I am from Burma. This is a very beautiful ring. I believe this stone color tone is pink sapphire rather than ruby. To regard ruby, there should be intense red color not disturbing with pinkish or purplish tones. Moreover there are plenty of unheated, untreated rubies in Burma. There are two mining sources of rubies here in Burma. The first one is world renowned Mogok Township, Mandalay Region, which produces natural rubies, sapphires and other gem stones. The other one is Meng Shu Township, Shan State, which produce rubies that need heat or treatment. Due to the political unrest in that area, rubies from Meng Shu were exploited and smuggled out Thailand where they are heated and treated, and sold in Thai jewelry market. So naturally most of the rubies from Mogok is usually untreated, unheated while most of from Meng Shu treated and heated. Yet gem laboratories can easily detect whether rubies are treated or heated.
