined to make it crack. I love, love the cloud effect so I am going to keep on trying. I also love the idea you used for this piece with the black negative space. 15 x 30 is such a nice size - good for swipes but difficult for pours. Have you tried swiping with the Satin Enamel?
That sucks for the ceiling fan! I so get it. And no I dont do swipes. I dont like that technique I find it boring lol
